A list of some other magus tricks that would be nice:
A "flurry" of weapon attacks with a spell cast on the magus. The spell should trigger at the end of the flurry and could be limited to buff spells or spells that don't directly effect other creatures.
Dimensional strikes - advanced Slide where the magus teleports strikes and teleports back to the original position or opens a small portal to allow a weapon strike at Close range
What other tricks can you see?

I could also see variants that specialize in specific schools of magic or have access to different spell traditions.
Low level utility spells that make you feel like a magical character outside of combat
What would that look like to you?
One of the things i’ve always wanted was a ranged character that could teleport around the battlefield. With slide and shooting as separate syntheses, that’s seeming unlikely here tho.
That would be awesome. If the syntheses had different levels, like an entry level ability which improved over time--greater effects with further feat progression perhaps--and the ability to get the entry level ability of a second synthesis as a choice instead of a stronger version of the base synthesis, that would provide choice and greater diversity.

Ideally, it would be access to low level spell slots at least on par with a multiclassed caster.
I'd take *any* low level slots, however.

How about a 6th level feat that lets you turn your weapon into a staff Staff Nexus style. When you level up or spend some time retraining you can choose one spell of each level that you used to have spell slots for and put it permanently into your weapon. You can then invest the weapon and cast spells from it just as though it was a staff. If the weapon is lost, destroyed, or you want to replace it you can create a new spell weapon with a week of downtime (same as replacing a familiar).

I was thinking back to the Tome of Battle, some of the schools that the sword sages used would flow neatly into magus tricks. Running and leaving flames in your wake, coating your weapon in fire, summoning shadowy tentacles to entangle those beside you. Having things like that, even if they are archetypes that lean into the niche. This could also create the design space for an occult magus, an elemental/primal one, etc.
It doesn't look like we will get an arcana pool like the 1E magus had. If the lower level spell slots could instead be converted into tricks--when the magus out grows the 1st level slots, they instead get to trigger Fleet Step twice per day. A spell that targets the magus only, once it is chosen, it cannot be changed. The spells could also be linked to the magus' synthesis, to show whether they are the fast moving, stalwart and steady, or distant and aloof type.
This would provide magical tricks--incorporating sword and sorcery throughout, without increasing spellslots for balance against the rest of the class.

It might be closer to a Black Blade deal, but I'd love to see progressive feats in a chain (like a Focus Stance) to enhance the weapon with unique abilities. Now that I thunk about it more, maybe I want the Magus Developers to be locked in a room with the Rage rules, the Focus Stance rules, and a season of Bleach until they get something fun.

Shikai (Lvl 8)
>>You alter your weapon's shape to be that of your soul's true blade.
It increases to one size category larger without making you clumsy and gains either reach, fatal (one dice above its base damage) or sweep.
Bankai (lvl 16)
>>>
Prerequisite: your weapon is in Shikai.
You become the protagonist for that session, you are awesome and do cool stuff. Enjoy, you won't be able to do it again for 1d6 sessions.

I was thinking less copyright infringing. I'd want something that fundamentally changes how the weapon works. Maybe something like (but, subject to balancing):
Black Blade Wielder Archetype (lvl 2)
You gain a sentient Black Blade. Choose a 1 handed weapon you have access to, the blade becomes a copy of that. The Blade cannot have Runes inscribed on it. It follows Automatic Bonus Progression for potency and Striking runes. The blade may speak with you telepathically to a range of 20'. Each Feat from this archetype increase the range 20'. The blade is not very talkative at first, but becomes chattier and shows a stronger personality the more feats you take from this archetype.
Black Blade Manifestation [single action]{1 Focus}(lvl 4)
You give your Black Blade some control over its form. Choose one of the following properties for it to gain - Reach, Trip/Shove/Grapple, Sweep, Backstabber. Gain one of the Versatile (P, B, S) Traits. Increase damage by 2 per die. This choice cannot be changed without retraining.
Improved Black Blade Manifestation (lvl 10)
Your Blade shows greater force of personality with its form. You summon the blade to your hand when you Manifest it. When you manifest your Blade choose one of the following effects (this effect cannot be changed):
-Increase your reach to 15 ft. Your weapon gains the Agile trait.
-Increase your weapon die to d12. Gain the Forceful trait. You can only make normal Strikes with this weapon.
-Gain the Two Handed (d12) trait. Gain 10 ft. Reach.
True Black Blade Manifestation [two action](lvl 16)
Trigger: You have Manifested your Black Blade.
Choose one of the following effects. You gain this in addition to the other traits chosen from Black Blade Feats. Your connection with your Blade is so intimate you may not use other weapons when it is within 100' of you, lest it get jealous and refuse you.
- Increase your reach by another 15 feet. You may count as being in any square within your reach for the purposes of flanking and cover. You may take the Whirlwind Strike Feat.
- Increase your damage by 4 per die. You count as having hit any enemy once on your turn for the purpose of the Forceful trait. Decrease your MAP by 1 on Strikes affected by MAP. You may only make Strike actions as offensive actions.
- your Blade deals (choose element) damage instead of physical damage. Your Blade ignores Raised Shields and Cover. You may take the Whirlwind Strike Feat.

I’d like Black Blade to come back as a level 4 class feat where you lock out a focus pool point to manifest your weapon at the start of the day at the same value as Potency.
Let it grab a single familiar ability and scale like Potency. Maybe getting an additional familiar ability when it gains the higher potency bonuses.

you can multiclass for that.

Bleach-Mode: Where you can convert your Wounded Condition into leveling up your character mid-battle. At the end of combat you collapse. Keep said levels until the story arc ends, then recalculate your level as usual.
Note that key villains can do likewise. :P
Anime/Exalted craziness aside, there's something to be said about Bleach characters being like Magi. They lack breadth of utility, yet most of their martial attacks are magically enhanced and many of their magical attacks have martial flavor.
It'd be cool if a Magus seldom had to make a non-magically boosted Strike (even if in a minor way).
Fly, teleport, swift movement, concealment, multi-attacks, pushing/pulling/tripping, energy shields/damage auras, and more could be tied into Magus Strikes (via feats) for one round effects that maintain a magical flavor w/o throwing numbers off.
(I suppose this may be intruding into the Kineticist's space too much?)

I think we are getting into Kineticist (amd Black Blade) territory here.

What about weapon attacks with area of effects? There were spells that let you throw a weapon and strike a line of targets. Various video games have "blade" attacks or the like. A 30' line or 15' cone where the magus makes a single attack against all targets in the area or maybe they get a basic save against the damage.

When spellstriking use the proficiency modifiers of the weapon and add the item bonus to wit from its runes for the spell attack.
Yeah, I'm a bit surprised Paizo hasn't given the Magus the weapon's item bonus w/ spell attack rolls which use that weapon. This would give the Magus a distinct niche compared to other casters, though that may require shifting at what levels spell proficiency increases to keep the advantage between +0 to +2.
Or perhaps let them take advantage of combat positioning (ex. flanking) more easily. (Though not both unless proficiency gets decreased, which I wouldn't mind if the weapon-spell numbers balanced in favor of a Magus.)

The Magus is ultimately 3 points of bonus behind a caster who has maxxed their casting stat (20 stat and master vs 22 stat and legendary).
Giving them item bonus to spell proficiency on striking spell is ultimately a wash but within individual levels numbers may fluctuate.

Does your black blade ends up with like 30ft reach by the end here ? xD
Having a two-action Lunge-like feat which reached 30' (or even 15') would be really cool, whether via telekinesis, stretchiness, or striking through a dimensional hole.
Or three-action with some other perks, like pulling them back to you, knocking them prone (mostly to get flyers), bonus damage, a condition, or even greater reach. So many options.I could even see "Dimensional Blade" as an archetype if there were enough of these.
