Here is the discussion thread.

Alright, now we need to do some work bringing you guys together. Xylor I need to see an alias from you. I'd like to get it to where you guys share at least one ally. You can either use one of the NPCs one of you already made or I can come up with one. Xylor if you can think of a reason to be in Freedomtown, great. If not, I will give you some in-character motivation. Arnrich, I'm thinking that Richard Ashcrom has helped you finance a school/temple in Freedomtown. Is that acceptable?

Present and accounted for.

:D

Possibilities for allies in common...

1. Rumax- I think he fits the type of personality that Nirmathas caters to/is filled with.

*****
Nirmathas

The inhabitants of Nirmathas are primarily human, though they tend to judge a creature on its actions rather than its race. The people of Nirmathas are renowned for their love of individual freedom and hatred of bureaucratic meddling and repression, putting them at odds with the two nations that have previously conquered them (see the History section above). The people are generally independent and self-reliant, even within the cities, where such traits are less necessary. This independent attitude does have its drawbacks: Nirmathas effectively functions without a higher government, with each town and village running it own affairs.
*****
Rumax is a half-orc longhunter, a hunter who will typically head into the wild for weeks or months at a time while collecting skins and furs. He befriended Arnrich, who made him a longrifle, and they occasionally pass time together. Note: Game mechanics-wise he is a ranger with both the trapper and trophy-hunter archetypes. He is of the Chaotic Good alignment.
*****
I believe his mentality would approach that described for Nirmathas and could bring him into contact with Xylor's associates. Also, the trapping would be in common with Irissa.

2. Irissa is a monk and they often learn through master-student relationships. With Arnrich's emphasis on education, he is a teacher (he actually has skill points in profession teacher) as well as a gunsmith and tool maker and was apprenticed to an alchemist, he holds master-apprentice relationships in high regard. As such, he would also be familiar with and hold in high regard the master-student relationships often forged by monks.

...Just a couple thoughts there.

I'll alias up this afternoon. Looking forward to it!

Sorry, I missed the bold-face part earlier.

It works well for me.

How about this: there have been communications between Lastwall border towns and those of Nirmathas; while Lastwall is an ally of Mothune, that common border with Belkzen is meaningful. As Yanira and the rest of Kellreach rest and rejoice warily at fending off the attack of The Darkening Wound tribe, they hear of attacks near Vigil as well and of more uneasy tidings within Belkzen.

Xylor and Irissa travel to Vigil as speedily and secretively as they can. When they arrive, it is a town bristling with martial activity. They find Kasugach, the orc shamaness, being asked to return to Belkzen, peacefully but firmly, by town authorities. As she departs with her retinue, she tells Xylor and Irissa, "You are wood, and earth, and water. Seek the one of air, and fire, in the town of men."

Works for me to get Arnrich and Xylor together.

That would work for me, though I wasn't really planning on having you guys have NPCs travel with you. So once you get to Freedomtown might have to leave Irissa at the school.

Sure, Xylor can leave his various elemental ladies behind and strike off into Belkzen-land...he can handle himself.

Hey Arnrich, I didn't see any gigantic overlap on your sheet compared to Xylor's, save for the fact that we both have a goodly amount of healing spells..which isn't so bad. Take a look at Xylor and let me know if you have any advice. I haven't outfitted a character at 7th level before, so I might be missing something. (I am missing some basic supplies.)

I'm working on this game guys. Thanks for your patience. I have a lot on my plate at the moment, but I promise it will get going soon.

@ DM Jelani
No problem. I still have 1500 gp and might want to buy a cloak of resistance +1 and/or some more "consumables" such as potions.

@ Xylor
Looks OK. In no particular order...

Spoiler:

I don't see a ranged weapon, although I guess the spear could be a one use one or you could rely upon spells.
Also, the hero lab description of "wooden weapon" appears slightly cut-off. So does "wood bond". It doesn't matter to me but I was just looking at it and adding up bonuses. If it works for you, no big deal.
Perhaps some of the basics such as rope for purchase? I didn't think buy any for Arnrich but he can fly. Perhaps some other general gear (backpack, etc.), but you seem to already know that.
Although I don't know how much cash you have left, perhaps some "consumables"? It is always good to have a potion of cure light wounds on yourself (50 gp) for someone else to use on you in an emergency.
Perhaps a weapon blanche (silver, adamantine, etc. or something else as there are a few optionslink) that can be put on in advance or a silver dagger in case we encounter lycanthropes.
Just throwing a couple things out there since you asked. But, it looks OK to me for 7th level. The wood bond works real well for giving Xylor a good to hit bonus.

I'm working on stuff for this now. I hope to have a gameplay post up before I go to sleep tonight.

Arnrich will take the cloak and be done then.

Okay, Arnrich can we replace "Meirin is a half-orc priestess of Sarenrae who has taken to heart Arnrich's teachings about the goddess. Generally nice. Note: Game mechanics-wise, she would be a cleric of the separatist archetype and worships Sarenrae. She is of the Neutral Good alignment. " with "Kasugach - A venerable Orc shamaness who wanders far and wide; most tribes of Belkzen fear and respect her. She keeps an eye on The Hidden Three through divination." as an ally?

Thanks, Arnrich; I'll make some changes soon!

I'm gonna put up my intro post now. It could probably be better, but in the interests of getting things rolling I'll put it up anyway. I'll be coming up with more stuff about Freedom Town over the next couple days, so for now we'll take it slow. Tomorrow is gonna be a killer for me work wise, so I doubt I'll have much time then.

Certainly.

Xylor's a bit more geared up. It's going to be funny if he has to pull things out of his backpack during combat, though, thanks to those pesky dryad ghosts.

Guys, I hate to do this, but my real life game group has unexpectedly restarted and I'm finding myself over committed game wise. Since this is my PBP that's the least far along I'm going to have to cancel the game. I know you guys put a lot of work into this, and I truly apologize. I hope you can understand, and I hope that we get to play together in another game here someday. Thanks so much for giving me the chance, again sorry that it's not gonna work out. :(

No problem. Thanks anyway. :)
