Is there a spell that makes it rain blood across a large area?

Pathfinder First Edition General Discussion

If not, what level should it be and what effect should it have? I'm thinking it would be like normal rain but everyone has to make a save or be sicked/nauseated.

Compare to Stinking Cloud, I suppose. Though some creatures won't be affected by it at all. It might make the ground all slippery and unpleasant, and things covered by the blood will need a good wash or they'll attract vermin and other predators. Also diseases.

If you're in a place where it might happen normally - it's a fantasy setting, there might be such a place - control weather should be able to do it.

If the effect is just fluff then it might be a side effect of storm of vengeance.

Waves of blood definitely isn't rain but does suggest a sickening effect if you're going to homebrew something.

You might be able to fake it with Vision of Hell .

If you want the real thing, it's spell research time. As a GM I'd basically reflavor Stinking Cloud.

By a big area, I meant like control weather i.e 2 mile radius, while stinking cloud is only 20 foot radius

Come to think of it there's the curse terrain spells and the rain of gore hazard. That gets you a 300' radius w/lesser curse terrain (500' w/the others in that line but you don't choose exactly where it appears within the area with those) & you don't choose exactly when it happens, just the day.

Shadow Lodge

Hallucinatory Terrain might work as well.

Curse Terrain would probably be good for this.

It doesn't actually matter what the curse is, the blood rain is simply how you describe the curse; the blood rain is the fluff effect.

Yes, but it's only on the Slayer spell list.

I guess a modified rain of gore would be best (it would just rain blood instead of corpses, and make people either nauseated or sicked instead of doing damage.) Would this change the CR of it or not?

I was going to say this, but wasn't sure of anyone would get it.

You have Rain of Terror from Ravenloft.

Rain of Terror
(Conjuration) [creation]
Level: Sor/Wiz 4
Casting Time: 1 standard action
Components: V, S
Range: 1 mile
Duration: 1 hour/level
Area: half mile radius

You create a disgusting fall of cursed rain. The rain is harmless if creepy. Falling animals have a 50% chance of survival and are harmless if not fit for consumption.
Level Effect
1-2 black putrid water
3-4 ash
5-6 steaming blood
7-8 toads
9-10 dead bats
11-12 snakes
13+ spiders

Ravenloft had a thing for making every scary spell Necromancy and this was no exception but I felt that Conjuration was more appropriate.
