he grew to large size and increased reach to 10' per map. Let me know if 10' reach does not reach foe as shown? I could not find any rules on which squares to occupy when increase size. So went left to right. If that is not allowed, just keep hammer with 20' reach.

@Grimdoc: Ah yes. I forgot enlarging lets you choose a direction to grow in!
@Vladek: You know of the spell and the ability, but the only way to counter it is to use Dispel Magic or its ilk.
Grimdoc cuts into the Captain with abandon, choosing to drop his lucerne hammer in favor of the shorter nodachi. He notices the cutting blade is more effective than his hammer, but he still thinks he should do more damage to the frogman that it appears that he is receiving.
Ali summons up a swarm of monkeys as he is barely able to hold on to the magical threads that he is pulling as they steal his wand, but their gnashing teeth seem to do nothing to the captain.
Ali and Qadthra's arcane blasts do seem to work, however, and the Captain appears to be weakened severely by the repeated assault.
Joesef, in an effort to aid the group, sends out a blast of holy energy that heals everything in the room, including the Captain as the frogman steps out of the swarm and snaps a finger, disappearing in a puff of smoke.
Additionally, it appears that the aura of Repulsion has vanished along with the Captain.

Somehow I either misread or missed the vanishing act completely.

Sorry. The map was in error. That is the Captain's Quarters to the North. However, it seems reasonable that he might go there, so your actions still make sense. Think of these doors like Star Trek. Automatic and you use a push button to open.
Ali moves to the doorway that led to the Captain's Quarters and slams his hand against the pad next to the door. A futuristic whoosh sounds as the door slides open and reveals that the Captain did not return to his room.
Qadathra follows behind after turning invisible while Vladek heals himself.
Joesef and Grimdoc follow, trudging through the snow and ice.

Ali moves down the hall and opens the other door to see if the Captain is hiding in there.
GM Bold Strider |
Joesef takes the time to heal himself in the snow and icy rain as Grimdoc pushes past him to join the party as Qadathra and Ali move to open the door to the last room that they refused to open before.
Whoooooosh!
Three bunk beds sit near this room's western wall. The remains of a small shrine clutter one corner of the room, and numerous books rest on thin shelves lining the chamber.
As Ali looks in he sees a shadowy elf whose body is made of the darkness of space. Its eyes resemble spiraling galaxies and its long, thin fingers end in talons. It's dead eyes turn to the man.

The incorporeal creature floats towards Ali as it tilts its head to the side and seems to stare into the abyss of Ali's soul.
You look out and see thousands of people here and you wheel out your favorite trick: the Disappearing Man in Osirion's Tomb. You set up the crowd as the band plays Ultimate Reverse Numeration, your favorite rock piece. You enter the tomb and your assistants lower the sheet over the tomb. You snap your fingers and the sheet is lifted, but the tomb falls apart at the last second and collapses in pieces around you.
Mortified, the crowd begins to boo. Thousands of people begin to yell and scream as you fall to your knees. Your big break lost to the wind as the rotten fruit begins to pelt you. You merely wish you could shrivel up and die at this moment.
Phantasmal Killer! You know the drill! Will then Fortitude.
The rest of you look onward, but Ali looks entranced by what he sees. Well, Joesef can barely see the outline of the man, so perhaps he cannot make that out, but Qadathra lets him know anyway.

Question before I act, as I'm running low on magic: did the thing speak/make sound when it cast the spell?
Ali Khalid Mustafa Ansari |
Since the saves happen when the spell happens (on the creature's turn) and Vladek went after the creature, I don't think I can use fortune on the spell... unfortunately ;) I'm considering my options depending on how this creature cast that spell.

"Boy, you know, maybe I can find the captain over this way..." Ali says as he quickly exits the room. "Good luck! I have faith in you, Grimdoc!"
Pull out wand of cure light wounds and prepare to move in for healing duty. I don't have many spells left and I'm not confident my enchantments are going to be effective against this guy; I'd rather save them in case the captain shows back up.
Brother Grimdoc |
So is the captain in the room with the swirl thing?
Grimdoc will move up and swing at the captain if he can reach him.
Not sure if repulsion still in affect or if Grim can reach this round. He will swing with +1 lucern if a non-corporeal, otherwise drop and go with adamantine weapon on captain
Grimdoc enters the room and prepares to attack the creature or captain that chased Ali away.
Hey bud, where is he?
GM Bold Strider |
Vladek blesses Ali, but the latter decides to turn tail and run after experiencing the mental stress of the creature's insight.
Qadathra fails to hit the creature with his wand as the bolts seem to dissipate before striking the creature. Joesef uses the time to heal himself again and moves closer.
Grimdoc moves into the room and sees the space-like elf and decides to take a swing with his lucerne hammer as he cannot seem to find the Captain.
@Grimdoc: Take a Lucerne Hammer attack against the creature.
As Grimdoc takes a swing, the creature steps forward and reaches out its hand and it pierces his chestpiece. The dwarf feels the chill of the cosmos reaching through his soul as the creature seems to bring out some ephemeral piece of the dwarf and scatters it across the room.

@Grimdoc: Can't see how you can get an angle on the creature when it comes up out of the ground at its current location as marked on the map. If Ali wasn't there, then sure, but you can't 5' anywhere at the moment and get a hit in.

GM Bold Strider |
Your wand is currently on the floor as you would have dropped it when you fell unconscious as you have not stowed it this fight, but it would still take a move action for Qadathra to pick it up after moving to you. Also, retrieving an item from a Handy Haversack is a move action, so that doesn't really apply here.
