Nevermind on all counts, then (there isn't even any point giving him the Eye if Ali can't try to fascinate him).

![]() |

Yep, let's just:
Ali backs away, keeping his hands up at shoulder-height and his eyes on Dalviss. "It's gonna be ok, big fella. We'll come back later after you've caught your breath. It's gonna be ok." Ali keeps backing away until he loses line of sight with the man and then takes off for the temple of Erastil, the party's new homebase.

![]() |

So is Dalviss still hostile?
Grimdoc will likewise back away if Dalviss does not appear to be backing down to let us attempt to help the whale-monster.
We only mean to help. There is something wrong here. We will return, potentially with help.
Assuming Dalviss does not follow, Grim will keep up with Ali. Otherwise, he will continue to talk to Dalvis (or defend himself, only if attacked).

![]() |

Is there a way to go around him without a fight?
Ennoia remains silent, not sure what to expect from a relenting spawn of evil. She follows Ali, her bow still in her hands.

GM Bold Strider |

Dalviss is friendly to Ali and unfriendly to the rest of you, mostly due to the curse affecting his mind. He doesn't appear to be advancing, so you can easily avoid a fight at this time due to Ali's spell.
Since Grimdoc and Ennoia flee along with Ali, Vladek and Joesef quickly follow, leaving the halberd-wielding man to defend the fallen giant.
Moving just past the hulking man, the group ducks into the temlpe, herding the antlered men and women back into the building. At the altar, you see the leader of the temple has turned into a man reminiscent of a satyr: top-half human, bottom-half stag, still bipedal. His antlers have grown even more extravagant.
"Greetings, children. What brings you here?" he asks with a content face.

![]() |

"Well, at least your mind seems in the right place!" Ali says as he stares at the satyr-man. "These transformations are getting worse. We need to find the source. Oh, and there's a sick man down the road, big and rubbery. Can you send someone to go help him?"
Ali turns to his companions, "Meanwhile, how do we find those cultists? Hey..." he turns back to the priests, "have you seen any unfamiliar figures lurking about town, maybe with some orbs or a strange device...?" Ali is really at a loss about where to go next so he hopes the animal-priests can help them out.

GM Bold Strider |

"Hmm... why would we need to fix this?" the man asks. "These are the blessing of the forest." he says he a contented face, however the man does nod to an acolyte as Ali mentions an injured person. The antlered woman quickly exits the temple, likely to go provide aid.
"Hmm... strange orbs?" he says, pondering the idea aloud. "I think Abby at the Vendstadt Inn had this giant golden orb thing. It looked quite nice. Said she was an artist. I quite liked her taste." he meanders. "Never heard or seen anything about cultists, though." he remarks.

![]() |

"Well, antlers might be nice for you folks and all, but go take a look at the rubbery fellow down the street and don't forget the bat-lady we brought in earlier. Not so nice for them and we're trying to help them."
To the party, Ali says, "Come, let's go to the Inn and find Abby then. Sounds like we're hot on the trail now!"

GM Bold Strider |

You make your way to the Vendstadt Inn across the town, finding that the townfolk are acting oddly. The prayer circle in the center of town seems to continue, but you run across other townsfolk acting weird. Three residents, a couple parents and a small child who've taken on the features of bats, hang upside down from the eaves of a shop's roof, sleeping. As you pass them, you see another resident quickly scurry down into a hole in the ground.
As you reach the outside of the inn, you hear muffled chanting coming from the second floor.

![]() |

Uh oh.
Joesef will turn around and tell the rest of the party that while he was on the way up the stairs the chanting took a different tone and actually stopped for a moment. I think the ritual then turned into the casting of normal spells. I also think that one of the voices sounded like the woman who took the Orrery.

Ennoia rushes forward towards the chanting voice.

"You mean they're casting things now? Well, what are we waiting for? Grim, lead the charge!" After Grim charges up the stairs with Joesef, Ali will follow just behind.

GM Bold Strider |

The group rushes around the first floor and move up the stairs, reaching the second floor and flinging open the door to the room that contains the sounds of spells.

I don't think you need concentration checks for immediately/swift spells. At least I know you don't need defensive casting checks, not 100% on normal concentration checks.

Ennoia breaks free and dodges around the writhing tentacles to move into the center of the room as she uses her free hand to heal some of the crushing wounds delivered by the scaled appendages summoned from some unspeakable horror.
As she moves past the men, she sees that they aren't carrying any weapons except the wands, though she has drawn the attention of all six occupants of the room, despite the chanting of Ali in the hallway.
Grimdoc is not as lucky as Ennoia. The dwarf grows in size to help break free as he tosses his lucerne hammer into the writhing mass at his feet. He pulls out his dwarven waraxe and hacks at the tentacles gripping his legs and working their way up to his waist, but the swarm of rubbery grippers is too much and the dwarf spends most of his effort trying to merely keep his head free from the tentacles.

@GM - Not that it mattered that time (unless they have really low AC), but Grimdoc dropped
his lucern hammer to equip his dwarven waraxe since he was grappled
(I believe it counts as a 1-hand wpn due to racial affinity)
Grimdoc sees the room get crowded with undead after the silence literally go out the window.
Bah! Ennoia, save some for me!
He strains against the tentacles knowing his large size may fail him any moment.
CMB, large: 1d20 + 12 + 1 ⇒ (13) + 12 + 1 = 26 vs CMD?
Vlad: Do the summoned undead occupy spaces physically,
or can Grim overlap with them?
I will wait to see if Grim breaks free before figuring out where he moves into the room.
Large size one more round, fast healing/4 and rezfire/8 still up. MOVE and SWIFT actions pending...
Joey, if you gots any of that healing channel mojo, Ali is looking a little bit iffy

They're corporeal, so they absolutely take up space. See if you can stay Large some way (or manage to pick your hammer back up) - then you'll have reach! ^^
