Helping companion skill check

Rules Questions

Can I use Vision of Madness to increase my companions spellcraft check (while he takes negatives to attack rolls/saving throws)for when he's crafting a wonderous item?

Vision of Madness (Sp): You can give a creature a vision of madness as a melee touch attack. Choose one of the following: attack rolls, saving throws, or skill checks. The target receives a bonus to the chosen rolls equal to ½ your cleric level (minimum +1) and a penalty to the other two types of rolls equal to ½ your cleric level (minimum –1).

The bit you didn't quote goes 'This effect fades after 3 rounds. You can use this ability a number of times per day equal to 3 + your Wisdom modifier.'

A buff generally needs to last as long as the skill check takes. If they're working for 2 hours a day you'd need give them a vision of madness 400 times. Therefore once you get a wis bonus of +397 you're set.

Persuading your GM to allow you to aid another your companions' skill check may be more profitable.

Ohh I thought the check was just made once, my bad. Thank you, good to know.

Got a source on that? I've seen it mentioned more than once, but never seen an actual rule for it. PFS ruling perhapes?

There's no rule for it - it's just common sense though.

I don't know if there's a rule on it, but I believe there's a developer comment about the check on crafting magic items representing your work for the day. You don't spend hours twiddling your thumbs and then do the actual work in one round, that'd be silly.

You don't make daily crafting checks for magic items anyways. You make one check after spending 8 hours per 1k gold in the item price. So yeah, it is silly... That does not imply anything about if it is correct or not, however.
