Wrath of the Righteous - Paladin

Advice

I am currently free of work and have little to nothing to do. One day I would like to play Wrath of the Righteous to experience Mythic rules just once.

So with no deadline in sight I thought I would see what I could do. The plan was simple, an Area Control Paladin that could enlarge, haste, and fly under their own power

Race: Angel-kin (Aasimar)

Archetypes: Sacred Servant & Oath against Savagery

Deity: Erastil
Domain: Growth

Str - 16+2
Dex - 14
Con - 14
Int - 10
Wis - 10
Cha - 14+2

Trait: Stolen Fury (Campaign)
Trait:

Feats
1 - Combat Expertise
3 - Improved Trip
5 - Angel Blood
7 - Greater Trip
9 - Angelic Flesh?
11 - Angel Wings
13 - Metallic Wings?

I am not sure if Angelic Flesh and Metallic Wings are really needed. There are other feats that look interesting such as Adept Champion

First question: 25 point build? (That's fine it just seems unusual as an assumption)

Second question: No Power Attack?

Third question: No Combat Reflexes? If you want to trip enemies I assume reach tactics. Even without that if you trip someone with an AoO you don't get another AoO from Greater Trip without Combat Reflexes.

Fourth question: Well not a question - you need 13 INT for Combat Expertise. You could take Dirty Fighting instead if you don't mind the flavour.

Fifth question: Are you sure those archetypes stack? One replaces Smite Evil and the other alters it (even if they do stack, losing Divine Grace seems pretty steep to me).

Personally I'd drop the Angelic Flesh and Metallic Wings, and I'd pick up Combat Reflexes and Power Attack in their place.

1) Yeah my standard groups rules is 25 point buy with no single stat above 18

2) I would love Power attack but that -1 carries over to CMB

3) Paladins don't have an abundance of feats, I was relying on Oath Against Savagery's Hordebreaker ability

4) Good catch, I would indeed need Dirty Fighting

5) It is a weird one but I believe it does, I actually checked a few months ago

1. Fair enough.

2. I'd still want it for dealing damage, but no pressure. If there are pther damage dealers in your party don't stress.

3. That's a nice ability but there are 2 major drawbacks.

A. You don't get it till level 11.

B. It runs off Smite. Using a Smite for 1 minute of Reach and CH-based AoOs is ... probably ok really. It's a nice option to have even if it's not always better. The problem is that your other aechetype slows your Smite progression. At level 11 you can use this twice per day. At level 13 it's 3/day, and at leve 19 it's 4/day. That's assuming you never want to actually smite anyone as well.

4. *Thumbs up*

5. It doesn't, but if your group plays it that way then it's fine (It doesn't have to say: "This ability alters Smite evil" to be an ability that alters Smite Evil. Honestly a lot of cases like this are fine, so if your GM is fine with it then don't stress). If the GM is worried about power creep, tell them I wouldn't worry, for the reasons I stated in "3.B."

Don't worry too much about Smite usages. There is a mythic power that allows you to expend your mythic points to use Smite Evil.

**Update**

Swapping Oaths; Channel Wrath syncronises really well with Sacred Servants Divine Bond. For that I get the poor mans Haste (Blessing of Fervor), and Divine Grace back

Will this character become mythic? I don’t see any mythic abilities in your build. If you are going mythic don’t forget to include those. Mythic feats require you to have the normal feat before you can take them. You can also take Titan’s Rage at tier 3 instead of enlarge person to grow.

If you have mythic power attack you can spend one mythic power to ignore the penalties to attack for 1 minute.

There is a recruitment thread for Wrath of the Righteous going now through next Tuesday in the PBP forum. It is not the same as in person, but you can at least try out your ideas while you await an in person game.

It should do as it is Wrath of the Righteous. I am still wrapping my head around when I get Mythic powers etc and how many tiers WoR gives etc

Wrath of the Righteous Pacing Spoilers:
You become mythic around level 6 (end of the first module, when you'll probably level up from 4 to 6)

You will be Mythic 10 at the end.
As a paladin, you'll probably find it to be a cakewalk for the most part (More Demons? What a shock! If only we were prepared for them...).
Also, you might want to look at Mythic Power Attack before writing it off:

Your attacks are truly devastating.

Prerequisites: Power Attack.

Benefit: When you use Power Attack, you gain a +3 bonus on melee damage rolls instead of +2. When your base attack bonus reaches +4 and every 4 points thereafter, the amount of bonus damage increases by +3 instead of +2. In addition, the bonus damage from this feat is doubled on a critical hit, before it’s multiplied by the weapon’s critical multiplier.

You can expend one use of mythic power when you activate Power Attack to ignore the penalties on melee attack rolls and combat maneuver checks for 1 minute.

Mythic Power Attack is OP as hell. My players used it to great effect to wreck demon lords in one or two hits later on in the campaign.

Ugh, flashbacks.

Fixed your post for you: It ain't just that one feat...

No s+%!, Sherlock. I've GM'ed the thing to conclusion and still have flashbacks. This question in particular however was for Mythic Power Attack.
