Wave Tengu Spirit Guide

Advice

Please pardon my late night ramblings

Ever since participating in this thread, I have had this idea brewing for a melee Waves Spirit Guide Oracle, that I have not been able to get out of my head (We have all been there don't deny it). While this build is most likely going to end up in the folder of other still to be played characters, I hope by discussing the concept I maybe able to shake this bug.

The Build is a very defensive orientated focusing on Water Sight (The Waves Mystery Revelation) and Obscuring Mist to have concealment from level one, to then deliver Hexes through Hex Strike between levels 5 & 10. To finally combo off Wintry Touch from the Oracle Mystery, and Beckoning Chill of the Shaman Spirit. This is of course on top of the standard Cleric/Oracle buffs like Divine Favor etc

*Now there is some debate over whether Spirit Guide qualifies for the Hex Strike feat. I have discussed this with my regular DM, and they are fine with it.

Race: Tengu with Claws and Bite
Traits: Undecided

Feats:
1 (Level) - Weapon Focus (Claws)
3 (Level) - Power Attack
5 (Level) - Feral Combat Training
7 (Level) - Hex Strike
9 (Level) - Quicken Spell
11 (Level) - Revelation Strike

Revelations:
1 - Water Sight
11 - Wintry Touch

Now as this is a conceptual build, lets just say 25 point buy for completion sake

What do you think?

Is the 2nd combo (Wintry Touch + Beckoning Chill) worth it?

It is an interesting idea. Both the Waves revelation and spirit have a lot of good stuff in them.

One point- why Tengu? Changeling is a better race game mechanically as you can get natural attacks and a +2 charisma, which is what you want as an oracle.

Given the amount you have to pay in feats etc to get it and how late it shows up clearly not.

Compare it to a Shaman who spends their 1st 2 feats on weapon focus claws and hex strike and 1st hex on witch hex = slumber. You can hex strike with slumber, or just slumber, and coup de grace them next round. True they get a save, but it costs less, is better and shows up at level 3 not 11.

This does not mean the idea is useless, but the 2nd combo is meh. The icy spells revelation is much more attractive in my eyes. And a lot of the waves revelations are good.

For a couple of reasons.

1.Tengu get 3 Primary Natural Attacks

2. Their Claws come with Improved Unarmed Strike to save a feat

Hex strike and revelation strike each require a swift action. As a combo you need to be attacking the same enemy for 2 rounds to pull it off, and for the debuff to matter the enemy needs to be standing after that. It's way inferior to the rime frostbite magus. Also you're getting quicken spell for maximum swift action congestion.

Short of house rules allowing more swift actions (e.g. PF unchained action system) I wouldn't do this.

You don't need to Revelation strike Wintry Touch to work

As a standard action, you can perform a melee touch attack that deals 1d6 points of cold damage + 1 point for every two oracle levels you possess. You can use the wintry touch ability a number of times per day equal to 3 + your Charisma modifier. At 11th level, any weapon that you wield is treated as a frost weapon.

It is the Frost Natural Attacks that I'm interested in. After the Beckoning Chill Hex is applied, you up your damage with Revelation Strike. That is the idea anyway
