Swanky!
GM Tektite |
Zynep and I were talking about this last night, but I have been meaning to explain my party's "TPK" when I played Enemy's Enemy.
So we made it the first room with the youths and bluffed our way in. Told the thugs we were wanting to join up. GM had thugs ask us how we got in and we said Ylandria, the only answer that would give us away.... So the thugs go back and tell the bosses, Titus uses his wand of gaseous form, sneaks down the rubble tunnel, checks us out from the mouth, unknown to us. We tell the youths to leave and then enter the final room. Well...they're waiting for us, buffed, prepped, ect....
The fight was not pretty. Plus four moook instead of two. We wasted at least two rounds and a color spray dealing with the thugs. Between a combination of poor tactics, not knowing each other's tactics, and some poor rolls, three out of the four of us were on the ground...quickly. My magus took a hit with an explosive bomb and couldn't make the Ref. save, even using a Folio Reroll. It was a bad scene.
You guys, on the other hand, did well. Taking the thugs out in two rounds really helped you. The room with the youths was trapped, all the thug had to do was say a phrase and anyone standing in water would have taken electricity damage and anyone on a dry spot would have taken wind damage. Plus the noise from the trap would have alerted the BBEG. I didn't have the thug say the phrase right off, because I figured, knowing the effect, he would get up the stairs first, which, he never made it. So you guys had the element of surprise and the final encounter didn't have a chance to buff.
Between Omrax's successful charge and having Step Up, Varg's always devastating blows, and of course..Zynep's finger of the goddess, blow you pants off spell...well you guys made it look easy. Kudos to you guys, really!

Huzzah! That is excellent.

Thank-you, Burglar.
This is great news. Very much looking forward to experiencing the way you run a game.

The answer is "relatively poorly, with at least one error per fight." Usually the error works out in your favor though! Stupid season 0s with monsters from the AP that have abilities with the same name that do different things...
Just let me know when we're all ready. I might start up the thread now for check-ins and whatnot. I DID

Don't worry. EF is around now. Gameplay shenanigans to come soon when I have time.
Nebten |
EF is watching you. EF is everywhere.
Nevis Lodge: Severing Ties is still painfully going. Both Linnea & Varg have leveled twice since that game started.
Maybe the dice gods will grant mercy on the party and turn them all to stone.

I was going to mention the Nevis Lodge game the others day, when I noticed it in the threads. I think they are just starting to enter the Lissalan hideout.

Ugh, Maaarv got himself into a mess. Facing two devil beasts and nobody has silver except the gunslinger, who's virtual d20 is cursed. So much fun. The scenario takes place in Absalom, so I'll see if we can withdraw and make haste to an armory.
Signboy77 |
I can't believe I hadn't upgraded his rapier to either cold iron or silver. I think it's a devil - which means silver (or at least, I think it does). I still get mixed up on the whole demon/daemon/devil differences. I guess it's my religious upbringing, but I always figured them to be the same and that's just a cultural thing that I can't get around as far as PF is concerned.
But honestly, there's no reason why Maaarv hasn't picked up a silver rapier. Poor planning on my part. But Feral really should be taking more AoOs on Maaarv.
But yeah, I'm going to try to get the others to withdraw so we can get some silver.
And also, I figured since it's an old one that most have played it, but I didn't want to give away too much.

Ooh, Wardstone is a good scenario.
And don't let Burglar snow you — he runs a fine game. (Your secret's out, man!)

Yeah, I keep hoping I'll crit threat with the rapier, but no luck yet. I'm hoping if the cleric wakes up, he'll put his channel positive energy to good use. Funny how clerics will forget to do that, isn't Tektite? ;)
Edit: Actually, maybe he shouldn't, as it would likely heal the demons as well - I don't think he has the selective channel feat. It's a comedy of errors.

I'm looking for a substitute GM for my Cyhpermage Dilemma game. I am just asking if somebody can finish up the fight I have currently going. I thought it would have ended by now. The reason is that I'm going to be away from internet services from the 25th through the 5th of November. I would hate to have that long of a lull. Also, I honestly thought we would be further along then we are.
So if one person wants to GM that's fine. Or we can get really nasty and 4 people can take a persona of each of the remaining grunts, that would be interesting too. A little PvP one could say . . .
I think I am able to provide the grunt's stat-block, but I can't give out the adventure. Sorry
Goals are pretty easy, kill the PCs. The grunts give up if they get down to 3 hps. Last guy standing gives up at 5 hps.
Any questions or volunteers?
Nebten |
Baron, if you could do that, I would appreciate it. The question is, will the Professor be running it? =v)
All you need to do is just to finish the fight and the post script if you want. I would have called it, but I keep dropping their PCs with lucky shots. Got to keep the fear alive, yah know. This will give a good pause point so they can think about their next move when I come back.
Tektite, thanx for your offer, but you already got 5 games going my man.
And Red, no thanx. I want people to enjoy the game, not be dragged through one like a rock tied to a mule. ;D

No more pregens for me! I had planned to never use one, broke down and did it, and PCs died. I'm content to watch from the sideline, being taunted by all if you.
I played Old Kyra once, was really boring but nobody died (thanks to 11th level Grapple Power.)
---Ha, the only better result than this is when a local gameday has at least 2 tables and your table finishes way early (like "Mists of Mwangi-tier" early.) Then the DM calls your bored self over when a beefy enemy are Bestiary Classics, and the DM says "You can be this guy; I already have too many mooks/weather effects/rounds passing/falling rocks to track. Plus, I know you love having their blood on your hands."*
Alternativly I have gotten the oppotunity to help add some diversity to "(Basically) Double the CR because all 9 players want to stay on a single boat in a S&S."
Ha! Yeah! Crank that APL to MAXIMUM AMOUNTS! DOUBLE THE ENEMIES!
"What else is roughly CR 7 and likely at a *redacted*?" I flip through a bestiary for two seconds, find a *redacted*, which is CR8 and really mean. "Oh, man! *redacted*! Just apply the young template!" "Ha ha ha! Excellent. Do that."

Tektite, Raoul & company are fighting a bunch of Shinkeer clones in Shifty's Perils of the Pirate Pact.

Oo! Oo! Pick me! I'll definitely want to try the new classes. And I have two 1st level blobs to use!
Signboy77 |
I'd like to try it out. I'd be starting with a fresh-faced 1st level, but I would like to be a part of this.
EndlessForms |
I'm most interested in the Investigator and the Shaman; I'll have to look them all over though once it comes out later today.

I call brawler! I want to do my part in making monks extinct!

Signboy77 |
Speaking of monks... I have a monk that finished up his third scenario a little bit ago and I haven't decided how to finalize him for 2nd level. You know, not sure what archetype I want to use, etc.
Do you think I could use those chronicles for that character and just refurbish him to one of these Advanced/Hybrid classes?
Signboy77 |
Wilhelm Scream - need to figure which of these new classes would be most appropriate for a name like that. Monk certainly wasn't.
EDIT: Think I want to try the swashbuckler - I haven't played a fighter or a gunslinger yet and this sounds like a fun concept.
thunderspirit |
Arcanist (sorcerer/wizard)
Bloodrager (barbarian/sorcerer)
Brawler (fighter/monk)
Hunter (druid /ranger)
Investigator (alchemist/rogue)
Shaman (oracle/witch)
Skald (barbarian/bard)
Slayer (ranger/rogue)
Swashbuckler (gunslinger/fighter)
Warpriest (cleric/ fighter)
My vote would be Skald or Slayer for that name. :-)
Signboy77 |
Oh, I hadn't seen the complete list yet. Didn't know Skald was one of the new ones. Oh, I do like that. And the name does fit well. I picture the slayer as being a silent but deadly type.
Fate, or perhaps my dependence on using pop culture to name my characters, has made this decision easy for me. Wilhelm will be be a Skald.

Disclaimer: Do not accept Burglar's claims as "claims." As soon as he sees the play test, he will likely want to make something entirely different. In fact, he might be thinking about making a Slayer, only to spout Slayer song titles and lyrics while making it Rain Blood.

One of our local players has an Oracle of metal named Raan Deio.
This Slayer concept is now an absolute must.
