@GM Choon: Variant multiclassing?

Sovereign Court

Ok, tentatively, here is Godwyn Clearwater, a human paladin (mind sword) of Iomedae.

Godwyn is a philosopher-warrior. He believes that fighting to defend people is important, but that fighting the hordes of the Abyss with swords and armies is just fighting the symptom of a larger problem, and that you can't hack-and-slash the Worldwound closed. As a result he thinks a lot about ways to encourage people to do better, to be better, to make humanity and its allies better so that they can stand against the Abyss by standing together for common cause. He believes that the problems of corrupt crusaders, criminals, and cultists are just as much a hindrance as the demons of the Worldwound. He also believes that systemic poverty and inequality contribute as much to suffering, misery, and ultimately the rise of evil in the world as the machinations of supernatural entities.
As a result, Godwyn is not a "toe the line hardcase" paladin, but rather one who ruminates and reasons to figure out the best way to solve problems not just to protect people and defeat evil in the moment, but to provide long-term solutions. He won't shy from combat when it's called for, and he'll smite a demon just as well as anyone else, but he also thinks it's important to foster compassion, charity, justice, mercy, tolerance, and other similar characteristics.
Godwyn is empathetic and a good judge of character, and he was raised with the fanciful and heroic tales of the church of Iomedae and took them to heart in spite of his hard, poverty-stricken childhood. For his early adult life he was essentially an assistant to a retired mercenary crusader, so he didn't come to his paladin's calling until later in life than many - at this time, he is 30 years old.

Godwyn is a good listener and a conciliatory figure who is more likely to try to build consensus and defuse tensions than to argue or try to force people to do things "the one true way."
He could have character ties with other crusaders or clerics, connections from childhood in Kenabres, or might be a mentor figure to someone.

Godwyn is also psychically sensitive (he has the Psychic Sensitive feat) and as a Mind Sword he has a small selection of psychic abilities. This allows him to use certain occult skill unlocks, including Reading Auras, Prognostication, Hypnotism, and Faith Healing.

In terms of party role he is a reasonable front line melee fighter and he has some good resistance to a variety of mental conditions, with the eventual ability to cure those kinds of debuffs on the party (including nasty conditions like shaken or confused, at higher levels), and his Faith Healing skill unlock lets him do some emergency downtime healing in a pinch. He also has a decent Diplomacy score.

Always up for character connections if anyone is interested. Godwyn's info is all in the alias above.

@GM Choon: It also looks like so far nobody has submitted a cleric (though Taliesen, on the previous page, proposed a cleric of Ragathiel). If you think that would be better for the group than Yet Another Paladin, I can do a different character.

Jereru's application is still WIP, but most of the fluff is here (still need to connect with th AP's starting point, but that'll be just two lines).

He's a Warpriest of Iomedae. I was planning other, different things, but due to my rolls I had to stick to something easy to play.

Silver Crusade

Might try to enter Nazz into this...

4d6 ⇒ (4, 2, 4, 6) = 16 14
4d6 ⇒ (4, 1, 1, 4) = 10 09
4d6 ⇒ (1, 1, 6, 6) = 14 13
4d6 ⇒ (5, 3, 5, 6) = 19 16
4d6 ⇒ (1, 3, 5, 4) = 13 12
4d6 ⇒ (4, 1, 3, 3) = 11 10
lol, comes out to a 19PB XD
4d6 ⇒ (4, 3, 4, 3) = 14
4d6 ⇒ (1, 6, 2, 1) = 10
4d6 ⇒ (1, 1, 2, 4) = 8
4d6 ⇒ (2, 4, 2, 1) = 9
4d6 ⇒ (1, 1, 1, 3) = 6
4d6 ⇒ (2, 2, 5, 1) = 10

This is Taliesan's submission, an aasimar crusader cleric of Iomedae. I decided against Ragathiel since I reckon he's more anti devil than anti demon, even though he would be against both.

Basic gist of the background is that Reulin is an aasimar who was raised in the church of Iomedae, wasn't truly faithful until he began receiving dreams, and who then went on to train as a cleric, before receiving a dream that directed him to the worldwound, where he has become a crusader working out of Kenabres.

@GM Choon I chose to use a subdomain of Iomedae for the Touched by Divinity campaign trait. If thats not permitted, I'll go back and change it.

Okay, pending the GM's answer about my having the Banner strapped to my back counting as it being displayed, as well as whether or not he's allowing Leadership, Balthasar is complete.

Jesse, since the Player's Guide does recommend that if multiple people choose Child of the Crusades they should be from the same family, would Godwyn care to be cousins with Balthasar? Possibly on his mother's side, although you could be a branch of the Heimrins who've fallen on hard times.

Variant Multiclassing: No

Banner strapped to back counts as "clearly visible": yes.

Leadership: I'm going to have to look into the relevant book, which I haven't had time to do yet, so: Pending

Subdomain: That's fine.

If I miss a question I'd like to apologise in advance. It is sometimes easy to miss a question in the pile of data I'm currently collecting.

Do as you will. I tend to shy away from telling people what character to submit.

OFFICIAL CLOSE OF RECRUITMENT will be 11:59pm EST this Friday the 29th. I'll announce the winners shortly thereafter (sometime that weekend) and get underway in the first week of the new year.

Exciting!

@GM: Is there anything else you'd like to see in my profile and/or background? (I'm having a lot of fun with this character so far, and I'd be happy to flesh out any details if there's something you want to know. ^^)

Pathfinder Adventure Path, Lost Omens, Rulebook Subscriber

So I noticed as was pointed out earlier that we seem to have a dearth of Cleric applicants. He is another character concept I tried out for this AP, unfortunately the Campaign died less than half-way through the first chapter.
Yes, I am starting him with a 1 level dip into Monk (Martial Artist), but from 2nd on, it will be all Cleric, all the time. I realize, if one gets chosen, the other is not going to be. Either is fine. Hope this doesn't break rules.

First array, second concept

4d6 ⇒ (5, 4, 3, 4) = 16 for 13
4d6 ⇒ (1, 3, 5, 3) = 12 for 11
4d6 ⇒ (5, 1, 1, 3) = 10 for 9
4d6 ⇒ (6, 1, 2, 3) = 12 for 11
4d6 ⇒ (4, 6, 3, 5) = 18 for 15
4d6 ⇒ (1, 3, 6, 2) = 12 for 11

Second go!

Second array, second concept
4d6 ⇒ (3, 2, 3, 4) = 12 for 10
4d6 ⇒ (4, 2, 2, 5) = 13 for 11
4d6 ⇒ (5, 2, 5, 2) = 14 for 12
4d6 ⇒ (3, 1, 4, 6) = 14 for 13
4d6 ⇒ (2, 1, 4, 3) = 10 for 9
4d6 ⇒ (4, 3, 2, 4) = 13 for 11

Hoo Kay! I think I will go with 20pt buy for this one.
wealth: 1d6 ⇒ 5 times 10= 50 gp Again, good thing gear isn't a big thing for him...

Behold, Iacobus, itinerant priest of Kurgess, the strong man!

Background:
"Good afternoon ma'm, may I help you carry that load?"
"Good day sir! Do you have a moment to hear the tale of Kurgess, the Strong Man?"
"Gather 'round, young lads & lasses, and hear the tale of the race that was lost & won!"

"You look like you just lost your last true friend in the world. Perhaps the parable of Kurgess, the Strong Man, might help to lighten your load?"
"My, you are a strong one! But, have you found the strength within yourself that only comes from helping those less fortunate?"

For as long as he can remember, Iacobus has traveled, proclaiming the word of Kurgess, and helping others as he has encountered them.

Literally.

Iacobus' first conscious memory was waking up under the care of an old but spry itinerant priest of Kurgess. He first re-learned to talk by listening to the man's sermons, parables & puppet shows.
Iacobus still hasn't quite figured out that most conversations don't take place at full voice with a magnificent set of lungs.
As time passed, Iacobus learned of the troubles to the North & he know that the goodly might of the Strong Man was needed there.
So here he is, during the festival of Armass. For where there is a festival, Kurgess is to be found. Where Kurgess is to be found, Iacobus will find him & prove his devotion.

Appearance:
Iacobus is a picture of rude physical health, with the perfect physique that only comes with a daily regime of constant effort.
Rare indeed is the day he does not lend a hand, or back, to those in need, accepting only thanks & the occasional beverage in return.
The perfection of his form is only marred by a scar across the back of his head, near the base of his skull; likely the cause of his loss of memory.

Personality:
In a word, Bombastic. Iacobus is loud, gregarious & incapable of speaking softer than 'pitched to carry across a crowded common room'.
However, he will, and has, offer the shirt from his back to those in need.
He rarely imposes his presence upon those who do not wish it, but will happily engage with those who desire it.

Feats:
Meditation Master (Bonus, Monk {Faiths & Philosophies, pg. 19 Monks and Meditation Feats: A monk may take a meditation feat in place of a bonus feat. She must meet all of the prerequisites to take the feat as normal.}) When fully focused on your inner self, you can enter a deep meditative state that allows you a more perfect control over your mind and body.
Benefit: When you meditate for at least 1 hour after getting at least 8 hours of rest, you gain special insight into your situation that is nearly impartial, granting you the edge in whatever endeavor matters most during the day. After meditating, you gain a +1 insight bonus that you can apply to any d20 roll over the course of the next 24 hours without using an action. The bonus may be applied after the roll is made, but must be applied before the results of the roll are determined. Once the bonus has been used for the day, you cannot use it again until after you meditate again after another 8 hours of rest. An unused bonus fades after 24 hours.
Improved Unarmed Strike (Bonus, Monk)
Stunning Fist (Bonus, Monk)

Class Abilities:
AC Bonus (Ex): When unarmored and unencumbered, the monk adds his Wisdom bonus (if any) to his AC and his CMD.
These bonuses to AC apply even against touch attacks or when the monk is flat-footed. He loses these bonuses when he is immobilized or helpless, when he wears any armor, when he carries a shield, or when he carries a medium or heavy load.
Stunning Fist (Ex): 1/day. Save DC 14
Flurry of Blows (Ex): Starting at 1st level, a monk can make a flurry of blows as a full-attack action. When doing so, he may make on additional attack, taking a -2 penalty on all of his attack rolls, as if using the Two-Weapon Fighting feat. These attacks can be any combination of unarmed strikes and attacks with a monk special weapon (he does not need to use two weapons to use this ability). For the purpose of these attacks, the monk's base attack bonus from his monk class levels is equal to his monk level. For all other purposes, such as qualifying for a feat or a prestige class, the monk uses his normal base attack bonus.

GM Choon: Alright, that sounds good to me. I'll await your ruling on Leadership, as well as the relevant Mythic enhancements (both the Mythic feat and the Marshal Path Abilities) for it. If you decide not to allow Leadership, I'll likely swap my Natural-Born Leader trait for something else, otherwise, Balthasar is done.

@GM I think you may have missed my question. If thats ok, then Aria is ready

Aria Dros wrote:

Question for DM: I am looking at using the Exposed to Awfulness campaign trait. In the players handbook

WotR Players Handbook wrote:
When you were a child, you were nearly slain by a demon that managed to make its way through the wardstones into the lands beyond. The demon was slain before it could kill you, but you lingered at death’s door in a coma for weeks before waking.
Instead of my character being attacked by a demon, could it be the character's mother that was attacked and that the character is a result of that attack?

Sure, though it raises the question of how the family wound up so heavily class-bifurcated. Perhaps their parents had a falling out, or maybe Godwyn's father was Balthasar's uncle, and Balthasar's father never approved of Godwyn's mother?

Background:
Born into a family of crusaders Mallic spent much of his childhood learning how to fight and of the valor of the Crusaders. Although he was continually haunted by the ever jaded combatants of the Worldwound as he grew into a young man, he eventually left his home of Kenabres to travel around Mendev to try and better understand the people who fought the demons of the Worldwound.

As he traveled he began feeling his own spirit ignite with the same spark of righteousness that he had seen in many others and became determined to contribute in the war efforts in some way. However, despite his combat training at the hands of his parents he was never a apt fighter. He did however find that he was rather good at motivating others and bringing up a crowd. Eventually he caught the attention of a bard who had spent much of his life fighting for the crusade.

Valentene was inspiring, smart and strong, he was everything Mallic needed in a mentor and more. He learn fencing, academic pursuits, appreciation for art and literature. But perhaps the most important thing he learned from Valentene was philosophy, particularly Valentene's philosophy.

Valentene Understood that the life of the common crusader was often too short and believe that the efforts of romantic pursuits and the preservation of one's Chasity for the sake of marriage was often a waste of time. So he often held many romantic relationships at one time. This given him in the reputation of being lecherous, however Mallic understood the deeper meaning of what Valentene said. It is not to pursue romance for the sake of carnal desire, but rather to give love openly and freely with little concern for ideals such as marriage and preservation. Understanding that this would often lead it to heartbreak in a place such as the Worldwound.

Mallic eventually left Valentenes company, determine now to finally join in the fight against the Worldwound and help rid of the world of it's blight once and for all. Mallic decided to head back to Kenabres first so that he can speak to his family again and enjoy their presence. For what he understands could very well be the last time.

Good thinking, but maybe flipped? Perhaps Godwyn's mother was Balthasar's aunt, and she eloped with Godwyn's father, going against the wishes of their shared grandfather and the rest of the family, which resulted in her being cut off completely. Being originally Chelish nobility, I could see them being outraged by her marrying a commoner.

Balthasar would have known almost nothing about her. He could have met Goldwyn after he joined the crusades - perhaps they're in the same unit?

As for her backstory? Yai was originally supposed to be a secret weapon made by the Riftwardens for the purpose of demon slaying. Demons aren't very strong against electricity, for the most part, so a lightning mage would be the best sort of mage to deal with them en mass. To this end, her mom and dad (among others) got paired off by the Riftwarden higher ups to produce a kid. Yai is the result of this process, and due to some strange arcane experiments has wound up having both of the bloodlines of her parents with a positively explosive potential for destruction inside of her. The downside is that since her parents died and left her an orphan, nobody ever actually told her any of this.

She's a well-adjusted and cordial person who tries to make friends with everyone, but who says her magic is a little bit weaker than most people. She can't cast as many spells as the other mages she's met, and because she's wound up devoted to Yuelral thanks to an elven tutor she had (who told her that her own magic must have some kind of point, and the beauty of it was natural) she's actually tried filing a couple of her fangs before--they aren't really dangerous enough to be used for anything, but between them and the way sunlight sort of makes her queasy she was able to put two and two together and figure out at least part of her bloodlines very quickly.

She's here because she isn't fond of all of herself, but she sure as heck likes other people enough to protect them on the front lines of a crusade!

My sincerest thanks to OCW for keeping all of this straight. It has saved me a lot of headache.

Irnk- Please select one of your characters to be your official submission.

Given that many of the wood specific wild talents function much like clerics spell selection, I will withdraw Iacobus.

For what it is worth, Khaz is a hospitaler Paladin with the oath of the crusade. Not sure if it is mechanically good. But it fits his character.

Question: what demons are you thinking of that are weak against electricity? I flipped through the SRD Bestiary when I was working on my entry, and most demons are immune to electricity. It’s actually forced me into a nonstandard Magus build, since the normal Shocking Grasp build won’t work.

That was honestly missed when I looked at demon traits. Shiz. This is what I get for charactering at 4 am.

Well, change it to earth elemental and acid and now it’s just a resistance. Yay.

6.5 hours remaining.

Silver Crusade

I’ll try to have Nazz rebuilt and submitted before then, but it will be pushing it close.

Ok, here I go with the selection process. We are now closed to new applicants. Wish me luck!

You just need one of these.

Firstly, let me say that I'm humbled by the response. That may be cliché, but it's true. Most recruitments I run have a good response, and this has been no exception due entirely to the effort put forward by youall. Thankyou. That doesn't happen for everyone and I am thankful every time it happens for me.
I have stretched my table to the limit to accommodate everyone I could, but, as usual, there wasn't room for everyone.

With that said, could the following please report to Discussion:

Traskus: Arianna Bienan Female Half-Elf Rogue (Unchained)
Phantm888: Balthasar Heimren Human Cavalier (Standard Bearer)
Iolaire: Iolaire Gathlain Paladin (Hospitaler) [Shelynite]
Havocprince: Biteynicenice: CG Goblin Feral Gnasher Barbarian
Tiger Claw: Vance Astrovar Human Brawler (Shield Champion)
Fire Drake: Zoranda - Female Kitsune Swashbuckler (Flying Blade)
Rednal: Serena Female Human Sorceror (Hyperborean)
Jereru: Thrall the Lucky Half Orc Warpriest (Arsenal Chaplain) of Iomedae
Slayde77: Aria Dros - Female CG Tiefling Magus (Eldritch Archer, Fiend Flayer)
