I ran this last night for my regular society group, and just a few thoughts -
1) Make sure you budget extra time for the scenario (it took us around 6.5 hours to complete).
2) Definity have a resource for your players to see the checks, it definitely speeds things up. I used a google doc where they could write in what they were doing and with who, as well as track their progress.
3) Even though it runs long, this is a very interesting scenario and definitely worth the time.

If you are referring to PF2 1-21 "Mistress of the Maze" then I have good news. We have confirmation that the May releases will be available for PaizCon Online. The downside is the earliest we might be able to drop them is late Friday 22 May, though it might not be until Monday 25 May. So, be careful and plan to prep last minute if you register to GM any of the May releases.

This just made my night! Thank you!

Low Priority here - I've gmed and played it, but it was fun so I would love to get to again. More than willing to help with mechanics as needed.

I've got a level 2 Druid, or I am willing to bring any of the pregens to help balance the party.

Now to convert that Skittergoblin to Pathfinder 2, because I have a player who wants to make it into the PC who has a cannonball act for the circus...

I'm having the same issue. Even with trying to go back in and resave the report, it continues to default it back to 8.

I printed the entire section and some from the toolbox too (weapons and spells). However, I did put blocks over the spoilery bits. There aren't many but I didn't want them to see the chapter names and there was a paragraph in the beginning I covered.

Thank you for this suggestion! I decided to do this for them, and now my group is joking about the redacted information. <3

When giving players resources for building their characters, beyond the players' guide, how much of the Life of the Circus section did you give them access too? I want them to have the rules for building their tricks as part of their design, but as I look through here there are other areas that it starts to go into. So, I figured I would come and ask others' thoughts on this.

So, my group never thought to try to build the raft (also almost left the accountant behind due to some of the characters not wanting to deal with a beurocrate [and not caring about getting Gurrila his money]). That being said, when they got to the shore they purposely asked to find driftwood and fashion something from that. Also, since they only had the one raft, they sent the five plus one party member out. When they spotted the shark, the first person in initiative used their actions to step into the water, cut their hand, and start having the blood rush into the water, which attracted the shark. This made for a much different fight and allowed the part to get the refugees out.

Also, as an aside - the party had just recently played Tarnbreaker's Trail, with its race of 200 miles in 4 days. They had a hard time wrapping their head around 2 hours to move a few hundred feet after they had just "flown" through that race.

I'm really sad that even though the Year of the Open Road logo is what is on the product page for the Women's cut T-shirts, it isn't available... Also, while it is available as a hoodie (2-sided!) it isn't for the zip-up... It would be awesome if it were available in one or both of these options...

Sorry for revisiting an old thread, but I am trying to track down a clarification on this as well. Has anyone seen anything written about this?

The simplest solution to me is to say you can play each part (assuming modules still have parts) in PFS mode. GMs can shorten it as they see fit, but cannot add things. As long as you play either all of the content or a full four hour session and complete 50% of the content, then you get credit. And then giving each section a chronicle sheet that advances the character enough to reach the next section. I don’t particularly care what items are on it, or if there is a boon, or any of that. I just want to be able to play the module with my PFS character and PFS rules (for me and the GM) and to get a chronicle sheet when the session is over.

I really like this idea. This is a good compromise that will work for those of us who want to run this under PFS rules.

It seems to me that the most cumbersome part of the old process was figuring out how to trim down the module to fit into a certain number of play hours and still make sense. This idea leaves the plot trimming up to the GM, and still allows us to work within the PFS play restrictions. (With a loose interpretation of Run As Written.)

I agree with most of this as well - if I recall correctly, the PFS 1 Guild guide states that to get a complete chronicle sheet, a player needs to complete 75% of a scenario (because life happens). If we're able to institute a similar option for running these in PFS mode - must complete X amount of story for your sheet, I think that would help. Also, while I understand some people having concern about having a module part that can be run in a 5-6 hour block giving you a level, some of the sanctioned PF1 modules do just that (see Emerald Spire). That being said, allowing one sheet/level per chapter of the module I think would be fair, possibly gating the keepsake items behind the third sheet - making them the "bonus" for completing the entirety. That way, people who aren't able to make all three pieces still get credit, but those who dedicate the time to the entirety are rewarded for it. The sheet could also be added to by another GM later, as long as you haven't started another scenario (like with Phantom Phenomena or Fallen Family, Broken Name in PF1). Also, this would help with convention planning, because it would give flexibility in scheduling for the planners as well as the players.

I have a question-if I have a gift certificate balance on my account, can this be used to cover my subscription cost? If so, what do I need to do to ensure this happens? Thank you.

Sorry for my quietness, I was having issues with trying to figure out posting everything to the site. I hope everyone has fun, and at least I think I have this figured out for another time.

Sorry for my delay, I've been offline trying to finish up projects - and I just saw that I had been offered a space... Is that still valid? If so, I need to figure out how to enter my character onto my profile - and I'm bookmarking this thread :-)

Hi, I am having an issue with my subscriptions. For the second month in a row my legacy Paizo advantage discount isn’t being applied to other parts of my order. This time it is my other subscription item, The Lost Omens World Guide. If this could be fixed I’d be greatly appreciative.

Forgive me if I’m just misunderstanding, or if this is in the wrong place- I got my order confirmation yesterday #7954864 and I’m confused as to how it is setup because I think I’m missing something. I thought that the campaign setting guides would be Druma and then switch to 2E (which I was okay with) but I didn’t realize the Tyrant’s Grasp Poster Map Folio was a part of it as well. Also, I thought that by doing the AP subscription starting with 144 I would still be able to get the Paizo advantage discount, but I’m not seeing it either on this authorization or the future ones in my account. :-(

So, I’m summary I’ve not been authorized for the Druma book, I have a folio I didn’t realize was a part of the subscription, and I’m not seeing my discount. Am I wrong about how this should work, or did something mess up?

Diego, just to clarify - since only subscribers can get pre-order pickup, does that mean that we aren't going to be able to use earned vouchers (such as from Origins and PaizoCon) to cover the cost of any extra items preordered?

My simple schedule has gotten a little more full:
Exhibit Hall Opens: Start running demos
Exhibit Hall Closes: Stop running demos

Evenings:
Thursday: Run PF2 1-00: Origin of the Open Road
Friday: Play SFS 2-00
Saturday: Play PFS 10-98

Overnights: Sleep? At least some ;-)
Other than that, looking for some of the shenanigans that tend to float around gatherings of Pathfinders and Starfinders.

I’m more than a little perturbed at the moment.

I tried to subscribe so I could get this stuff at Gen Con, but the system wouldn’t let me use the vouchers I have to pay for it. So my only choice was to prep-order them.

If I can’t pick them up at Gen Con, I’m going to be pretty unhappy. I do understand the need to let subscribers have some advantage (they get free PDFs) but this isn’t just a standard release.

I wish we would hear SOMETHING.

I was under the impression that you paid for the items in your side-cart when you picked them up, so you could use them for that? Unless I misunderstood, :-(

Thank you. I read through most of the product pages and couldn’t find an answer, so I appreciate you giving me one. I guess I’ll wait To put in my order until I know one way or the other.

One more question that comes off of this though- will the deluxe hardcover be available at GenCon, or only as a preorder?

Combined with some of the Starfinder Scenarios and Quests. I think it would be the right direction to go. One of the complaints last year was the lack of Starfinder in the Academy Area.

I do think also for the Academy Area we should reduce the number of tables, being offered in the Sag and see if we can get a demo table in the kids area that is put on by GenCon. It would reach more exposure for the Academy and New people for Academy.

I do feel we could probably teach PS2 if we kept it simple with a basic quest line and a Quick Start Guide.

I think the Lesson plans need to be rewritten for the Academy with the both the New Systems in mind.

New Systems, New Academy :D

My 2 cents.

Never give Up, Never Surrender!!

This would, however, require Paizo support to produce a series of Quests to roll out with the introduction of the Starfinder Beginner's Box to the Academy tables. As busy as they are with PF2, I'm not sure this is on their radar... though it should be. The Pathfinder Beginners Box would never have seen as much acclaim if it hadn't been supported with the PSA program. As it is, one reason this product dropped in popularity was the lack of continued product support--understandable if you want to avoid dividing your customer base. It was because of this that the Transition Lesson plan was written, to move the PSA audience toward regular Core Rulebook play.

I think "taking a year off" with the PSA program would be a mistake. It is the first introduction some kids have to tabletop roleplaying games, and starting them young builds a foundation for the future. If we ignore this program, we risk losing all the momentum and goodwill this has garnered so far. Yes, last year's numbers

...

What about modding one of the current quest sets/whatever is released with the Starfinder Beginner box to work with the lessons that were written for the original PSA material? Or just update the ruleset in beginner and advanced to match that of Starfinder/P2? Lots of that stuff is still very relevant (and I've sat with the tables that really had to start with "what are these dice?") and I think that modifying it, rather than starting from scratch, is the answer for longevity. I also agree with pulling in more of the society content, because as we get these kids transitioned into full adventures, if we have gotten them into society then hopefully they can look for a group to continue with when they go home.

I second everything Lucas said. We want to be teaching the kids the systems going forward, and since we’ve got a beginner box coming for Starfinder, and P2 development purposely looked at having an easier entry point, having kids jump into the systems is a great opportunity for growth. Also, looking at scenarios that could be used for this, for P1 the Goblins ones have been used, so could Skittershot be used for Starfinder? It definitely encourages working together and being “helpful”.
