I am still really enjoying this, your guys roll playing puts mine to shame, I get locked into roll playing the character, but not interacting with the other players. I am slowly trying to change that, but a teething baby and a constantly 24 hours a day morning sickness wife is making my posting pretty patchy, I apologize for that.

The DMing and story telling is excellent, I actually invest in the wealth-fare of the NPCs. All in all, this is an excellent fun.

All in all, I would agree with the others and say long may we play this.

No worries ADMAE. I'd say it sounds like you have your hands full! :) And I always enjoy your posts.

Wait, Teething Baby? AND A morning sick wife? Did you forget Rag's #1 rule? Only one in diapers at a time! ;)

Just Kidding! Sounds like (another) round of congratulations are coming up soon? :D

I think Kajetan's shyness and introversion are key to his character -- so it's logical that his interaction with the others would be more limited. Over time, he might build more trust and self-confidence allowing him to come out of his shell a little more... but then again, he might not. Kaj is distinct from the other PCs, and I think that's cool.

I don't envy what you're dealing with at home at the moment... best wishes!

I did break the golden rule, it was completely unplanned, having taken nearly 3 years and two near death experiences for us to get Fletcher, we were very surprised to find the wife was pregnant again. 15 weeks now and she is finally starting to feel normal and be able to do stuff for her self with out throwing up. If all goes to plan there will be 15 months between them, fingers crossed.

Wow, well then, I'll cross my fingers for you too ADMAE!
(Hey, there's an exception to every rule, right?!?) :)

Hey all,
Sorry, been busy at University lately, and relative in Hospital.
SHOULD be more available by next week, but if I vanish you'll know I'll be back asap.

Thanks,

~Rags

Best wishes to you and your relative -- hospital stays are never pleasant, and they're even more depressing during the holiday season... I speak from experience. I have a feeling everyone's really busy trying to deal with mounting work and family commitments as we get closer to the holidays.

Thanks TB. I appreciate it. :)

And I think your right. I Call it 'Holiday-itus'.

It's when even those of use who actually get days off of work and think we'll have more time, actually end up having LESS time due to the holiday crunch, family, and life in general. ;P

"And may your Holiday-itus be mild!" :D

Guys, very sorry for my unexpected absence of the past few days, things have been very busy here and I’ve also had some computer issues at home. Will try to catch up (perhaps slowly) over the next day or two.

Hope your relative is ok Rags.

Thanks Moth. (So do we!) ;)

I ditto Mothman's sentiments. I hope everyone has a happy festive period.

I hope that everyone had a great Christmas. Rags, is your Granny doing any better?

Christmas was wonderful!
And Happy New Year!

JUST got back into town tonight.
Will catch up asap.

Sadly Moth, No. She isn't doing well at all. But I thank you for asking. :)
Short version (Unusual for me, I know) Too many complications. Sadly, she isn't expected to make it much longer.

Male Human Bard 1/Ranger 1/Expert 3

Is Mothster still having internet problems? Hope everything's okay.

Happy New Year to all.

Happy new year!

BTW, MArdi Gras weekend here, which you'd THINK would mean I'd have time on my hands, but as the family is all out of school too, means usually,... No. I don't ;P

So in short, might not get to post much until Ash Wednesday. But I'll try to keep up.

Happy Mardi Gras! :D

Male Human Bard 1/Ranger 1/Expert 3

Hey guys,

I'll also be out of town without internet access until Tuesday night. Please feel free to NPC Keildrithe in order to keep things moving.

Happy Mardi Gras to those who celebrate it...

Guys, I was very busy at work towards the end of last week (and looks like continuing for at least a couple of days this week) plus the kids are sick at home – I will try to have an update coming soon.

Take it easy Moth, I completely understand!

BTW, I'm getting hammered at work. Again. I'll try to keep up with all my threads as best I can, but I will be pretty sparse the next couple of days until I get this next musical up and running.

Thanks, see you all soon!

The Exchange

Good luck with your kids, Mothman.

cheers

Male Human Bard 1/Ranger 1/Expert 3

Sounds like we're all in the same boat... minus the kids, for me.

French Wolf, how are things? Keildrithe's heart is still bleeding. ;-)

The Exchange

Hi mate

Things are pretty good, and although its only been a year since I dropped out my kids have changed a good deal. Lots of fun and laughter and tickle fights.

Writing wise it may not be easy or my favourite thing but I have learnt loads about building nasty NPCs. My second piece will hopefully go live soon and that was done with a couple of Superstars.

Gaming has settled down and I can just about fit in a Saturday game a month. I've joined a game on the boards and am toying with running a much smaller one too so I guess I must love this way of playing too.

Like Mothman, I am still getting side swiped by kids lack of sleep and illnesses but its happening much less often (apart from last weekend).

A few weeks ago I caught up on the game thread and what happened with Keildrithe was very strong stuff. You guys did her proud.

Cheers

Hey FW, nice to hear from you, glad that things seem to generally be going well.

Guys, I’ve been having another busy few days, which may continue somewhat for the rest of the week. I'll probably have some opportunity to post here and there. On Friday, Saturday and Sunday I may have limited or no internet access.

Cool. My busy-ness keeps swinging in and out as well. Should be able to post fairly regularly this week and next. <Crosses fingers>

By the way guys, I haven’t yet given xp for the ogre fight. Those of you who are level 5 get 640 experience points, those who are level 4 get 700 experience points.

Let me know if that is enough for anyone to level up.

Male Human Bard 1/Ranger 1/Expert 3

Why the level difference? The PF system no longer calculates XP based on PC level vs. CR? Is this just so that lower level PCs can catch up to the others faster? I'm not complaining, just curious...

Yup, just to allow people to catch up - a few people lost levels (or began play at a lower level) while we were still using 3.5 rules, under the 3.5 xp rules they would have eventually caught up, but when we switched to PF the RAW ability to catch up was lost - hence the extra xp until everyone is basically on a level playing field again.

I am giving the lower level characters approx 10% more xp (sometimes rounded up or down slightly) per encounter.

I am afraid, I have not been tracking my XP. So i have no idea where I am on the level progression.

Another question Moth, are we using the Slow or Medium Level Progression table? I kinda thought we were using the Medium, but given I'm still 4th and sitting on 17,400 xp (18,100 once I factor in the xp for the ogre fight) I assume we must be on the slow progression table (reach 5th at 23,000). In that case I'm still a fair way off.

The Exchange

I love this fight - good luck against the werecreature.

Mothman

Spoiler:
Is this encounter taken from an old Dungeon mag? I seem to remember a Forgotten Realms encounter where there was a priest of Ilmater in a cottage suffering from lycanthropy but cannot remember from where exactly.

Yes, that is the one. It is from Dungeon, issue 50-something I think.

You are on slow progression for xp.

Just a reminder, we are using the Pathfinder slow experience progression.

Keildrithe and Nicolai are 5th level and are on 23,740 experience points (taken from Keildrithe's character sheet).

Alton, Kajetan and Laithe are 4th level and are on about 17,400 experience points (I think, taken from Laithe's).

I posted this back in October, I assume the listed xp figures were prior to the xp for the monastery final encounter.

Thank you! :)

As I see it, Slow progression means we don't hit lvl 6 till 35,000. So I've got a ways to go! ;P

EDIT- finally found & double checked the Brother Abel fight Exp, plus the ogre fight. Nicholai is currently at 24,780. So Keildrithe and the other lvl 5-ers should be about that I reckon. :)

Male Human (Karandic) Bard 4 / Ranger 1

24,400 by my count... but maybe I missed some???

I think you did what I almost did. Maybe you missed the actual Brother Abel fight Exp, and now the ogres?

I know i'm tired, and sleep-deprived,...
But NOW when I add up the totals, I get 24,840, instead of the 24,780 I got yesterday. (?!?)

Hm, probably should have used a calculator yesterday. :P
I'll look up the totals again (in my copious spare time-HAH) and add it with electronic assistance. We'll figure it out.

I DO know that yes, the last exp tally (as re-re-posted above, thank you MOth!) was from Oct, well before the monastery final fight. So we should have the exp from Abel, as well as the ogres.

Did Moth give individual small xp rewards during the investigation? I don't remember. I DO remember that there was much well-played RPing, and I wouldn't be surprised if he did hand out some xp for that! :) That might account for the number you have now, verses what my (poor) math is getting?

Male Human Bard 1/Ranger 1/Expert 3

So I had 23,000 XP when me made the conversion after escaping the barrow. Since then, Keildrithe has gained 400 XP for the encounter with Abel, and 640 for the encounter with the ogres... which would put him at 24,040. I have him currently at 24,400... so either I made a typo on my sheet, or I factored in XPs (360???) for the encounter with the redcaps that preceded the arrival at the monastery... but I can no longer find any reference to an XP award for the redcap encounter.

A previous XP tally preceding the monastery fight suggested that Keildrithe had 23,740 XP... so maybe 740 from the fight with the redcaps??? Which then would put him at 24,780 post-Abel and ogres?

The latter would match Ragadolf's last calculation... though I'm afraid I can't account for the source of all the XPs.

Sorry, Moth... :-(

Male Human Bard 1/Ranger 1/Expert 3

ADMAE,

I'm really sorry to hear about the winding down of your business. Best of luck finding that next job. I can't imagine the stress you must be feeling.

Where in the US do you live?

Ohmygosh! I completely forgot about the redcaps! :O
(And Keildrithe's fantabulous skin-saving story-telling!) :)

That would easily account for the variations in our additions. IIRC Moth gave us the full XP as if we had defeated them, since you did SO well with the story telling.
OR he may have just given most of that XP to you, since you pretty much saved us all single handedly! ;)
Either way, It would still explain the math difference.

Male Human Bard 1/Ranger 1/Expert 3

But I still can't find the redcap XP award (whether individual or collective) anywhere in our posts!

Hm, me either.
I was hoping it was just me reading too quickly. :(

Male Human Bard 1/Ranger 1/Expert 3

Heh... Maybe I just decided to award myself some XP? :-)

I live in England, which explains why I update at weird times compared to the rest of you.

Trying to get out with out owing too many people too much money is a challenge.

Wife is also 7.5 months pregnant and 13 month old is very poorly at the moment with a stomach bug. So expect me to be slow to up date and DMPC mw if I hold things up.

The Exchange

Where in England?

I hope you get some light at the end of your tunnel soon, ADMAE. It all sounds a bit serious.

Cheers and take care

Male Human Bard 1/Ranger 1/Expert 3

Can't say that I noticed your odd posting times, ADMAE. I can't imagine the stress you must be feeling right now... but hang in there.

And I'm glad you're still in the game. Hopefully, it can take your mind off "all that," if only for a little while...

Well hang in there ADMAE! Just remember, it's gotta get better! :)

God bless your wife and kid(s). :) You have my prayers.

To all, sorry so slow myself lately, I'm not in as tough a spot as ADMAE, but,
Work = Busy + Home = Crazy

Catching up asap.

In case i miss it, Happy Easter to all!
