Release dates and future Adventure Paths

Pathfinder Adventure Card Game General Discussion

Hey there,

I was wondering when Core and Curse were released.

I was also wondering if there are any clues on when the next Adventure Path will be released. And which setting it might be?

They were released at the end of May (2019). Whether or not we get more Card Game depends on how well Core and Curse sell.

Nothing has been announced yet that I know of. During the Gen Con panel it was said that with the Core set they just took their old model and completely changed it. Rather than have smaller releases through a period of time we got it all at once. So nothing was announced yet, but they didn't say it wouldn't happen either.

Personally I'm pretty hopeful because the Core set has been a blast and I think there is a ton of potential for the new model (using Core set which effectively lowers the cost of us getting future AP's)

Okay so nothing official yet.
But I think it's save to say that there will be more. After all, what would be the point of a Core Set if there were no expansions? (Or only one, for that matter).
As for the selling point...if we just go by quality, this should sell better than the older versions. The rules are much more refined and the cards look better (imo).

I am, sadly, starting to get the tingles that the game is effectively dead. It has been the greater part of a year without hearing anything about the future of the game past, "We are listening to the fans and thinking about it."

By now we should have heard something but we have not (Unless I missed something...)

I'd love to hear them at state, at the very least, that more is coming. No date need be given.

Well, here's to hoping...

I'd also appreciate some news about future sets, but I think that the PACG Core has only been out for around 6 months.

While we haven't heard of any news or updatse about future sets...Have you seen Vic's commitment to rules/FAQs? He's been doing a stellar job, and I am very confused how someone could consider the game "effectively dead" when we are getting such rapid rules arbitration. I mean just look at Paizo/Loneshark involvement in this recent Rules discussion thread.

I too look forward to some news/updates, and in the meantime major thanks to Vic and Loneshark for the continued support!

No, I have not looked in the rules forum. I am glad to hear the Devs are keeping up with player questions.

"The Core Set, a Pathfinder Adventure Card Game base set and adventure path based on The Dragon's Demand, was released on May 29, 2019." My assertion that the game has now been out for the greater part of a year still stands. (If just bareilly!!)

I think my point is valid. A total lack of communication on what, if anything at all, is coming next is a disconcerting for a game like PFACG. After six months I think it is fair to suggest the devs should have said.... something... If for no other reason than to keep the fans of the game interested and let new players know the game is alive and growing.

I really like PFACG! There will be few sadder than I, outside people who earn their livelihood on the game, that what we have now is all there is realistically ever going to be. Please understand that all I want is to know more is coming or not. Should I be getting excited for the future or should I be thanking the devs for all their hard work and move on to the next shiny thing thing?

Thanks for making such a great game. Now let me know what I have to look forward to!!

I'm not one to post much, actually I've only ever posted once or twice before I post what I'm about to say. However, after reviewing this particular thread, something struck a chord with me. Not that I'm worried about the game dying, because as long as we have a community of devoted players I don't think it can stop. Especially with the ability to create our own content with the new Core Set.

Now that's what I wanted to talk about and hopefully get other's opinions on the matter. Would expanding the Core Set make sense for future games? Instead of a new AP, which would be amazing, creating a set of card to flush out the rest of the core past the scenario 3 cards. Not sure if anyone else’s has brought this up before, but it has been eating at my mind for some time now as a way to create more diversity in cards and allow thematic progression of characters from core who might not see as many weapons, spells, or items in specific AP sets. Just my two cents, what are your thoughts?

One consequence of releasing two sets with 50+ scenarios and an OP adventure path on the same day is that it puts a long delay between that and the next time we're able to talk about future plans. We asked Paizo for a break after Core/Curse to evaluate what we are seeing in the player base and they were kind enough to grant it. When we have more to say about our future plans, you'll see it here first.

Awfully quiet here. Anything on the horizon? Beyond the horizon?

Nothing has been announced yet. We might see an announcement during PaizoCon later this month however.

I'm crossing my fingers for an announcement at gencon but it might be wishful thinking.

If memory serves, I think there was a 2-3 year gap between Mummy's Mask and Core/Curse so there is precedent in thinking that even if we don't get a new set every year, the game isn't dead. ;)

There were class decks and ultimate decks released in-between, so there was stuff to look forward to.

For the new Core set on the other hand... nothing. :(

Right, the delay was because retailers were pushing back that they had no room on the shelves for another Big Box and the associated stuff, cause the old stuff wasn't selling. So, Paizo stepped back on the release schedule. I do not know if they chose to totally redo the game at that time to 'match' PF2 or if they were already working on another 'old' version AP like the first 4 sets.

But yeah, I would imagine if they were going to release more we'd know by now. I think the fact that instead of reprinting/making new character decks we got the 'adventure packs' solution says a lot, at least to me.

Personally, I always thought the whole line was on a bit too aggressive of a release schedule, both card game and RPG. But they are a publisher and have to release new stuff. I have been focusing on the Organized aspect of the card game, so I haven't played the actual 'story' in Mummy or New Core & CotCT yet, so I have plenty of material yet to go through (just like PF1, I own almost all of it, so I and my group are good for gaming in that system will we literally retire). But, I will probably dig into the original box game stories soon since Covid has destroyed a lot of in person playing opportunities.

And to be honest, while I have gamed more during covid online than I have played in person the past year or two, I think I am getting a bit burned out with Pixels and Webcams. I really want to sit down at a table and Shuffle Real Cards again!

I would like to see more Card Game products coming though! I bet the next one we get will be one of the new PF2 APs though. I'm not on the PF2 train yet as I already mentioned, so that doesn't excite me as much as it should, I suppose. But more game would be good, and paizo does tell good stories!

Well, for all we know, Paizo may have been planning to announce something for PACG this summer, but decided to hold off due to the current world/economic situation. They might feel that what would have been profitable 6 months ago wouldn't be now. So, for all we know maybe it is only delayed. They are still supporting organized play and announced a new season for that. So don't lose hope.

So it has now been another 9 months. ANYTHING??

The recent blog announced that the society component of the game is over, with a finale special/open at Paizocon next month.

The card game itself has had no such official announcement, though it is through general understanding that it is similarly over.

There remains an active pbp and tts playing groups at the forum and the Discord, the later of which has some folks investigating some shared user-created content.

About a month ago, yes. It's dead. Final special at PaizoCon.
