Not sure if it is too early to post this but why not, right!? :)

Has the planning begun on the Pre and Post con events started?

Curious what the offerings are going to be.

Grand Lodge 3/5

I am intrigued as well. Any Brewhouse shenanigans in the works this year?

Liberty's Edge 3/5 5/5 **** Venture-Captain, Nebraska—Omaha

I really enjoyed my trip last year to Scotty's pub but I have read on GenCon forums that the business has changed hands and increased prices.

James Risner organized a bunch of tables on Wednesday last year. Not sure if he's planning to do the same again this year.

I'm probably going to sleep Wednesday and help with take-down on Sunday IF I can find a local place to stay.

I really enjoyed my Sunday night game last year. I would gladly participate again.

The intent is to run pregencon once again this year at Scotty’s. Stay tuned for more info. :)

This pleases me - have enjoyed Scotty's both years I've participated. Staying tuned.

I will probably NOT be doing pre-Con events this year.

I've stepped up a bit with GM duties during the convention and I want to remain sharp and ready for them.

Post-Con, though, may be an option, provided they start no earlier than say, 7PM.

This is excellent news. I'm looking forward to running games again at Scotty's.

Bloomington (~1 hour south of Indy) has PFS events every Monday evening, including the day after Gen Con. If you're planning on being in town long enough, we might even be able to arrange transportation, given enough lead-time!

Assuming you're not already exhausted by the time Monday night rolls around! :P

Monday night I need to be home to go to work Tuesday.

Looking for something Wed and Sun nights. By Sunday my son should have a seeker ready for more action!

4/5 **

I still haven't decided if I'm flying or driving to Indy, but I may potentially be interested in some pre- and/or post-con tables.

Grand Lodge 3/5

I'll be flying out Monday evening, so if there may be something Sunday night (going to help with takedown again) or Monday morning, I'll be great!

I’d be up for GMing something on Sunday. The only caveat: this year James Risner is guaranteed the first spot at my table if he wants it. He put so much work into our games last year, and then somehow never got into a game himself. I don’t want a repeat of that this year.

Hmm

Getting in Wednesday afternoon and would love to play or GM something Wednesday night. :)

I'll be getting in late wednesday morning, so am looking to play in the afternoon and GM in the evening.

Maybe if people get an opportunity to play on Wednesday and Sunday evening, they might be willing to GM or perhaps add a slot or two to an existing schedule :-)

I'm already GMing for you Bob. I wish I could do more than I've signed up for, but I'm old enough to know my limits.

I know it doesn't help for this year, but next year I expect to be helping more. But this year my son and I will be enjoying the con.

Grand Lodge 4/5 5/55/5 ***

My comment was not directed any particular person, so please don't feel like I'm calling *you* out or anything. Sorry if that is how it read.

Just hoping to encourage more volunteerism as there are a lot of factors coming together this year that seem to be having a negative impact on the community. I am hoping more people will look past these inconveniences and increase their level of participation. If not, it is what it is. We can only manage the resources provided. In the end, if we have to cancel tables for lack of GMs, we wil cross that bridge when we come to it. Gen Con might be the largest convention of the year, but it is still plagued by many of the same challenges faced by even the smallest of events.

Liberty's Edge 3/5 5/5 **** Venture-Captain, Nebraska—Omaha

I know Jon. I didn't feel that way.

I am just excited to spend time with my son.

But for others don't be scared to try. It is easier than you think.

I'm not as young as I used to be, the idea of eight slots is currently a non-starter for me.

HOWEVER, life is strange and full of changes sometimes. We'll see.

4/5 **

So, for pre- and post- con events, where are they exactly? I'll probably be flying in early Wednesday and leaving late Monday.

Liberty's Edge 3/5 5/5 **** Venture-Captain, Nebraska—Omaha

They are not yet setup.

I take that to mean that physical location is still up in the air?

Hmm, I may just need to buy my plane ticket and save up for Uber fare.

No. Pre-GenCon is hosted at Scotty's Brewhouse courtesy of the Indianapolis Pathfinder Lodge on the Wednesday before GenCon.

I'm in the early stages of planning the event, but it will be happening.

Are there going to be evening games at scottys this year?

Liberty's Edge 3/5 5/5 **** Venture-Captain, Nebraska—Omaha

And slots outside of Scott's?

Ditto.

Side Note: The Pre-GenCon gaming at Scotty's is a show highlight for me. I'll miss it greatly.

Unfortunately there will not be any evening gaming at Scotty's hosted by the Indianapolis PFS Lodge.

Does this include the Wednesday games too?

Grand Lodge 4/5 5/55/5 ***

Wednesday is what he’s talking about. We have to vacate Scotty’s at 5pm. So while there will be two slots of events during the day, there will not be any organized PFS in Scotty’s after that

Sadness for that then. :-( I was looking forward to getting to do this this year.

Ther's nothing to say you cannot organize an event Wednesday evening on your own. It happens quite a bit. Most hotels have comfortable lobby space that people use to game. Sometimes there are tables set up in the hallways of the convention center people will "steal" on Wednesday. They usually have the paint 'n take tables set up east of the Sag at the top of the escalators where I've seen people play. Other offsite locations as well, union station, the White Castle, Champs (really loud), in someone's hotel room. If you're lucky, you could set up at the patio furniture by the food trucks, just east of the convention center. As long as they don't have any events running in that area on Wednesday night, it would be a nice place to play if you enjoy the outdoors

Liberty's Edge 3/5 5/5 **** Venture-Captain, Nebraska—Omaha

Last year there were several tables setup with gencon on Wednesday night. Will that be the case this year?

James Risner (VA from Kentucky?) organized that last year and responded to my PM a few weeks ago saying he was planning to organize that again this year. Guessing he may be waiting for the Scotty's stuff to go up before he posts? If he doesn't get something up within the next week, I'll post something to organize it myself (need to get it submitted and ticketed prior to June 17th for people to get tickets mailed rather than waiting for will-call)

As for locations, don’t forget Lucas Oil Stadium (as long as GenCon still utilizes the stadium).

Started a list here.

I'm only planning on Wednesday night right now. My flight is scheduled to be in Wednesday morning, so if there are enough people interested, I can likely do Wednesday afternoon as well.

I can't think of a better way to end GenCon than a table of Skitter Shot, if you're up for it. :)

Grand Lodge 4/5 5/55/55/55/5 **** Venture-Captain, Minnesota

Won’t most of you have played it already? Though I suppose that since I am half way to my first skitter some of you SF GMs might already have one by the end of GenCon and would want to play skitter shot with your actual skitters. That could be hilarious!

Starfinder's only really caught on in one small spot of my area, but hearing the recording of your PBP panel from PaizoCon has me interesting in trying it out that way. You have a good point about most people having already played it though.

Okay, I may need to bring my starfinder character to Indianapolis.

For Pre/Post GenCon events, a friendly request to please have someone (GM, player, random person with internet) post to the GenCon channel of the PFS Discord if you are open to random PFSers joining the fun! (pfschat.com).

(Community Service announcement, as while my GMing spirit is willing, alas hotel rooms just aren't working out. Maybe next year!)

Landon, do you want to try it out in PBP? I have a group of four for PBP Gameday VII, but I wouldn’t mind having a second Quonx join my table. We had kind of decided to leave the last two slots of my games to any latecomers or newbies. Would you like to join us there? Let me know, and I’ll give you a link to the table.

I'd be interested in playing something post gencon. SFS of PFS. Depending on how my mental state is after running 8 times in the previous 4 days I could be up for running something also.

Hilary, what about Ashes of Discovery? I personally haven’t played it yet, and it’s replayable!
