If you need an internal logic to She-Hulk's fourth wall breaking:

There are two kinds of dissociative disorders: Dissociative Identity Disorder (DID), where a person's psyche fractures and one body/brain contains two or more identities, and Dissociative Personality Disorder (DPD), where a person may tell themselves either they are not a person (depersonalization) or the situation they are in is not real (derealization). A person with DPD may also engage in degrees of both.

Bruce seemed surprised Jen did not have an "other guy" inside her when she transformed. While some think this is simply because Bruce's unique trauma gave him DID and Jen's mental health survived the transformation, perhaps, Bruce--who has indeed studied his condition more than many--is correct in his deduction that gamma mutation forces some form of dissociation upon the psyche of the mutate.

What perhaps he did not realize, is that instead of developing DID, Jen developed DPD. Specifically, she now experiences a form of derealization where she has convinced herself she is in a television show, and what we are actually witnessing is not a silly exposition/meta-commentary device for the writers, but rather a woman's tragic descent into a mental health crisis.

Otherwise, indeed as She-Hulk--a denizen of the exact same universe where one of its heroes defeated a scourge of the universe with a challenge to a dance-off and in general there are a lot of people in silly outfits fighting other people in silly outfits, all of which are inspired by sequential funny papers that were long ago primarily marketed to children--does remind us, in fact...

That it is just a show, so we should really just relax.

I want to know how Jen eats and breathes, dammit!!!!!!

Well, we know she wants to get those fries to go...

Today's was the only episode that just seemed like fluffy filler to me. I'm enjoying the show a lot, but today felt like it really didn't do anything to advance the storyline. I'm sure there's something I'm missing, though.

It set up a conflict between Jen and her She-Hulk self (people like her more when she is She-Hulk and Jen is starting to feel lost) which will no doubt have repercussions in future episodes, Wong pretty much broadcast on repeat that there's stuff happening that is threatening the fabric of reality itself which will probably impact not only this show but also feeds into the events of recent shows and movies as well as future ones, we saw more people trying to find out how to hurt She-Hulk so they can collect her blood (definitely relevant to prior and future events), and it set up the next steps in the Titania plotline.

"Donny Blaze" opening portals to Hell may also be referential to and/or set up perhaps a relative of this Donny's... or it may have been a joke. Possibly both.

Madisynn and Wongers: MTV Spring Break - Nepal. This should be a show. Loving the both of them together.

Speaking of unusual pairings, I think the next Dr Strange movie should see Stephen Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) team up with Agent Everett K. Ross (Martin Freeman) team up to solve some kind of a mystery.

Back to She-Hulk: IMO, the whole show is fluff filler. Its also a pretty on-the-nose social commentary on sexism in American culture. Something it isn't is a "beat up the bad guy" superhero drama.

I think most folks knew this before tuning in, but I'm genuinely shocked how many commenters and YouTubers there are that are upset by this. Like, who cares what Blonsky's farm will do to the timeline or how Titania being a social media influencer doesn't gel with who she was in the comics?

I think Jen twerking is no different than all the jokes of Cap' being America's heinie. I like that a woman is getting to be herself, while at the same time realizing that the "self" society enjoys/celebrates is her green alter-ego.

Disney, for all its pastel-colored watering down of the subject, opened the door to mental health in Moon Knight. There are elements of that ongoing discussion in this show, cleverly sandwiched between 4th wall breaks and sitcom humor.

Lots of folks seem distracted with parts of the show. Did anyone catch that a Marvel hero in ep3 stated that, in her capacity as a lawyer, she recognizes that the police aren't going to protect her or successfully conclude an investigation on her behalf? That's not shade at a fictional gov't agency like SHIELD or Damage Control, that's a jab at cops... on a Disney show.

I like the messages in the show, even if they're served up as soft as cotton candy. Finally, I like that the creators of the show knew ahead of time how folks would react to Jen and she's called out the show's haters a couple times now. You could make the case that she's talking about toxic online commenters we saw in ep1 but... c'mon, we know who the show is really referring to.

Anyway, I'm here for this show. I'm here for the bad, sometimes REALLY bad comedy (Donny Blaze!); I'm here for Wongers and spoiler alerts; I'm here for a show that puts a woman front and center. Once again it's Make Mine Marvel.

Great episode - Loved Wong and Madisynn (the 'Y' isn't where you think it is!). I also thought it was interesting that Wong of all people seems to have a better dating life than Jen!

I think my favorite comedy bit though were the stage magicians in court. And that even their lawyer was one. I'm glad I wasn't in the middle of drinking something while that scene played.

I also wonder if Madisynn's pact with the demon goat will come back, either in this show or elsewhere.

I just love poking at the absurdities of a Superhero world.

And can you honestly say that if Titania was created today, she would not be a Social Media presence.

Plus I kind of love the pettiness in Trademarking She-Hulk's name

oh lord... Titania made it a Perfume.
They just put out a Mid-Season trailer, giving us a little more context for Daredevil as well

I love how they are slowly building up the She-Hulk/Titania rivalry.
Yes it is different from the comics but it is so much fun

However I still want to know Why Titania broke into that court room in episode 1.

A lot of her story so far has been shown in news programs and websites people are watching. I expect for some it's easy to miss if a viewer is dismissing that as background noise.

Anyway, per what was shown in previous eps, Titania was fleeing/ragequitting traffic court. She was arrested and charged for her assault and flight, but the episode before last showed she'd been cleared of all charges (benefit of being a rich celebrity).

Love Jamilah Jamil in this role. Mocking the very type of public figure she despises IRL.

Oh, and I forgot: Titania's defense was that her outburst was triggered by low blood sugar.

I actually wish they had completed more of the costume arc this episode. We're already halfway through the series, just give us the reveal and get to the plot. This is a complaint I have in general with Marvel... like, nearly every Marvel series and movie I've seen, even the ones I've especially enjoyed: they are so fixated on setting things up for big reveals, they wreck the pacing and the story suffers. It's actually more forgivable here since it's basically a sitcom, but man is it frustrating when it happens over and over.

But looks like we'll definitely see the other very good lawyer in the Marvel universe soon and then I hope they will really be going to town with the action... be that action on the street or in the courtroom.

Sovereign Court

I'm hoping the show builds up towards a more action-filled finale. I think the show's first episode was great but it's getting a bit too lukewarm to my taste. A bit less of a focus on the lawyer/office drama and more uses of superpowers would be nice.

Normally I would agree with you but the last couple Marvel shows I've watched have had everyday life (or in this case, daily life impacted by powers) than actual superheroing stuff.

While I think there is going to be more action forthcoming, the show has made it clear in these actual words that it is a "lawyer show," so I have been holding my expectations that it will stick to lawyer show theming even with superhero elements.

This said, since it is also Marvel, if it still somehow has a CGI heavy ending with a giant skybeam and explosions I wouldn't be terribly surprised.

A lot of it is going to come down to "Who wants her Blood and why?" That's the Superhero subplot I think. Plus the Mid season trailer shows her in her Hero suit, which she presumably just picked up from the "Dripmaster."

RPG Superstar 2015 Top 8

I agree, Greylurker.

I also want to apologize for spelling Jameela Jamil's name so egregiously wrong. I knew how to spell it and somehow that random spelling came out instead. I must have been thinking of Kamilah and her less attractive and popular sister.

Ugh. I would have hulked out far earlier at that wedding than Jen did. But hope those who needed more Titania on She-Hulk action got what they wanted, even if the winner of that fight was (hilariously) a chunk of ice.

Based on ending my current prediction for who is trying to get Jen's blood is The Leader. But I could be wrong, he probably would have known her skin would be impenetrable.

Sovereign Court

Haven't watched yet but happy to hear The Leader *may* be involved... hope they bring back Tim Blake Nelson from Incredible Hulk as he showed a stellar performance in Old Henry...

I hear he is going to be in the next Captain America movie

I loved that they continue to be spot on and hilarious at mocking and joking the internet with Jen's breaking the 4th wall comments. It's like they're seeing the future (or that people online as a group as too easy to predict).

He is. However in this instance, DQ, it might not JUST be the Leader, but maybe the Red Ghost, The Mad Thinker and possibly the Wizard. (I mean the name of the reddit group indicates it...)

Yes, he is confirmed and in the IMDB cast list.

Which is also why (being a member of the Intelligencia in the comics aside) I think he's likely involved. Beyond the obvious Hulk connections, it helps set up/remind people who he is before he appears in the Cap movie since a lot of people may have forgotten his role in Incredible Hulk.

THomas Seitz wrote:

Not wanting to burst your bubble, but I wouldn't take that the mention of Intelligencia guarantees the presence of all those people. Especially since we only have three episodes left and still need to introduce Leapfrog and Daredevil; introducing a whole bunch of others beyond a given mastermind seems a bit sloppy. I could be wrong, but my sense is in the MCU's case, Intelligencia is the cover/information gathering website for the big bad, it isn't necessarily also the organization. They've done this in the MCU before, taken the name of something that exists in the comics but reworks it for a film/21st century context.

Although it would be funny if those are usernames for members of the site.

Like many I also think Todd (her creepy date who was asking how to kill her) may also be involved with the big bad.

In other news,

Do you all think Josh is just a decent guy or a plant? (Although his name keeps making me think of another comedy about a lawyer... By coincidence, Josh happens to live here...

DQ,

It's fine to burst my bubble. But right now I'm just waiting on Porcupine. At least if it's Roger. He's my favorite currently. We'll just have to see if any of the others might show up (Ie I'm going with Red Ghost and Mad Thinker along with The Leader.)

Ok so I loved the whole Super-villain therapy session. Kind of a rip from Wreck-it Ralph but still lots of fun.

This version of Blonsky just cracks me up. Really hope he and Bruce get to meet up before this is all over.

RPG Superstar 2015 Top 8

Loved the supervillains turned SNAGs. And on a more serious note I actually like that Jen, generally struggling in Patriarch's World (to coin a phrase from Wonder Woman), got in touch with her better self by talking it out with guys (mostly) genuinely interested in talking it out.

I say mostly because I think Wrecker is still on the Intelligencia's payroll. But I think the other ones were legit. Blonsky is definitely conning the system, but I don't think he's working against Jen (and he wouldn't be trying to get her blood, he doesn't need it. Although I wonder if people want Gamma-Mutant Blood, why wouldn't someone try to get his blood since he's wearing an inhibitor? Or did someone and that was why there was a malfunction in his device?).

And while I've never been in a therapy group I've been to plenty of spiritual retreats and workshops and all the nonsense within is spot on.

My theory is that while Blonsky has Gamma mutate blood, his is diluted by the fact he's also got some super soldier knock off in his blood.

Also YAY for Porcupine!!! (just wish it had been Roger Gocking. He's my favorite.)

They said it was traffic court, so the judge next door probably revoked her liscense or something and she had a tantrum.

I am LOVING this show. I wanted to wait until it wsd done to marathon it and I am truly loving it. Am NOT seeing what the issues are with Megan Thee Stallion and other silliness in the show. It is excellent thus far, and I'm seeing only angry nerds in the criticism of it.

I officially dub this 'ship, "She-Devil."

That was fun. Actually got my heart racing in a couple of the scenes there. The ending was of course infuriating. I would have shown less self-control than Jen did, if I'm honest.

Leapfrog fans, did you like how he was handled or were you disappointed?

Loved the episode but damn that ending

And of course this is exactly what Bruce warned her about in the first episode.

All I know is I'm glad we got some more stuff that might bring us into the Intelligencia wider understanding IE who all is involved.

It's also a bit too obviously a setup, between the video designed to enrage anyone and the fact that the cops armed for superhero just happened to already be on site. No matter what happens, no one with half a brain will be fooled for very long. Then again, that means roughly half the population will easily be fooled, so even after things get sorted out, there will be lots of negativity towards She-hulk afterwards.

Which I think is the idea.

I remember him from the comics as Frog Boy. I am sad he was made into a villain. But he isnt a crazed killer or anything like that. So it's cool by me.

Am okay with She Hulk and Daredevil hooking up. I think they kissed in the comics once? But this was cooler. Walk of shame/stride of pride was hilarious.

Also, if you ever got powers I would definitely start a DeathQuaker(which BETTER be your superhero name, I would license The Devastating DeathQuaker merch and go 70/30 with you on it, and I may already have a superhero outfit in mind that MAY resemble a certain glitter-handed royal superhero to better entice you) bail fund for similar situations.

Frog Boy is Leapfrog's son. Leapfrog was always a villain, his son was a very ineffective on again/off again hero.

Dirtypool,

Interestingly enough, he joined up with Iron Man to try to stop Korvac from regaining his Power Cosmic abilities.

Sorry, Freehold, DeathQuaker the superhero has been fully licensed since 1995 and you were not involved in the merch agreement.

I'mma have to issue a C&D on that costume design--it violates the DeathQuaker Testimony of Cheapass Simplicity--and you really don't want to make my lawyer angry... (You wouldn't like her when she's angry...)

((Also, for the record, my superpowers are bear hugs of death, holding people maliciously in the Light, transforming into a pillow, and detecting chocolate within 60 feet. I used to be armed with the SuperSoaker of Eldering, but I gave it to a friend's kid a few years ago.))

Don't sell yourself short DQ. You got 90', maybe 120' range on chocolate detection. And Ability Focus on those hugs.

Ah! Thank you.

This was the only thing that made me sad about Leapfrog. He didn't seem old enough to have even a teenage son who could try to redeem the name. At one point I think the son tried to hero under the name "The Fabulous Frog Man." Would love to see him show up in a Spiderman story.

I thought the costume design was great, brought it into the somewhat more realistic (in design, at least) MCU with a reasonable look.

Loved/Hated the episode.

OMG, that was PERFECT.

That opening? Gorgeous. I so loved that show when I was a little girl, and they sent it up so well. Hilarious, beautiful. I'm pretty sure they used the 6'5" set She-Hulk stand-in Malia Arrayah for the Lou Ferrigno substitute (which was great that she got to be onscreen, but also is clearly mocking the people who ridiculously claimed "tall woman in green makeup and a bodysuit" would look good in today's production standards).

As an aside, look, I don't care about CGI quality all that much, but I think the She-Hulk animation was the best it ever was in this episode, ironically in the episode where Marvel got to complain how expensive it is to create.

And the full-on John Byrne level fourth wall destruction? OMG yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. K.E.V.I.N.? Was laughing my ass off. Look, there goes my ass! *whoosh!*

And the absolute mockery of the standard "Marvel" ending? I am here for it. (Although K.E.V.I.N. clearly still threw in the Planet Hulk teaser it wanted.)

She-Hulk saving herself by giving a closing argument to the ultimate power behind everything? Yes, yes, yes, yes, yes. (Along with calling them out for the idea behind stealing the blood basically being the same "stolen supersoldier serum" plot in TFATWS and other stories.)

As always, YMMV and I am sure the folks who wanted the supersmashdown will be disappointed. But I was not, loved the surprises, and loved this show. Definitely hope there will be a season 2.

I loved it.

Truly amazing. Great comedy.

So we got Skaar now huh? Neat.

I was wrong, they did not put the on-set reference actress in a bodysuit, they actually put a big ol' bodybuilder in green paint. So a true Lou Ferrigno standin. ;)

I'm pretty much in the part of the demographic that is happy with lots of MCU content. While I can be critical if I chose to be, for the most part the with the MCU I'm just happy to see it happening onstage.

That said, I loved loved loved this finale. It was clever and surprising. It gave lots of characters moments to shine. Kevin was a hilarious idea perfectly executed. The design somehow managed to combine elements of Pixar, Disney, Star Wars, and Marvel characters.

Loved it all.
