1-I Like the original black and white movie of Arsenic and Old Lace, and I have been 'Dr. Einstein' in the play. (I did a passable imitation of Peter Lorry. I was 20 OK? ) ;P
2- Never actually seen Hot Fuzz, I think I'd like it? But I'd have to be in the right frame of mind for it. ('Right frame of mind'= 'Lots of alcohol') ;)
3-Megamind. Yes. That is all. One of my favorite cartoons. I also like the Megamind short that came with the DVD set, "The Big Red Button of DOOM"

I have a hard time cementing in place a solid "top three" movie list. I guess the ones I choose change based a lot on my current mood and interests. Today my list would be this:

Or is it the one in 1997 that added updated special effects that worked in some places and were terrible in others (Jabba was bad, the X-wings were decent but unnecessary, the explosion update was...unnecessary), changed canon (Han shot first! Yes. The scene after the Death Star explosion, when Luke is getting out of his X-wing. Mark Hamill yells "Carrie!" instead of "Leia!"
And it got left in.
Also - Empire Strikes Back...ice cave with the wampa. Sound effect of a lightsaber being turned off, but it doesn't actually happen on-screen. It not only got left in the original, but also got left in the late-90's re-release.
What I'm saying is...people on the internet yell about crap happening in both the prequels and the sequels and keep yelling about how it's all terrible except for the original trilogy...then they start yelling about Ewoks also being awful and somehow manage to act like that wasn't part of the original trilogy.
But there was some crap in the original trilogy too, and people don't seem to notice that.
Also...my half-hearted attempt to minimally defend Jar Jar: In 1980 Yoda was pretty controversial too. That's where I'll stop with that because Jar Jar is no Yoda. And there was no internet either.

I think I have already spoken about my issues with the ugly parts of the Star Wars fanbase elsewhere. I love what I love, dislike what I dislike, and keep it civil on the whole. I also try to point out problems, as above with issues with Ewoks and Yoda and such.
I have VERY vague memories of a contingent of the fanbase not liking the fact that he was on sesame street or something like that.

heh. I didn't care for the "upgrades" they did in later releases. They were nice eye candy, but that's really about it. I was 13 when Star Wars was released and I saw it twelve times that summer, then when it hit the drive-in that fall I saw it 6 more times. It's a beautifully flawed movie but I love it just the way it is.

My mother thought that I would be awed by space ships zooming around and lasers. Because I was 3 in 1977. What she didn't bank on was me being able to quote the movie nearly verbatim after one showing...then taking me again...and then pawning me off on someone else to take me again...and again...and again...
What I find great right now is my cousin's son is about 4. He can give me the back story on any character I pull out of any of the 10 movies, plus Rebels, plus Clone Wars, plus the latest series, plus a few from other sources he couldn't possibly have access to. And it doesn't matter if the character only shows up in one scene. He knows it.

My mother thought that I would be awed by space ships zooming around and lasers. Because I was 3 in 1977. What she didn't bank on was me being able to quote the movie nearly verbatim after one showing...then taking me again...and then pawning me off on someone else to take me again...and again...and again...
What I find great right now is my cousin's son is about 4. He can give me the back story on any character I pull out of any of the 10 movies, plus Rebels, plus Clone Wars, plus the latest series, plus a few from other sources he couldn't possibly have access to. And it doesn't matter if the character only shows up in one scene. He knows it.

Fun fact, Star Wars was the FIRST Non-G (PG) movie I was allowed to see. And my mom only let me see it because my Aunt had already seen it, and assured her that it was OK for me to see.

It's a fun campaign. A lot of the challenges are overwhelming, if faced head-on with traditional hack-slash-burn tactics. I mean, they're dealing with Lovecraftian eldritch horrors.
Fortunately, my group is smart. They realized a while back that they need to be very goal-focused. Is the goal to gank all the monsters, or is it to get the one thing they REALLY need and then run like hell, hoping to hang onto the shreds of their sanity (and flesh)?

It is difficult to get players heads out of the 'Slash/kill/burn & loot the bodies' mode of RPG sometimes. (MOST of the times)
And I include myself in that number. Once you get past 1st lvl or so, (You know, where you can get hit by a dagger and NOT insta-die!) everything starts to look like Extra XP,... ;)
