When your July subscription items are shipped to you, the PDF added to the account will be a placeholder which will say:

The PDF edition of this product will be available for download starting August 1, 2019!

Due to the launch of Pathfinder Second Edition, the PDFs for our July 2019 New Releases will be available for download on Thursday, August 1, 2019.

We will update this file on paizo.com at that time, and if your account’s privacy settings allow us to send “Digital Content Updates,” you will receive an email when the file is ready for access on your account.

For more information on why this is occurring, join us in the July 2019 Gen Con New Releases & Subscription forum thread on paizo.com.

Our regular process of granting subscribers access to download their complimentary PDF when their corresponding subscription item ships will resume with the following month’s new releases.

Questions? Email customer.service@paizo.com.

On Thursday, August 1, the files will be updated

Hey, Customer Service / Tech Team!

Just to let you know, these placeholder PDFs are not in place, leading to confusion on the part of people who haven't read this thread and aren't seeing PDFs in their account.

Joana, have you scanned all the way to the bottom of your Digital Content page? That is where I found PDFs waiting to be activated.

I did find that when I went looking, but I had already read this thread and knew that the PDFs are being held until street date so I wasn't concerned about it. I'm just letting them know that the placeholder PDF explaining the situation to those who don't frequent the boards, which they said would be there in the OP, isn't there.

You would, since water is not wet.

But mostly because you're being ridiculously pedantic.

Vic Wertz wrote:
To be clear, if we were to deal with this on a permanent basis, the only workable solution would be that everyone gets access to the PDFs on the release date every time—no sooner. (We did float this option years ago when we first started doing subscriptions, and it was NOT well received.)

Have you noticed Paizo acting that way, perchance?

Have I talked about Paizo in my last post or about what Ed said, prithee?

I did not say that. I will say I haven't seen a better way to handle subscriptions than what Paizo is currently doing in this thread. Not yet, anyway.
Well, I am making an argument that they could do even better for their loyal customers in the future with not too much effort.

Emphasis mine.

Not trying to pile on, but I often hear this type of statement.

Suggesting things that you like to see as a customer, great, awesome, but assuming these things are simply easy to do, or could be done without too much effort is whole other ball of wax. Just want to acknowledge that. Carry on.

Sure, but through a few years in customer service for a company which also handled large masses of client data, I can say with at least a bit of authority that this isn't an unsurmountable goal and, depending on how flexible their data processing software for charging clients is, an actually very doable one.

The big question is, does it matter? I get that people get excited when something new is coming out, but the difference between getting the PDFs at the start of shipping or towards the end is just a few days. That's a trivial amount of time.

There will always be people who get something you want, or see a film you want to see, etc., before you get it. It's the nature of the world, and it's not going to have a negative impact on you.

Subscribers already get the PDFs before the street date, the number of days prior to release is a bonus. The nature of the Paizo books means they're not that time sensitive: getting access to new character options, etc, a few days early is very unlikely to affect your game. Even for things like adventures, that you might be keen to run ASAP, if you don't plan to start it until the street date of the books, then nobody will be disappointed.

I'm just laying out another perk they could add to their loyal customer retention program, which at least among loyal long-term suscribers could lessen the inequality of the monthly shipping lottery. If they decide that this could matter enough to take up this suggestion (and that is all it is, a suggestion) is of course absolutely their decision.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

It all boils down to basically you view everyone waiting till the release date every time to get their pdf as a new "perk" were as those of us who like the way it is see that as anything but a perk. The choice before us is most people get it slightly early every month or all of us wait...

Given that, again these are not time sensitive documents and that I find that the slight spoilers on these threads from those who do get them early builds excitement for me and others. I just dont see how that is in anyway a perk but as with any subject its all relative to your own opinions.

Also, many people do consider a lottery or random choice completely fair. Everyone has an equal chance to be chosen. I find magnuskn's suggestions less fair than the current system for usual months; I also find the change this month to making everyone wait less fair, because they already have my money.

Actually my suggestion would make things more definitely fair, since it would equalize PDF receival for a large number of people (i.e. long-time suscribers of two or more years) to the first day of release, while changing absolutely nothing for the worse for the rest. And it would create a new incentive to stay suscribed.

Preference is the opposite of fairness.

As I already said, nothing changes for people who are suscribed less than two years to a line.

Yeah, I guess we'll have to end this on this disagreement. Topic's pretty done, anyway.

Just a point of feedback: The PDF delay would have been nice to have been received via email. I know that the main post states that an email would be sent, but I never received any communication (I did check the spam box) and had to look for answers once I discovered that my subscription PDFs weren't available post-shipping as usual.

@Peevenator: They sent out an Email about this. I received it on June 25th, though it was titled "Opt in now for Gen Con 2019 Subscription Pick Up".

Pathfinder Roleplaying Game Superscriber; Starfinder Superscriber

I really wish we could have got the PDF at least a little bit sooner - I have a game scheduled for early afternoon at Gen Con and wont have time to build a character or give the rules a read through. I understand what they were saying about why they wanted to hold them back, but now seeing other non-gen con pickup subscribers getting their books so early hurts a little bit.

My books arrived today! Probably the fastest my shipment has made it to NZ since I started my subscription.
Our receptionist at work said he'd never seen anyone so happy to collect a parcel. Now the struggle to continue working, rather than reading the Bestiary, begins...

And as of right now my packages are in Fife, WA - pretty far from Windsor, CT.

Perhaps I should ragequit the board or something :)

I think Golarion needs a gloomy demiplane where time and space have no meaning named Fife.

Mine (CRB, Bestiary, Plaguestone) left Fife on 20 July, Windsor CT on 25 July, Home town Post Office 26 July (late), Delivered 27 July.

Don't lose hope!

I am Pathfinder Society Scenario Ongoing Subscription - but there were not invoices for PFS PF 2.0 scenarios for me or mail notificatiins. Is that right? In Paizo Store they are in Available group for purchasing...

Under your name it just shows Starfinder Society Subscription, not PFS.

Is this the same issue that is delaying the scenarios for Venture Officers?

Have any of the organized play modules been delayed? I ask because the three items I did not get auths for (PFS 10-23, SFS 2-03, and SFS 2-04) are now all showing as not available.

That's a good question. I have an organized play session on Mondays and I'm wondering if I should or should not schedule one of these for 5 August.

Just a lowly Venture Agent hoping to get his scenarios dropped before the weekend so I can run an adventure.

If all else fails, I guess I will have to buy it, since that seems to be the available option.

Can we get an update on PFS subs please? Still not showing in my downloads but they are available for me to buy in the store. I got the order email so that worked properly. Thanks!

Hrm. My email didn't mention 10-23 at all, which is kind of a pain, since I need to run that really soon. The PFS2 stuff would also be appreciated, too--1-01, 1-02, and 1-03 are all pending for me but can be purchased on the site.

I don't suppose if I go out and pay for the scenario I'm supposed to get for free as a VL, I could get a refund when you've got more time to deal with things after Gencon...

Just got an email saying order complete and was able to download

I've created a new thread for the Scenario Subscriptions for this month.

This thread is now sticky on this forum with updates and information. I'm sorry about the delay folks!
