What Eidolon types would you like / are you looking forward to?

Summoner Class

Assuming that the current unchained-esque eidolon types aren't going anywhere (sorry Verzen), what would you guys like to see for potential types and any theoretical traditions and abilities tied to it?

I'll start; I'd like to see a Shadow eidolon (ala Johnny 13 from Danny Phantom or the PF1 Shadowdancer). Most likely Occult tradition with abilities that focus on stealth and/or staying close to it's summoner.

Tethered By Shadows 1st
While manifested and adjacent to its summoner both the eidolon and summoner receive a +1 status bonus to stealth. If the summoner uses Act Together while adjacent and both actions are to Sneak or Hide, both the summoner and eidolon use whichever result is greater.

I found out that the Unchained summoner got a kami eidolon subtype in wilderness origins and I'd love to see it come back in second edition. Could probably have some abilities based on having a ward of some sort, possibly the summoner themselves or an object they carry. But almost definitely primal or divine.

Let's see...

Plant Eidolons for Primal, no idea what it would do mechanically though.

Genie Eidolons for Arcane, for stuff like Ifrit or Shiva from Final Fantasy.

Dragons.

Liberty's Edge

An Ancestor Spirit of the Humanoid type that matches at least part of the PCs Ancestry and/or Heritage.

Every seventh generation the eldest female of a given bloodline is cursed/gifted with a physical manifestation of a heroic person from the ancient past which manifests as an Eidolon which is similar to, but distinct from, a ghost or other form of undead.

Maybe this is partly because I'd like to see ways in which PC Ancestry Feats can be applied to the Eidolon but the whole idea just strikes me as cool anyhow.

Of what's not in the playtest document...

Elementals and psychopomps would be high on my list.

Construct with towering. Two words. GIANT ROBOT!

Dark Archive

Well, based on the playtest material fluff text, it looks like they already plan these for release:

*Dragon
*Construct
*Amalgam
*Angels
*Demons
*Psychopomps
*Phantoms
*Beast
*Plant
*Fey
*Elemental

I think that is a pretty good list. However, if I were to add the ones I'd like I'd add:

*Undead (though this may not fit with what an Eidolon really is)
*Shadow
*Devil
*Aberation

I'm traditionally partial to Demons.

That said, I'm currently also a fan of my Angel, honestly, but thats heavily tied to my current character...

This would be cool, minus the gender requirements!

I definitely support Undead. I thought it would be a sure thing to play a straightforward necromancer. And if we don't get it, it should be very easy to homebrew.

I just want a demon. Preferably tied to whichever spell school goes well with playing a blaster caster. I’m out here doing my best to be an Orc Demonology Warlock casting debuffs and damage with a hulked our demon pet that goes smash. I’m wanting full Unga bunga demon. I want to be a shadowy warlock with control over shadow magic and fire and fear and corruption.

I'm really excited for elemental but my biggest worry is that they will end up with more passive then active abilities, I really am not fond of the eidolons that dont really get anything special they can actively do. (phantom has a reaction which is something, but it just encourages certain positioning, angel doesn't have any active effects until 17) Dragon is my absolute favorite of whats been revealed so far as they have 2 nice active combat abilities so there is more to do with them then buff>bonk every turn.

I really want a demon, if only because I really love the idea of being on friendly terms with a demon.

"Is it time for slaughter?"
"Not yet, precious. Soon though, I promise."

I also love the idea of a plant Synthesist whose skin hardens into wood and becomes an arboreal.

I know the name for the eidolon is Angel, but it really covers Archons and Azata as well. That's fine; angel is a decent catchall term.

But I'd rather see 'Demon' named 'Fiend', so that it covers Devils, Demons and Daemons smoothly.

The main difference here being that an archon or an azata probably wouldn't really be too concerned by being called a demon, while a devil would (rightly so) flip their excrement at the prospect of being called a demon by someone who should know better.

I have a MIGHTY need for an Aberrant Eidolon. I'd dying to do a (with more support in release) Synthesis Aberrant build. Visual image of something like Abigail or Yang Guifei from FGO and having tentacles slap the hell out of everything while the Summoner just strolls around. Occult tradition, obviously.

One ability I'd like to see is something that plays off that creeping madness theme, like, lingering madness: whenever your Eidolon strikes an enemy it takes X penalty to resisting mental effects until the start (end?) of your next turn. Something like that somewhere to set up some neat combos.

Or, you know, just Reach like the Sorc initial Aberrant focus spell. I'd take free reach for maximum slappage.

Some kind of fiend or devil Eidolon like others mentioned might be fun to roleplay out as well. Also super excited about the possibilities for a Fey Eidolon. A lot of neat things you could do that.

I think you missed Aberration for Occult due to the following line from the playtest.

I think a fey that played against type could for eidolons could be interesting. Something like Tiny size, and more baked in spell casting abilities.

- Fungus, or fungus-infested. I'm not expecting it right away, but give us something based around cool spore effects eventually.
- Aberration.
- Shapeshifter.

I'm here for the constructs. Not inevitables like we had in 1E... straight up animated armor construct.

I'm looking forward to my star platinum eidolon

I knew I wasn't the only one who thought of that. I'm honestly surprised at the lack of references so far.

It's the only way, narratively speaking I can enjoy the shared HP.

Just gonna repeat what most people already said: Demon

lmao i loved playing a Demon Synthesist in 1e.

Besides Demon, i'd like to see:

Undead-For the skeleton or Zombie flavor

Ancestor-For that direct JoJo flavor

Aberration-For the alien/extraterrestrial flavor

Well, if they're putting in constructs, then I want an Ooze Eidolon.

Possibly because I just ran a magus through the Slithering...

Oumph. Called out! =P

All's y'all's said most of the ones I'd like to see already, so, in the spirit of trying to think up something new,

I'd like a verminous eidolon. I know this is arguably falls into the beast camp, but something with a more creepy crawly skiill set would be great.

I'd also like to see Aeon and Protean eidolons as well, possibly not tied to the divine tradition. There are so many outsider types that make good eidolons that summoner is at risk of becoming a default divine caster unless there is some tradition-switching.
I figure occult for an Aeon and primal for a Protean would fit well.

Ohh, a vermin eidolon would be great. Allows for and insectile and pest animal based eidolons. Probably lower Int, raise Cha for intimidate, or give them a con boost and a con based attack rider. A limited use disease effect or poison?

Oh, right, almost forgot!

On the list of impossible stuff, I'd love a swarm eidolon. Gimme a murder of crows, a mischief of rats, or a writhing mass of centipedes.

You forgot swarm of nano-bots or alien hive minds.

Making this a base eidolon type is almost too limited relative to using another base type...

I also love the concept.

A swarm of butterflies, will-o-wisps or fairies.

And that leads right into a troop as an Eidolon, heh.

I do believe there is a classic science fiction computer rpg that I have not played but heard of, where one of the party members was a tiny planet with a full population of exceptionally tiny people.

Now that you mention it, I'm thinking of Lady Lejean (aka Unity) from Thief of Time by Pratchett. A troop of phantoms I suppose, but close enough!

I mean, if it were my player I'd be pretty open to them describing their Eidolon as a swarm of whatever in the shape of whatever.
