Well. If Paizo doesn't do it, it'll still be a good jumping-off point for 3PP who fill in the gaps. I mean, let Paizo do the heavy lifting of figuring out how to squeeze playable undead in the game, then build on that.

And don't give this "but I only play first party stuff", while at the same time wanting far-out stuff :P

Ooh! Ooh! A skeleton with a familiar. Familiar gets Manipulate and Independent Action. set up some sort of weird contraption with pulleys and string in your ribcage for your familiar to sit in and fiddle with while you go about your day that makes it look vaguely like he's walking you around like a puppet. For bonus points, whenever anyone brings it up, pretend that you don't know what they're talking about while the familiar makes ferocious shushing motions.

Anyway, the skeleton ancestry is something I didn't know I needed. I doubt I will build a single non-comedic member of said ancestry, but damn if it isn't a gold mine. Just thinking off all the nonsense that will come with just passing as a regular person tickles my funny bone. Heh.

Divinity: Original Sin 2 really sold me on the idea of playable skeletons, and they had a lot of tonal range throughout the game (they where both great in serious sections of the game and for comedic value).

I kind of hope that there is a feat for one of the undead ancestry options where you can play dead like you do in divinity (or maybe a general feat only available to undead characters?) - it's definitely a very niche ability (I've never used it in divinity, but I think tabletop RPGs have more room to use that kind of ability) but it could make some pretty fun moments
