Ah. That's a shame for those of us who play at tables and online. In practice, this means I won't have any aid characters to bring to the special.

I know how to use Google Docs for maps, quick-reference text boxes (e.g. Init/Perception), and so on. I'll set that up as soon as I get the scenario. The PFS reporting is new to me, though.

Is it correct that for Outpost, I do not need to Create an Event in the "My Organized Play" section? I'll just create a campaign thread by using "Add New Thread" on "Online Campaigns/Play-by-Post", and then report the game through the Outpost reporting link?

Correct.

You have it correct. Once reported through the Outpost reporting link the online VO team will take that information and report it to the Paizo event. This way we can track tables and boons to send out as well.

How will aid characters be interacted with during the special? I understand that the primary character is of course tied up with this mission during the length of the scenario, and thus cannot be used in any other pfs tables during that time (standard PbP pfs stuff), but are characters assigned to an aid role also subject to this restriction?

As there is a higher than normal risk of death for each of your characters during this Special I would consider them locked out of other games for the time frame of the Special.

Even with the potential of death it is a very fun scenario! I highly recommend it and bringing aid characters,

If I need to use them in other games during that long PbP window, then it doesn't matter how much fun the aid character play may be, because I can't participate in it.

If we're not running one of the Specials, and everyone at the "table" is ready, may we begin early?

Unfortunately not. To receive credit for the Con you must start after March 30 and have your game reported in by May 18, 2020.

Out of curiosity, Gameday was 9-10 weeks long and Outpost is 7 - is that intentional?

Dark Archive 4/5 5/55/5 ****

Gameday is our far bigger online convention. The reason this one is 7 weeks long as we did not want to overlap with PlayDis Con 2020, allowing a short reprieve for folks to go over new scenarios. That and Outpost needs to be done before Paizocon as quite a few folks from the online community attend there. This gives the VO team enough time to finish reporting games and sending out chronicles.

Two tables for "The Protectorate Petition" and I'm the only one signed up?

Did everyone already run/played this one when it came out? Os is it the least popular low-level tier scenario for some other reason?

It's lovely, but it's also been around for a while now.

If you don't mind someone who's GM'd it 3 times but has never gotten the chance to play it, I'm your huckleberry :)

Crossposting!

Attention Outpost III Players.

We’ve had signups open for a week now and while a lot of tables have enough players to fire, we still have many openings including a number of tables that really need more players.

As such, starting now, we are raising the signup cap to 5 tables per player. You may also sign up for both the Pathfinder and Starfinder specials (these special count against your max table limit).

As always, sign up for more games only if you know you can handle posting regularly to all of them. This goes doubly for the specials. Please only sign up for both if you can be certain to post every day to both.

As a reminder for newer players, a character can only be played in one game at a time and you may only have a single character at a given table.

Thanks and happy gaming,
Mike Hallet

How do you sign up for these games? Totally new to PFS.

5/5 5/55/5 ***

The player signups sheet can be found HERE. You're going to be interested in the games colored [yellow].

I see you haven't registered for a Society # through your Paizo account, yet, and you don't have any characters. If you need any help with that, let us know!

I have always wanted to do a PbP, but have 0 clue as to what I need to do get setup to play.

I have all of my characters registered to my account, but really only have the names filled in. Is there somewhere that can walk me through what I need to do to participate, or should I just sign up and sync up with the GM?

Give this document a look over. Sign up on one of the games on the signup sheet posted above and PM the GM associated with the game to link up.

If you have further questions let us know and we can help walk you through the process. After a couple days of posts you will be an expert. :)

I cannot find or reach my players? Now what? Like Starfinder Casper for instance, he has no number and I can't find him in the search results under users. 勝20100 don't exist in users either.

Let me take a look and see if I can locate them.

For those of us who created threads after people signed up om the spreadsheet, how should we let them know the threads are up? Post in Recruitment, post in Flaxseed, PM them, or just wait?

Can people begin introducing themselves in the Gameplay thread, or is that off-limits until the convention formally starts?

You can certainly send PM's or post your link with their names in the recruitment thread for the individuals to report to their games.

You can roleplay and introduce to your heart's content just no actual printed scenario material until the start date.

Crap, I already did post background stuff. Any recourse?

    3/5

^Just throw the brakes on things and don't proceed any further than the mission briefing (which is where I assume you're at) until the official start date. This happens sometimes, especially when we have folks who are new to GMing PbP and/or our online conventions. Just remember it for next time :)

It's okay! And looking back I realize that we never specified that outright in our initial post/FAQ so that's something for us to remember to do in the future.

Question: I am reaching out to see if some people I know might be interested in joining, due to the circumstances. However, my Starfinder character with SS-LE reputation isn't one that I'm playing this go-round. Can I still claim the faction bonus for introducing new players on a character that isn't actively at one of the tables?

Haven't signed up on any of this because there's been no time to play another game, and it doesn't look like the time will be freeing up any time soon since I work in retail given the current situation worldwise.

I've currently got a table with 3 sign ups (line 89 on the sheet). Based on a lack of any further people signing up after advertising the table, I'm thinking its probably going to stay that way. For in-person play I'd normally throw in a pregen and run with the 4-player adjustments.

Is this also fine for Outpost?

Yes, we use standard Organized Play rules, though hopefully, someone will sign up last moment. If not, perhaps one of the other players is willing to run a pregen for the party.

For one reason or another, I was under the impression that the GMs were not supposed to make their players roll for boons - that the convention organizers would roll, and that they would send the boons out.

I can't find where I was told that. I distinctly remember a question about whether a statistically appropriate number of people had received boons in the past, and someone posting statistics, like "X of Y people had received boons, and Z percent of E-mail addresses bounced, and X+Z is about 10% of Y."

In any case, I have already reported a game that listed nobody receiving boons.

I was just asked as a player to roll for boons. Now, I'm confused.

    1. Should I have asked my players to roll for boons?

    2. If I was supposed to, then how do I revise the reporting form?

Edit: Never mind the second question, I made conditional rolls and nobody got 'em, so my reporting is correct either way. It still would be nice to know what I should have done, though, because I have a second game that hasn't finished yet.

    2/5 5/5 **

OSP games are rolled by VOs per the OSP website.

However, PbP Cons aren’t OSP and there’s way more tables so they have players roll (or we roll for them) and report their email addresses.

    2/5 **

I'm double checking to make sure I don't roll for PFS 2e boons. Looks like there are no boon rewards listed for Outpost 3 in PFS2.

    3/5

1 person marked this as a favorite.

Correct - there are no boons for PFS2 as everyone earns AcP (Achievement Points) for playing and for GMing.

Yes, GMs are meant to have the players roll, however, I rolled for your table. I apologise for not contacting you to let you know.

No problem, hope your dice were better than mine.

I'll ask my players to roll themselves at my second table so everything should be square.

And, does the GM roll for a boon too?

    Quote:
And, does the GM roll for a boon too?

    Indeed!

EDIT: GM rolls for their own "table boon." You automatically get your convention race boon.

    ***

Does someone email the convention race boon, or do we have to download it from somewhere?

    What is the race?

    3/5

It'll be emailed to you by one of the Online VOs! We usually tend to report and send out GM & player boons in batches so you might get your email pretty quick after reporting your game or it might be a few days.

The PFS1 GM boon this time around is Triaxian/Lashunta/Android and the SFS GM boon is Dragonkin/Aasimar/Tiefling. If you're only GMing for one system then that's the GM boon you receive but if you're GMing PFS1 and SFS you select which GM boon you wish to receive.

Speaking of Boons here it looks like the attachment/text of the Player Boons was not included in the email sent to one of the lucky winners, namely myself.

GM Tyranius, could you please resend it to me?

Are you sure you've got those right?

    3/5

That's the information that went out in the email to the GMs prior to the convention start date. If something changed between then and now, I'm not aware of it.

I just came here to confirm that I unlocked SFS races for GMing a PFS game.

I mean, in the end, I'm probably not going to use a dragonkin/aasimar/thiefling boon anyway, but it did seem above baseline unusual.
