Gob Smash One

Game Master Tacticslion

They be goblins, you be food... why are they so weird, dude?

That's what the W.D.G.F.F. (Western Duchy Goblin Fighting Force) first Reconnaissance and Strike Crew, aka "Gob Smash One" (that's you) have been sent to find out, in the barren mana wastes beyond the edge of the Duchy near the border of Geb in an ancient abandoned outpost called Hightower...

Earlier, before the farewells - altering illusion:

Shaedo, in a fickle mood, or perhaps sensing Vitreous's dislike of the mask alters her illusion, removing the mask and restoring the proper Snaketrious appearance. The mask changes to a snake-belt with a few hanging, fang-punctured husks of dead demon-flies- a visual evidence (albeit illusory) that this giant snake is a demon killer!

I like the snake-look better, after all! All you need to do, Vitreous, is twirl that giant mustache of yours, and the nasty gobs'll forget all about their ritual!

Just before take off....:

Shaedo is saddened to see her dear friend Eris go, but quietly squees to receive Kallisti into her care.

"As a follow fox, I shall be sure Kallisti is safe! Oh, Kallisti, we are two vixens in a strange world! Let's stay together, and we'll get through this madness!"

Like in the dream.... up through the clouds....

"We- we- are flying... agaaaaaaaaaaaaaiiin!" Breath, YIIIIIiiiiiiiiii!

Layla notices Eris' telepathy shard in her hand. Surprised, she calls out,
"Oh! Thank you!"
She attempts to wave at Eris and Rainbow below, if she can do so without losing hold of giant flying snake Vitreous.

Then, Layla reaches over to Sunny and slips the telepathy shard into her arm, or leg, or whatever she can reach.
"Here ya go, Sunny!"

Layla then takes a deep breath and puffs herself up to her full halfling height, or at least so much as is possible while crouched over the back of a giant, flying snake monster.
"Right! Well, you heard her, everyone. I'm in charge now, so you'd better listen up!"

"First of all, Shaedo, you're sneaking up invisibly on Jakk and attempting to assassinate him. Take the time you need to study him before he notices us, or while we provide a distraction. Can you make anyone else invisible, too? Maybe me? If so, I'll join you."

"Schnorzel, your job is to mentally let us know which one is Jakk, if it's not super obvious, and let us know anything else we should know to safely stop the ritual. Then, once our presence is made known, get your people to calm down and not attack us, so we don't have to be killin' 'em. Maybe try convincing 'em that if Jakk succeeds, they'll all die, too, and that's not good for anyone!"

"Vitreous, your job is to get us all up there, possibly without bein' noticed, but then, once we're noticed, to provide a distraction, to make sure Nugglet is helpin' us, not betrayin' us, to mental me any good strategy ideas you have, and possibly to crush a whole bunch of blue gobs if Schnorzel can't get 'em to not attack us."

"Dijiron, your job is to figure out what's goin' on with the magical stuffs, and mental us all what we should or shouldn't touch, and what we need to do to stop the ritual. If you also want to try attacking Jakk with frosty, if we don't succeed in surprise-killing him, go for it."

"Lt. Stone and Beylinda and Ooze, if the initial invisible assassination attempt on Jakk fails, then you three warriors need to try to finish the job. Focus on taking out Jakk, and anyone else who may continue doing the ritual stuff after he goes down. Then, if Schnorzel can't stop them from attacking us, we'll take out any other attacking gobs."

"Ceru and Sunny, I'd suggest maybe hanging back at first, seein' what's goin' on, hearin' what Schnorzel and Dijiron have to say about what needs to be done to stop the ritual and then doin' it. Sunny, you might be able to work with Shnorzel and to use some of the stuff we picked up, like the rocks. Ceru, you're good with traps and all kinda weird stuff, and that might come in handy in disabling whatever's goin' on up there. Just be careful!"

"So, yeah. Go, Gob Smash One! Let's save the worlds!"

Whoops! I forgot Schnorzel couldn't understand mental talk. I'm sorry! I got used to talking like this! Can everybody hear me now?

Anyway, it looks like there's... there's some really awful stuff down there. Dozens of different kinds of people being sacrificed... we've got to stop this guy. In fact, I'd say if anyone can be saved once we're done, we grab survivors and wreck the place. It's... there's a... it's just awful. Ceru, as she reports from looking down, gets a notably ill tone of mental voice as she continues.

As they approach further, Ceru agrees to Layla's plan and waits for instruction on how to disrupt the ritual. If I'm good at anything besides cooking, it's messing magic up!

Hi everyone! I'm the new guy. Nice to meet you.

Oh my.

Psi says somewhat worried about its surroundings, as it takes in the view just above the mesa. Clinging to the rocky surface for dear life it begins to weigh its options on how exactly it could get down without being captured again, as the very large mustacioed serpent creature happens to approach the Xaxs location.

I certainly have not had my share of poor decisions today.

It sees several non goblins aboard and decides the flying snake creature is the safest option available.

So Psi-dish chooses to attempt to climb onto Vitreouserpent when he nears.

EDIT: Everyone may now read Side-dish Secret Two.

As the party nears the Mesa, the intensity of the power grows - and a loud, terrifying, wicked sounding chanting comes with it - almost as if there a thousand voices instead of only one.

Far below, Rainbow seems to enter a trance with Eris, and a shimmering field envelopes the two of them.

The smell of magical forces, gore, and blood grows strong as the necromantic lightning nearly burns through the last the green mists below, the softer mists vanishing before the consuming cackling yellow nastiness. It seems almost eager to caress the goblins meditating quietly below.

Layla and Ooze:
Holy ****, that's a lot of goblins at the base of that Mesa! Over a hundred foot down.

Schnorzel:
The number of Midori are immense, almost too much to contemplate. What you see below represents the vast majority of your people that you've run into throughout your life, much less your tribe. Surely there are more Midori out there in the world, for it is large... but no tribes that far removed physically could really be considered 'your people' any more than this strange group of entities you find yourself with now. You literally see below enough so that you could fit every living person you've ever met in your existence - and more besides - into the crevasse below. A crevasse you recall, because it was the last thing you saw, as you sat down for meditation, before waking in the other world...

--------------------

As the Snaketreous largely and rather obviously lands on the Mesa - there really isn't a way to hide it - a number of things happen all at once.

First is the sudden arching and screaming of a number of creatures bound to the various stone columns. Not all, certainly, but at least a handful of the several-dozen creatures so-bound begin to do so. Most eerily of all, they begin to do so in time to the chanting.

Second is the lighting actually breaking through to a number of goblins below - only a handful, but the mists around them temporarily burn away. Screams erupt - screams their fellows seem incapable or unwilling to hear, screams that seem not from terror or pain, but just from the nature of life being so-violated - and are silenced, as the skin sloughs off in an animate heap, the shadows rises from the earth, the soul splits into two and manifests forth as malevolence incarnate, and the organs begin to float free of their own accord. The lighting's grip fails, however, and the mist floods back over them, like a saving flood, and you watch the various elements begin to re-knit themselves and reform back into the bodies they were, only moments before.

Fourth is the strange burbling sound that begins eructing from the goblin on the center of the Mesa, at the same time as he continues chanting.

Fourth is the sudden landing of an exceedingly odd creature on Vitreous' head from an alcove in the ceiling - Ceru barely has time to notice it before it does so.

It's as tall as a gnome, with a vaguely ape-like body - long arms extending from the bulbous musculature that is its back and shoulders, each arm ending in three-fingered hands; haunched legs terminating in two-toed feet - but it lacks any sort of neck, despite the bony ridge atop its 'head' that could be suggestive of one. The 'face' - if, in fact, it could be called that - is near the middle of its chest, and consists of two eyes (one slightly larger than the other) rest atop each other, just over a sideways, tooth-filled mouth. Its skin is smooth and grey, though it fades to a bluish tinge around its face. You see four pointy tongues that wriggle behind the very, very sharp-looking teeth.

It bears slightly modified goblin armor (apparently adjusted for its particular anatomical needs) a few odds and ends (including a mug and blanket tied to the belt of its armor), exceedingly oddly mismatched clothing, looking like it was taken from several different suits - all of which were falling apart -, cobbled together and violently (and inexpertly, if skillfully) "adjusted" for this creatures' body, and two axe heads (one with a short piece of rusted chain attached, the other with a shattered handle) bound together by a tattered rope.

It looks ready to continue to ride the giant snake... anywhere, really.

About thirty feet away, the goblin - due predominantly to the arrival of the incredibly massive giant snake - spins, being made aware of your presence but seemingly unconcerned.

He's... strange-looking, even by goblin standards. He almost looks like everything wrong or weird about goblin kind as a whole all smashed together.

Schnorzel:
You remember this, now. He always did look different. In some ways it was quite beautiful in the freakishness of it all - quite handsome by goblin standards. In others... it was creepy as all getout.

Heal or Knowledge (nature) DC 15:
He is clearly a hybrid goblin - he has both Midori goblin traits and Golarion goblin traits.

Heal or Knowledge (nature) DC 25:
He also literally has their traits - all of the racial traits available to both... except those which rely on being blue.

Perception DC 20, Ceru has already made this check:
He seems to be a hybrid goblin, having both Midori goblin traits and Golarion goblin traits.

To make matters uglier, he was clearly diseased - terribly so. Covered in sores, pimples, and relatively fresh scars across every part of his body, with ooze and nastiness dripping from him. He seems gaunt, almost starved. An acrid, sweaty and moldy smell reaches you - he's growing mold and fungus, and his clothes, soaked through by the faint mist from the central fountain, are actually mildewing on him. He clearly hasn't bathed in weeks, and it's very questionable if he's eaten in that time.

It bore harmor of a kind similar to what Nuglet had, previously. Casually, held in his hand was a chained set of sharp, curved blades. Slowly swirling around him is a pair of massive shields, chained together.

Grinning from ear to hideous ear, it smiles. "Aaaaahhhh..." it says in nearly flawless Golarion common. Everyone - despite their ability to speak that language or not - understands him. "I was wondering when meddlers from Golarion would arrive. Did the caress put you up to it? Or was it the silken dragon? Whatever - you are too late. It doesn't matter what you do, now, the bloatfly has won. The Plague has been created and you can no longer stop it." he taunts.

Sense Motive DC 12:
He's hiding something.

He turns, and glances at Nuglet, speaking in Midori - though once again, every word is comprehensible by others. "Ah." he says "Nuglet. So my wife has returned to me with sacrificial gifts. Thank you, for delivering them so nicely to the Fly's favor."

Sense Motive DC 16:
He seems to be telling the truth.

Sense Motive DC 21:
He's totally lying. (Except about the fact that she's his wife.)

Although you can tell that he's not a typical Midori goblin, he looks like he's a hybrid of the normal goblins you've run across and whatever freakish weird kind are on this snake with you. He does not look like they're children - if anything, he seems a bit older than they, though not by much. Unrelated, most likely.

I can make you invisible now too Layla- I jus' -jus' worried that if I got Kallisti, not invisible, by me when I take out Jakk, they're going to think she's the fox responsible, and that isn't fair to her!

GM, If invisible Shaedo has Kallisti hiding in her clothing or bag, would Kallisti be invisible, too?
If not, then Layla might suggest leaving Kallisti safely behind with unconscious Amita...
But that brings up the question, if Snaketreous supposedly carried all of us and the mules and unconscious peeps up here (Did he?), then how exactly are they attached to him?
Are they securely tied on or something?
If Kallisti can't be invisible, too, and if leaving her safely behind is not an option, Layla might suggest Shaedo leave her temporarily with Ceru, whom Kallisti really seemed to like, and who is not supposed to be running up to attack Jakk right now.

(Somewhat EDITed)

(And another EDIT:)

"Shaedo, if Kallisti doesn't turn invisible if you stick her in your clothing or bag, then leave her behind on Vitreous, or maybe with Ceru. Kallisti seems to like Ceru, and Ceru isn't supposed to be charging at Jakk right now.
The success of this whole mission could depend on us having two chances to attempt invisible assassination, instead of just one.
I figure that's a much more important use of your spell than very temporarily protecting the life of one sweet little fox...
'Cuz if we can't stop this ritual, all of us, including Kallisti, will soon be dead!
"

(A final EDIT for a skill check, and a couple hopefully-inspiring words...)

Layla, if she is currently in Jakk's line of vision, adjusts herself further to the other side of Snaketreous's back, while he is distracted noticing Nugglet.
If Shaedo casts invisibility on her, she will attempt to slip quietly off Snaketreous's back and begin sneaking around to the side of the platform to surprise attack Jakk from behind, just in case he can somehow see or sense invisible creatures.
Meanwhile, she studies him and his defenses, trying to set herself up for an assassination attempt.

Mentally only:
"Shaedo, I'm circling around to our right, you sneak around to our left.
We'll attempt to assassinate him from rear angles on my mental command.
Let me know when you're in position.
If anyone else has information we should know, please mental it to us.
Meanwhile, keep him distracted.
Lt. Stone, Beylinda, and Ooze, be ready to attack if we fail.
Good luck, guys!
Go, Gob Smash One!
"

Fear grips at Layla's guts, but she steels herself against it, fiercely determined to give this everything she's got.

Yes! Yes, Kallisti, perhaps I you can hide in my illusion as well!

She guides Kallisti into her back pack, hoping the celestial fox vanishes too. "Into the fox burrow, my dear. Vixens stick together!" If she does, Shaedo goes to Layla to turn her invisible.

If Kallisti does not turn invisible while hidden in Shaedo's clothing or pack...:
Oh, it's not working! Okay, Ceru! Yes, she likes Ceru. She gave her apples! Ceru, while Kallisti really would like apples, best not to let her have any at the moment. Please keep her safe! Shaedo telepaths, talking to calm her nerves, mainly. Even in her clothing, Shaedo would worry about her vixen. "Keep her safe, please! I'll come back for you, little vixen!" Shaedo gingerly hands Kallisti off to Ceru, if the gnome will take her.

Okay Layla, just remember, the moment you take your shot, you will no longer be invisible. So... be careful to keep an eye on a quick escape route! Trembling, Shaedo concentrates on her magic, and touches Layla, turning the halfling invisible.

Shaedo is ready to dive into the fray behind Layla. Gods... Desna... this is really happening, isn't it? Really- yep... yiiiiii! Let' goooo!

Shaedo dives gracefully off of Vitreous' back, flips and lands nimbly on her feet. Too bad no one got to see her!

Go left! Circle left! Go foxy- go!

Shaedo stealths left, and as soon as she can see Jakk, begins her study.

Ceru realizes awhile ago flying on the snake she should have changed into her billow cape, and does so now, leaping off the snake to head to her duty.

As she runs to the altar/ritual area/whereevertheheck she's supposed to go, she chucks apples at Jakk, just because it would be confusing.

Besides, an apple a day keeps the doctor away--i.e., stops disease--so logically they should be repugnant to a plague priest.

Sunny, you should be on the back of Vitreious with the majority of us.
I am going to post a few actions for stone to take as he is going to attempt to set up a chain of actions.

Perception: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (18) + 11 = 29
Stone realizes that his target is some sort of hybird goblin, but more importiantly he can see his target, and has a good line of fire to it. When the new creature lands on the flying dragon, Stone snaps his crossbow towards him, before trailing it back towards his target. I have my orders... Priestist dies first, protect Layla...
Hey Psi-Dish, welcome :)
Stone has determined you are not his target, but PLEASE dont do anything to Layla, Stone has been ordered to protect her, and i dont want to send a true-striked assassination bolt your way :S i really, really dont...

Stone seems to almost vanish from view as he expertly hides among the scales of Viterious, with his eye always trained on the bloatfly
Stealth check with Hide in Plain Sight: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (14) + 9 = 23 (23+distance modifiers)
And he also studies his target carefully... setting up an assassinate attempt
Next (if he has time) he pulls out a potion of true strike strike, drinks it, and waits...
so first ill stealth and study the target (standard action), then ill draw and drink a potion (move and standard action) then ill wait (readied action, triggers are: i hear the telepathic signal, Layla becomes visible or Psi-Dish threatens Layla)
As this is going on, all of you can hear a creepy, low pitched drone over the telepathic network
... Come here little target... Dwarfy has a surprise for you! You hurt the little squirrels, dwarfy hurt you!! And i know just where to put the bolt... he then goes on to describe, in great detail, the exact anatomical position he will shoot, the exact gory results and how the squirrels will rejoice... It seems he still hasnt mastered keeping his subconcious thoughts out of the network yet... Creepy...

Man! Posting ofline is harsh :(
Hope i get internet back soon!

As Snaketreous twirls his mustache, Stone takes aim, Ceru throws apples, and Evil Ugly Jakk taunts them all, invisible Layla stealths closer to Jakk, her blue-whinnis-covered kukri at the ready.

Layla speaks mentally,
"Alright, Shaedo, this is it. We've got this. Let's move in from the sides to flank him. I'm now closing to 20 feet... 15 feet... 10 feet... GO!"

Initiative: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (6) + 6 = 12

Attack: 1d20 + 7 + 2 ⇒ (19) + 7 + 2 = 28

Damage: 1d3 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 + 2 = 5

Fort DC for assassination attempt if it works is 15+2=DC 17

EDIT
Critical Hit Confirmation: 1d20 + 7 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 7 + 2 = 14
Crit Damage: 1d3 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 + 2 = 6

Sunny - Stone is correct. You are currently 30 ft. away from Jakk, as is Beylinda on the massive snake.

The hideous goblin has startlingly clear blue eyes - eyes that quickly twist into a combination of confusion and amusement at the antics of Gob Smash One and the others.

"I... I didn't..." starts Nuglet, staring at herself, "You can't still be... I'm not... "

Ceru leaps off and tosses some apples at Jakk. The shields quickly - and seemingly purposefully - react blocking them, quickly, but moving them slightly away from Jakk to do so.

"What-?" asks the diseased priest, but then quickly glances back to Vitreous. "How... is it doing that?" he asks, staring at the twisting mustache.

Waiting to resolve the attacks until more are made.

The way Shaedo moves, she may as well be ethereal. With perfect quiet, and agility, she mirrors Layla's steps, reporting her progress in response, 20 ... 15... 10..., as she moves she tries, and thankfully manages not to be distracted by the twirling mustaches or to be terrified by the sheer number of gobs- and nasty deluge of wrongness coming from above.

Initiative: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (17) + 4 = 21

Can Shaedo flank with a ranged weapon? If yes, then does she still need to be in an adjacent square, or how close?

Attack + with range: 1d20 + 5 + 2 ⇒ (11) + 5 + 2 = 18

Unarmed strike bonuses if range is not an option for flanking:
+ 1, + 2 for flank would be: 14.

EDIT: Keep in mind this is vs. flat-footed, and that if memory serves, creatures that are invisible generally get some other kind of bonus when attacking. + 4, I believe??

Ranged (Hand Crossbow) damage: 1d4 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4

+ Poison!

Unarmed strike, if ranged isn't an option: 1d2 - 1 + 2 ⇒ (1) - 1 + 2 = 2

EDIT: Shaedo would be where she needs to be to grant Layla the flanking bonus in any case.

Flanking - melee-range only, I'm afraid. However, you can get into melee range and - hypothetically, if your invisibility or stealth is good enough - still use your ranged weapon and hopefully avoid an Attack of Opportunity.
Invisible by way of Spell - confers +2 to attack, and ignores DEX to AC (aka, allows attacks v. flat-footed AC), as well as the +20/+40 to stealth (moving/being still, respectively).

Female Kitsune (Small Variant) Ninja (Performing Trickster) 3 | AC (22) 18 T 13 FF 16 | HP 16/19 | F + 0 R + 4 W + 4 | Init + 4

Wow! Thanks for the helpful post. I'm impressed you managed to dig all that up so fast. :) So... Shaedo shall move into to flanking position, but still use her ranged attack. That way, she gets a total of 16 instead of just 14, and she should give Layla the bonus. She'll risk the opportunity attack, but because theoretically, her enemy is flat-footed and so she should avoid it. However, with a freaky priest like this, it's hard to say! ;)

with singleminded lethality Stone tunes out all other distractions as the moment of his kill comes near. Apparently messing with someones brain can give them quite the astonishing focus for their given task.
Stone waits...
20...15...10...
Then he lets fly!

Surprise Round, Initiative 11:

Initiative: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (5) + 6 = 11
As a standard action Stone will shoot his crossbow for an assassination attempt.
To hit: 1d20 + 10 + 20 + 1 ⇒ (13) + 10 + 20 + 1 = 44 +20: true strike, +1: Point Blank Shot
Damage: 2d6 + 3 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (4, 4) + 3 + 2 + 1 = 14 +DC 17 or be slain +2: oppertune strike, +1: point blank shot
After firing the shot Stone will duck back down among the scales, hiding again.
Re-stealthing: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (3) + 10 = 13

Almost before he can confirm he hit his mark (To hit: 44, 14 damage, DC 17 Fort save or die), Stone has already ducked behind Vitreous's hide and hidden from sight. (13 stealth check vs opposed perception check)

"No, seriously." Jakk says, staring at Vitreous' mustache and ducking the occasional apple from Ceru - though they're all blocked by the aggressively defensive shields. "You guys seeing this? I mean, I didn't believe that the mythical mustachioed snake really existed, much less winged..." he mutters, as suddenly a bolt flies at his face from right next to him!

Unfortunately, a terrified little foxling's shaking hands aim directly for his over-large metal shoulder pads, the bolt handily shattering off of the metal.

Layla uses the opportunity to bring her Kuri up and under the less spiked arm, sliding the small, curved blade right between the weaknesses of the armor and raking across the ribs.

"Hmp." Jakk grunts, looking at the two in surprise. Instead of keeling over, however, you hear something boiling in him.

Even as vomit erupts from his mouth, a brief flair of energy from some of the columned runes a scream rises from several of those chained to the columns and from deep below, before suddenly going silent, and Jakk straightens again, furious... as a bolt slams right through his eye.

He screams again, as do a few others from the columns and some below, with another flash of energy from rune-etched columns. He staggers backwards, ripping the bolt from his eye... which now glows with a dead malevolence, oozing with pus, disease, and filth.

Already in the midst of a flying leap and attack, Beylinda lands in front of him, and swings her curved blade heavily across his chest, leaving a trail of sparks and a deep, deadly gash, leaving him burbling blood, though no more runes or pillars flair.

Frosty lashes out quickly and viciously at Jakk, snapping into him twice... though with surprisingly little effect.

Ceru, you are now at a set of columns thrumming with the sounds of water running on the inside - you realize that these columns are likely where the water and green mist is flowing into the channels below -, with runes carved on them - one each - and chained creatures. You see a ratfolk, a humanoid frog, a dwarf-like woman, a svirfneblin, and a kitsune all bound in chains. They have been painted with runes on their forehead that match the ones on the column they're attached to. It's hard to tell if any are breathing.

Sunny, you've made it up to nearly adjacent to him.

The shields spin and rush, slamming into Layla and Shaedo!
Both of you are pushed back 10 ft. and take 3 damage!

"**** you." says Jakk, "I'm immortal, **** ****" he laughs while coughing up blood, and breathing raggedly - flecks of spittle, blood, and puss flying from his mouth.

You have killed him twice, and dealt 31 dmg on top of it.

Go, heroes!

Hey, Sunny, did you sneak over to the rune pillars like Ceru?
Or are you headed somewhere else?

EDIT:
Hey, GM, what color does Jakk's pierced eye glow?
Perception: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (10) + 9 = 19 +2 from favored enemy
Do I think the poison on my blade affected him?
If so, do I think adding more might help or just be redundant?
Heal: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (16) + 9 = 25
And, do I notice any other particularly weak points in Jakk's defenses?
Profession (Hunter, esp. of Gobs & other local vermin): 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (1) + 7 = 8
Also, I somehow forgot an important Layla ability ...
"Favored Enemy: Humanoid (Goblinoid)

So... if possible, please add 2 to the perception check I just made, and also to my recent kukri attack and damage.
Thanks!

Jakk's eye flickers with yellow lightning.

He does seem both negatively affected by the poison and the damage. He is clearly not immune to such effects. Adding a second does increases the "frequency" (duration) by 1 round, and increases the DC by +2. Given that the effect is only two-rounds long (and he may or may not fall unconscious), you may want to wait a round before applying poison again to see if he is rendered unconscious for a few hours.

Your profession check is unfortunately too low to tell you anything at this time.

EDIT: I will apply the Favored Enemy retroactively.

"We'll see about that!"
The determined little halfling responds to Jakk mentally, knowing it's just her allies who will hear it, since she is trying to remain stealthy. (See check below.)

Layla takes a swift action to heal herself for hit points: 1d6 ⇒ 5,
then switches to her mwk. horsechopper as she darts behind Jakk to flank with Beylinda.

If possible, she expends her remaining two uses of the assassinate ability to use it again, without studying the target for another round in between. This time she's going for the paralysis effect, with the fort DC still at 17.

Shaedo looks in disbelief as Jakk is killed twice. Her shot missed, but Layla's and Stone's didn't. He was killed- twice! He... should be dead! Shaedo cries out over the network. Then, the thought occurs to her. Screams. The others screamed, as he died... and, they died instead!

"oomf!" She cries as she is knocked back. She has to share her thought!

Everyone! I think Jakk is stealing the lives of the people chained up! If we kill him- which we have already!- they die instead of him! We have to take the prisoners- out of the ritual somehow! Or- I don't think he will die!

Shaedo geckers quietly, thinking to herself, These things are never as easy as they seem at first!

She pulls from her vest and downs a potion of mage armor before moving. Current AC: 22
