GM Sedoriku |
Perfect, I'd been looking at the lore muse anyways! The true strike with magic weapon should make a fairly powerful melee caster. I'm not going to have his sheet ready today though, but I will be finishing him up tomorrow morning!
Flint Thunderstriker -PT- |
Just a quick heads up. Starting Friday 17-Aug until Tuesday 21-Aug my internet connection is going to be spotty. I expect to get in a morning and an evening post, but likely only that.
GM Aerondor |
I fly out in a week and a half. Even with the subsections running quickly, I think we would be pushing it to get the last "preliminray" quest done and give you closure on the final part. So I'm tempted to skip part three and move you on to the final.
If anyone really wants to do part three sing out. Remember this is repeatable as many times as you want.
Unless I hear protests I'll advance you to the final part either later tonight or tomorrow sometime.
GM Aerondor |
To make climbing down walls a challenge again!
I think it was probably being overused, but it did make lots of things much easier. I'd be happy if they reinstated it as "take 8" to show you were erring on the side of caution, and to give a decent incentive to try and take a risk, but give a safe option as well.
Flint Thunderstriker -PT- |
I'm with you on the Take 8, or even 5 for extra fast math. Assurance just doesn't seem worth it.
Scenes like this are likely to help us test their ideas on it. That's why feedback is so important.
2E - Darius Kolphan |
A few reasons come to mind:
1 - They can lower skill DCs, since DC 10 skill checks were trivial.
2 - More skills can be made untrained, so this may be the tradeoff.
3 - It makes the Assurance feat relevant, although it may be underpowered. Skill feats seem underpowered or too situational across the board, though.
4 - I always forgot about take 10 unless it had to deal with the bog standard DC 10 Climb/Swim check. But that's just me.
Calder Snowborne |
Take 10 drives me nuts tbh. I feel like, if a player is really aware of the rule, they spam it, and it takes a lot of the fun out of some checks. There are some situations where it makes sense, like taking extra time to climb or spending time studying something for a recall knowledge roll, but it can really be used to broadly if a player really pushes it.
Flint Thunderstriker -PT- |
In one of my 3-4 normal F2F/PbP groups, T10 is ubiquitous. They use it constantly. They don't feel that their fun is lessened, as it allows them to fast forward to the real "struggle" as they see it.
I exist comfortably in both worlds, but can definitely see why some people love it and others do not.
Ogren Wal |
Okay with a little more time I was able to find the passage on Identifying monsters and it is a recall knowledge skill and therefore an action!
Identifying monster abilities is one of the most common uses of Recall Knowledge. The monster’s commonality sets the difficulty: low for common monsters, high for uncommon, and severe for rare or unique. Most monsters’ level should be the level of the DC, but you could reduce the level drastically for really famous monsters. A character who succeeds identifies the monster and singles out one of its best-known attributes—such as a troll’s weakness to acid and fire or a manticore’s tail spikes. On a critical success, the character gets that information plus something more subtle, like a demon’s weakness or the
trigger for a reaction. After a success, further uses of Recall Knowledge can yield more information, but you should increase the difficulty each time. Once a character has attempted an extreme-difficulty check or failed a check, further attempts are fruitless.
GM Aerondor |
We are just about done here, can you all post your PFS details for reporting purposes?
And boon rolls: 19s and 20s.
Darius: 1d20 ⇒ 14
Bristor: 1d20 ⇒ 9

Flint, well done. If you could drop me your email address that would also be helpful.

Celestial Traveler. Get one of two benefits for going to Nirvana or Elyseum.
GM Aerondor |
I've done the GD VII reporting, but am having a hard time finding the playtest feedback sheet for rose street revenge ...
Don't forget to fill in the player survey
GM Aerondor |
Speaking of reporting, somwhere there is a form where I fill in your numbers so you get playtest credit, but I can't find that anywhere.
Anyone got a pointer to it?
Bristor PT |
If you scroll all the way down on the playtest page, there are the links for the Pfs surveys.
As for reporting, I think it gets reported like any other pfs scenario. Does the con have a system by which they do it for you?
GM Aerondor |
Yes, so for con purposes I have done the reporting.
For feedback on the scenario I have done the GM survey, and encourage you all to do the player one.
But I thought there was another link somewhere that records your PFS numbers for playtest credit - although what that ends up looking like is I think still undetermined.
Bristor PT |
My understanding is that they are using the normal con reporting to track those play points for boons at the start of PFS2. Some of the conversation in response to the blog about it stressed the importance of reporting for this reason (and people expressing concern that played this scenario before the website had it in the system to be reported). So I think that's it.
Flint Thunderstriker -PT- |
When you report to our XXXX-1501 characters, we are supposed to get PTP points (listed on "My Organized Play").
It's currently broken. The system can't handle multiple runs of the same scenario. I STRONGLY suggest keeping a log until they've fixed it. We get 4 for playing it and 5 for running it.
GM Aerondor |
Ahh. Wonderful. Thanks for that, reassuring to know there is not something outstanding for me to worry about completing.
Flint Thunderstriker -PT- |
GM Aerondor - could you please close this campaign when you have a chance? Just looking to declutter my campaign page.
Aerondor's on holiday for ...another week and a half or so, so it might be a bit.
GM Aerondor |
Back now, and closing the game down.
Edit: The site won't let me edit the campaign for some reason. I'll try again in a day or two.
GM Aerondor |
BTW I'm reusing this discussion thread for my next playtest game as well. Hopefully I should be able to make the Rose Street as inactive at some point in the future.
And for all you Shrieking peak fans... welcome aboard.
GM Aerondor |
Should be level 5, your tag line still says level 1.
Aside from that you're probably more experienced in the PT than I am :-)
I'm curious about how your sorcerer has a +5 proficiency bonus with his armor though. Do you get your level on your AC? Checking out the pre-gens it appears so. Guess this is why we are trying higher level characters.
Chris Marsh |
Woops. I meant to throw my name in here. Oh well, no worries on the thread. When it works, it works.
Mordack Dune 3 |
Enchanter, you know you get your level to AC. You are trained in armored. If you were unarmored, you are trained in unarmored, so you would still get your level to it.
Also, I'm proficient with armor, cause I took the Paladin Archtype.
Barin Orc-bane |
First of all, thanks for having me, I'm actually very glad to start learning the new system.
I'm trying to build a lvl 5 character from scratch (without knowing the system that well I might add) and I went for a dwarven fighter.
I managed to assimilate a few basic rules (and the updates) but putting them all together needs a bit of time. For now here's my character, I'll improve his stat block tomorrow.
GM Aerondor |
No worries. We are all still learning it, and the rules are a bit of a moving feast at the moment.
Barin Orc-bane |
Thanks, I’m trying to learn the system as fast as possible but the various updates make the prospect pretty arduous... anyway, are there any extra rules specific to PFS play? And if so, where can I find it?
Gayel Nord |
I don't think so. There no document. There a blog but it doesn't specify Anything.
Btw. I forgot About the game so my profile is mot here. My sheet us ready.
Isabella is an human Barbarian expert in occult and médecine.
She is searching her lost Brother Who have been kidnapped by orcs during an attack a long Time ago.
Barin Orc-bane |
About items, magic items and the like: a lvl 5 charatcer should have one 4th lvl item, two 3rd lvl items, one 2nd lvl item and two 1st level treasure besides 50gp. Is this correct for pfs?
Barin Orc-bane |
So if I get this correctly Barin could start with:
-A single +1 dwarven waraxe (lvl 4 item, expert crafted)
-A +1 chainmail (lvl 3 item, expert crafted) and a Feather Step Stone (lvl 3 item)
-A wayfinder (lvl 2 item)
-One vial of silversheen and one minor healing potion (both lvl 1 items).
What about normal items? If I want to buy a normal shield I need to do so with the money I have since those are not listed anywhere near treasure? And what about expert crafted shields?
