Ali's Will Save: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (9) + 5 = 14
Rounds Confused: 1d4 ⇒ 2

Ennoia strikes first as she is quite quick, but the unsightly creature before her makes her very brain hurt. She quickly fails to be able to tell friend from foe as she sees the brightly-dresssed Ali and lets loose four arrows at the man.

The spell says to attack, which I interpret to mean, to your best ability. If a wizard is confused and chooses Acid Splash over Disintegrate, then that is just metagaming. You are attacking them because you want them to die, so it makes sense.

Ennoia slams a single arrow into Ali's side as the confused man looks back at the woman and roars with bestial vigor. "A plant?! A spy?! I knew it!" he cries as he launches a salvo of Toppling Magic Missiles at the archer.

Magic Missile: 4d4 + 4 ⇒ (4, 1, 2, 4) + 4 = 15

Ennoia Rounds Confused: 1d4 ⇒ 3

Ali's magic missiles slam into Ennoia, but they don't seem quite strong enough to topple her as Grimdoc buffs himself and looks at the pair fighting each other.

As this happens, the creature laughs as it flies up to Grimdoc, staying 10' from the man and lashing out with a spongy tentacle to try and slam into the man. "Seems like your friends are a bit distracted, dwarf!"

Ali was at 40/59 before Ennoia's full attack, then hit by the first two for 55 damage, putting him at -15 with a Con of 14. Without the aura, he'd be dead!

I think Joesef would go before Ali, right? So it brings him up to -10 and he's stable without having to roll I think.

Ali lies on the ground, bleeding heavily from the arrows in his chest. But he is still AMAZING and SPECTACULAR.

Vladek unleashes magical flames onto Joesef as the man tumbles past the confused witch and applies some much needed healing to Ali.

Ennoia, seeing that she has harmed Ali, realizes her mistake and bashes herself in the face as she weeps openly, while Ali rests on the ground, not in fear of imminent death from bleeding, though Grimdoc is feeling the effects of the Emissary's attacks.

He believes the creature might be a chaotic outsider, so he tries to improve his attacks against the beast, however he chose poorly as it seems to not aid in his help, causing his first attack to miss.

Vladek yells while Grimdoc hits it. "Yeah, all of these people are traitors to the Society! They are in league with that ooze thing!" *cough cough*

Seeing the outsider bane had no effect, he will switch his bane to "ooze" and try again.

Bet you didn't like those arrows, did ya blobbo?
How about some of this action?

The exact same rolls on 2d100. Shouldn't I win money for that or something?

Vladek points a shaking finger at the Emissary while Qadathra clings weakly to his neck.

"That...thing...you...it has...it IS...A BULBOUS BOUFFANT!"

Bulbous bouffant? Replies Qadathra, very much dazed and confused.

"GAZEBO!"

Macadamia.

"Plethora?"

Tuberculosis....

And those better not be my last words....

That high, Joesef? Always the optimist. :)

Ennoia and Grimdoc send out severe attacks onto the Emissary, damaging the prophet of the Outer Gods beyond, with Grimdoc gaining some aid from Joesef to boost his defensive capabilities.

Ali's body remains on the ground, moans escape from his mouth as his chest heaves. Vladek and Qadathra remain confused, babbling incoherently.

The Emissary roars in your minds as it lashes out at the dwarf, determined to win, trying to end the life of the Inquisitor before he can smash the head of the creature with his hammer. "THAT WAS YOUR LAST TIME TO STRIKE ME!" he cries as his tentacles lash out.

Slam @ Grimdoc-30 AC: 1d20 + 21 ⇒ (20) + 21 = 41 Oh... that's so unlucky.
Damage: 2d8 + 8 ⇒ (4, 6) + 8 = 18 DC 21 Will or lose two levels.

Slam Confirmation @ Grimdoc-30 AC: 1d20 + 21 ⇒ (6) + 21 = 27

The first strike slams through Grimdoc's armor and knocks him unconscious as the last remnants of his soul begin to form outside of his body.

With the fall of Grimdoc, the Emissary moves up next to Ennoia, choosing her as his next target.

I don't think I have a confusion roll pending, the effect lasted 3 rounds and these have now passed. Actually, now that I'm recounting posts, I see that I have had four rounds of confusion instead of the three you rolled. It doesn't really matter anyway since I was able to act freely last round, just saying.
First
Second
Third
Fourth

Ennoia takes another step back and unleashes another volley of arrows.
DR won't be an issue with smite evil, I believe. In case it isn't evil, all attacks are cold iron and good-aligned. Ennoia also has the Clustered Shots feat.

+1 Holy Composite Longbow (cold iron, RS, DA, Manyshot, PBS, smite): 1d20 + 14 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 14 + 3 = 192d8 + 26 + 4 ⇒ (3, 1) + 26 + 4 = 34
Extra damage if Evil: 2d6 ⇒ (3, 3) = 6

+1 Holy Composite Longbow (cold iron, RS, DA, PBS): 1d20 + 14 + 3 ⇒ (7) + 14 + 3 = 241d8 + 13 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 13 + 2 = 21
Extra damage if Evil: 2d6 ⇒ (4, 2) = 6

+1 Holy Composite Longbow (cold iron, RS, DA, PBS): 1d20 + 9 + 3 ⇒ (18) + 9 + 3 = 301d8 + 13 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 13 + 2 = 18
Extra damage if Evil: 2d6 ⇒ (3, 5) = 8

AC is 25 against it.

Ah, you are right. However, you need to make the check against the aura since you haven't succeeded yet. I'll give you until tomorrow to make the save! If you fail and roll a 1 on the number of rounds, then you need to make a second save for this round. (Essentially two saves if you fail one and roll a 1 on rounds.)

If Ennoia doesn't post before my next update:

Will Save: 1d20 + 10 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 10 + 2 = 13
Rounds Confused: 1d4 ⇒ 2 Thus, you would be confused this round and last round, which means you would make another save at the start of your next turn.

I'm actually in Ali's square from my movement last turn.

Joesef, seeing that he is not next to the offending creature, tries to join the fight!

Rapier: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (9) + 7 = 16 for Damage: 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7
Shield: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (16) + 5 = 21 for Damage: 1d3 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4

Joesef then steps away from the creature.

Oops - thought I had posted already and Grim was dead.

That ought to finish him

1 person marked this as a favorite.

With a final volley of arrows, the Emissary is put down, however Grimdoc's soul is ripped from him as his body disintegrates into a pile of dwarven brainstem and a pair of eyeballs. The remains seem to slowly creep towards the Emissary, but as the creature perishes the last bits of Grimdoc stop moving.

The bad guy was a Vespergaunt.

With the Emissary's defeat, the doom that had come to Dustpawn passes. In time, the town's waters recover from the dream crystal toxin's taint (faster, of course, with your aid), and the people of Dustpawn recover from their curse. The wreck of the Lirgen's Glory becomes a new draw to the town as word spreads, and the influx of curious scholars and historians seeking to explore the wreck breathes new life into the town.

It may not be enough to completely revitalize Dustpawn to its glory days as a thriving mining town, but it's a breath of fresh air nevertheless, and the townsfolk know they have you to thank for it. After a few days and some clandestine manipulation of the town's black market, the townsfolk present you with rewards of thanks for the people of Dustpawn have come to know their heroes.

Dalviss Crenn himself thanks you in person. He offers you his amulet and belt as thanks and hands over the promised halberd for their work, and lets them know that should they ever find themselves in Dustpawn again in the future, they'll never have to pay for a meal or room.

Yet despite the festive atmosphere, not all in the region is the same. Dustpawn's citizens will suffer from an unusual number of nightmares for the rest of their lives. And when the ship fell from the sky, it scattered fragments of itself across the countryside. While the cultists have scoured the region for these fragments, some may yet remain in the wild, their tainted energies slowly seeping into the environment, waiting patiently for a new host to infect . . .

I will wrap up Chronicles and last minute purchases tomorrow! You have saved Dustpawn!

Wow, what a finish. I need to look up that creature. RIP Brother Grim.
Thanks for sticking with it GM. I know it was getting a bit hectic for you in RL, and this was a challenge from the beginning with our rag-tag band. Was a fun ride.

Wow, all I can say is that my little multiclass experiment seemed like a failure. I can't do anything that really helps most of the time at the higher levels. I will either have to spend the gold to retrain him or simply retire him I guess.

Maybe, but get a lot of credit in my book for actually trying it (and while you weren't the best combatant, your skill usage was pretty helpful, so maybe it's not so bad)! :D

JESUS CHRIST, what a nail-biter!!! I've never been that close to a TPK! Gods bless you, Ennoia! I knew that last saving throw would be the deciding factor!

I do not want to pay for a wish so take Grimdoc share and use to pay for raise dead and restoration we already spent. Grim is in Erastil happy hunting ground of pie .

I knew grim was on his last round even without the crit. He was just trying to buy time for the rest to recover.

What a finish indeed! That last encounter was very unlucky for us... Um really sorry to see Grim rest in peace, but I know how you feel. I've lost a level 10 character in PFS and decided it was a decent enough ending for his storyline. If you change your mind though, I'll be more than happy to contribute!
