There's a blog post about it. Someone else can link to it, I'm in a rush. But it seems worth acknowledging on this board.

litterally last night I mentioned thinking about converting kingmaker to pf2 for my stream game...

Yo, where's Second Darkness? Been playing it for years and it's getting annoying to convert, was excited since it was next in line!

Kingmaker videogame is really cool, but i find the AP kinda overrated for all the glorifying it gets around here.

Kingmaker sold like crazy, SD didn't. That's the only thing you consider when deciding what gets updated first.

I’m very excited for this and with the success of the game I think this an awesome decision by Paizo. I will be purchasing this for sure as well as any extras that are available with it.

I'm excited. Especially since it will give the fans of PF1 who are hesitant on switching something to compare the systems

...So... the joke that Paizo is attempting to publish a version of Kingmaker in every conceivable format known to man doesn't seem like such a joke any more... :P

In all seriousness, this is cool. I already ran Kingmaker, but it is among my all-time favorite APs and I fully support more people getting to experience it. I hope they also take some of the improvements that the computer game made and add them in for the 2e version.

I look forward to the Kingmaker comic book, web cartoon, and mobile app, then.

Time to start stealing that Skyrim meme format!

I'm hoping that all the guys wanting the 1E statted version doesn't end up taking away 2E stretch goals.

I know from the amount of people wanting a 1E version it would be silly for Paizo to not consider doing it as well due to the sheer demand for it but I wouldn't want to lose out on any 2E stuff for them to get it.

I think it would be a great last hurrah for 1E and show some final love to the 1E people.

I know Erik and Jason read through the forums and listen in to the shows a lot more than most companies, and I know they care about pleasing the fanbase so hopefully they figure out something to please the majority without irking the minority and the other way around. ( I know it wont be easy)

That said I am super pumped up and so is my group for 2E.

This Crowdfunding Kingmaker AP is great and I'm sure it'll show the dev team a glimpse of how people really feel about everything.

Most of the info that would be in "1E statted version" already exists in 1E Bestiaries.
Much of the rest is already printed in 1E Kingmaker, the stats of which anybody can post or distribute as OGL.
Only the "new content" classed NPCs, unique monsters, and unique skill challenge DCs actually need new 1e conversion.
Probably reasonable for any GM to handle themselves, but again also compatible with public posting/distibution via OGL.
I wouldn't be surprised if people post 1e retro-conversion stats for that new content here on Paizo boards.
AFAIK people have already shared P1E conversions of older 3.5 Paizo adventures, this isn't much different, really.

Out of curiosity to folks wanting a 1e version, would you be interested if it were simply an “archive edition” that reprinted the AP as-published? A full-on 1e version is like doing the entire book twice, and I can’t see how we’d do it. But I’ve been thinking about a “straight reprint” (in a single binding), and something like that might be feasible.

But would anyone buy it?

Dark Archive

I would consider buying a straight reprint. I don't have the original, it is not high on my list of APs, but the value proposition in a hard back might tip the scales.

Thats awesome to know!

Its not something I personally want as I will be moving forward and playing and embracing 2E but I like that he cares enough about the fanbase to at least consider it.

I can't wait for tuesday to see what this crowdfund entails but this is one of those times where I will be looking at all the extras even if it hits the 500$ range as I want to support Paizo as best as I personally can.

As is gone into on the actual site, this version has an optional PF1 Bestiary, converting the book for use in PF1 (just like the 5E one for converting things to D&D 5E).

Also, the campaign is already over 80k out of a 50k goal, so it's going well.

Just to keep everyone up to date.

Damn, Paizo is stealing my money right out of my pockets. After peroordering all the 2e stuff now it's Kingmaker I came to value from the PC game. Woe unto them if I go bancrupt!

So I'm wating for "Kingmaker - The Movie" as the foundation of the KCU. With Peter Dinklage as Linzi and Gal Gadot as Amiri!

I'd watch that, there are not enough high fantasy movies

I wonder how much funding Paizo needs to unlock that option?

And isn't Linzi a female gnome? If so, Peter Dinklage might better be cast in a dual role as the iconic bard and his mesmerist brother.

Hm, you make a good point - I'm not sure Peter Dinklage could pull off "gnome". :P

They ought to just do kickstarters/crowdfunding for projects people ask for, but that they aren't sure the viability of.
For instance, I'm sure people will want RotR for every edition of the game until the end of time. Not sure? Use kickstarter. If it gets funded, they're already paid before beginning. If it's not funded, they know there wasn't enough interest.

I feel like these stretch goals are too far apart for this platform. I don’t see this project getting the amount pledged it deserves. I know they’ve stated the reason they went with gameontabletop but I think they are going to barely make the 500k mark using it. I hope they tighten up the amounts to give us more for our bucks. The hard cover book plus a tiny companion guide special edition already cost me over 250$ with shipping. I live in Canada and expect some exchange rate and shipping hindrance but that means I paid 200$ for a hardcover.

That's weird. I'm at 175$ with the same pledge, the dices, and 8 extra tokens, shipping included... Where are you in Canada? Maybe I have better shipping because I'm closer to the border? I'm in Quebec (Montreal)...

[Edit] oooh wait, "Special edition", you mean the "leather" one? Oh so not same pledge. Sorry. xD

[Edit2] Now that I think of it, if I remove the 53$ for the tokens and dices, even if I switch to the special edition I stay around 170$... There's still something weird.

163$ for the ruler pledge plus dice plus shipping came to 252$ Canadian after the exchange. That’s 180$ for the hardcover and 50 for companion guide and 20$ for dice.

Erik offered a little more detail about this decision over on Reddit, for those who might be curious:

Erik Mona wrote:

I wanted to circle back now that the campaign is live.

Ultimately, we decided to go with a 1E Bestiary similar to the 5E version that was part of the original plan. This will provide rules and stat blocks to help players run the campaign in 1E, as a companion to the big 2E campaign.

Printing up a big archive edition didn't work economically into the model for this crowdfunding effort, so we decided to go with something else that would allow 1E players to run the expanded and (hopefully!) improved campaign.

So that's where we're at with 1E support. Thanks for your feedback. It was very helpful!

Linzi is a female Halfling Bard. You're thinking of Lini the Gnome Druid.

So, I have already backed the new compilation, but one question I have is if there will be digital interactive maps released (the same as the ones you receive if you have an Adventure Path subscription) for this product?

My gaming set up makes use of a Microsoft Surface and a 50 inch TV as the gaming map. I use Photoshop to project the map onto the TV allowing me to zoom in/out as necessary for miniature use. I have no desire to ever hand draw a map every again.

You are totally right.

In that case, I see no reason Peter Dinklage wouldn't be perfect for this role. :P

Will these books be available on Paizo after the pledge drive?

I really wanted that Vampire Hunter D Pathfinder book but I missed its Kickstarter and as far as I know it was never sold on paizo.com.

Great!

I personally am very glad to have this famous landmark AP ready to be played for 2e, and doubly happy that the official conversion will help me translate other 1e APs. As for D&D, I hope many people play it and like Golarion enough to decide to give PF a try. More customers = more money for Paizo = better production values all around (among other things).
