Boosting Prestige for Purchasing Power

Advice

This strictly a Pathfinder Society question.

I have a GM baby that is seventh level and sitting at 24 prestige/fame. I would very much like to get him a +2 equivalent weapon when he starts play. Unfortunately a fame score of 24 only gets you to an 8,000 gold purchasing limit.

Is there any way to bring down the cost of a +2 weapon that would allow it to be puchasedone with only 25 fame? Or is there a way to pump up fame to make a purchase?

Your numbers don't seem to match up. Shouldn't he be either lower level or higher fame for those numbers given? Assuming he's a pure GM baby, and got all the Fame for each scenario you ran, 24 Fame would equate to 12 XP worth of chronicles. 12 XP puts him at 5th level, not 7th. Alternatively, at 7th level with 18 XP he should have 36 Fame.

That's true for scenarios, Nomadical, but modules give a different ratio of xp to prestige.

I'm not aware of anything like you're asking, Kifaru, unless perhaps very specific weapon on Chronicles (like Silverhex, which is +2 equivalent at slightly more than 6k gold).

Yes, they are all modules. Emerald Spire, Rum Punch, and the Plunder & Peril series.

One of the problems I'm finding, is running modules tends to leave you behind the curve on prestige and fame.

At one point there was a faction boon, or some such thing, that let you treat your fame as 2 or 3 higher in regards to purchases. I can't seem to find it now that I want it.

The exchange faction boon for 3 years ago I think did it.
But no, I'm not aware of anything off hand that you can do.

For this reason I have started skipping the full reward on the bonus chronical for the extra prestige.

Sovereign Court

The bonus chronicles give 6 prestige though, which is in line with 3 scenarios. If you were to go with the 2 bonus prestige and then stuck another module for the xp you could have taken, you end up with the same prestige as if you just took the 6 and 3xp.

But most character don't do exclusively modules so if at any point you expect to get back to scenarios you will have fewer levels with missing prestige.

It is a small difference I will admit.

But if you do 2 mods my way and then play the 2 level to catch up in scenarios you net 4pp.

Ah, yes. I knew that, (I've got enough of them myself, after all) but since the OP hadn't stated that so many of his chronicles on this one character were from modules, it didn't occur to me as the likely cause of the math disparity. As Grandlounge said, most characters don't do modules so exclusively. My apologies to Kifaru for impugning your math skills.

Chess Pwn is correct about the Season 6 Exchange faction journal card:

Quote:
ASSOCIATE (4+ goals): Instead of paying 5 additional Prestige Points to purchase items and services in settlements with fewer than 5,000 residents, you only pay this extra cost in settlements with fewer than 2,000 residents. In addition, treat your Fame as 2 higher for the purpose of calculating your purchase limit.

I also did a search in the boon spreadsheet here and didn't find anything that would meet your need.

There is a feat for that, if you're desperate. Renown lets you treat your Fame as 2 higher for purchase limits when in a major city.

I haven't played PFS, but is retraining allowed? I'm wondering if you could cheese the Renown feat by taking it, buying what you need right now, and then retraining it.

Definitely seems a bit cheesy, but perhaps it could work...?
