I'm not really happy about this, for personal reasons. I wish they'd waited a few years more. :(
But I'm glad for everyone who's enjoying this news. It's nice to see all the excitement.
I'm actually less than delighted. Why bother buying floppy pieces of paper and glue when waiting a couple of years nets you a revised hardback done in PF rules?
And RotRL Anniversary Ed. was kinda supposed to be a one time thing.
Not gonna hate on it though. I'm sure a lot of people'll want it.

Becasue the print copies are almost gone is one reason.

Great. Now we'll definitely get Second Darkness Redux one day.
Also, curse your crimson thrones, Paizo! My players are just about to exit book 4. I don't know if I can take this.
I feel your pain. My irregular group have been playing off on and on for FIVE YEARS now and theyre just near the end of book 5. Like two - three encounters away.
UGH.
I'll totally be buying it and the pocket sized Core Rulebook and Bestiary 1. My CBR is the 1st printing from when they first launched...

Hmmm, I wonder who in particular that could be referring to? :3
Still just using the same iconics from the origonal for the art or is there more of a mix?

I can understand both the elation and less than elation, but it's not really different than some other publishing industries. Novels receive compilation treatments if they sell well after a certain amount of time. Comics also get trade paperbacks and hardcovers of certain story lines despite people buying the single issues first and it is not uncommon to add or update content in either of those examples. Both of the industries I mentioned also don't typically wait eight to ten years for those releases as Paizo did for RotRL or CotCT. If there is a market for it (and the market demand might be the only way any other Paths get the hardcover treatment, if at all), then I'll be interested to see how or if this evolves from here.

It still uses the same iconics as the original. No need to change that; it's what we did with the hardcover of Runelords, after all.

It's not really "a couple of years." It's close to a decade, through an edition change, and at the point where collecting those floppy pieces of paper and glue would cost a few hundred dollars and some time hunting on eBay.

I have a full set of CotCT already, one of which was a considerable expense (Seven Days, obvs.), but I'm still SUPER EXCITED about getting this version. More stuffs, especially a new Grey Maiden adventure site and massively expanded Scarwall, is a very enticing prospect indeed.

I'll buy it.
And in all likelihood in four or so years put my tabletop group through it. (I'm not expecting the tabletop Runelords game to move at a fast pace. Though I also plan on adding a lot of outside material to it as well so to let the crew reach level 20...)
I must admit though, one possibility for a level 1-20 game would be in revamping an older AP for a hardcover, and adding additional material to help the game flow better. But I doubt that would ever happen as the amount of work done on it alone is a big deal.

Will this be included as part of the Adventure Path Subscription?

+1 for buying it (despite having the 3.5 version sitting on a bookshelf).
I believe that any AP benefits from a re-vamp after a few years, as it gets "play-tested" in the roughest forum of all - the customers - and new rulebooks introduce new character classes which might suit certain characters better than the original 3.5 SRD-available ones, etc.
Does this mean that we get any updated information and/or sourcebooks on Korvosa, the Red Mantis, the Shoanti, etc.?

Not necessarily.
:(
:( +1
If not, I hope Horror Adventures has plenty of extra-creepy/horrific spells like Giseil Voslil's recorporeal incarnation from AP #16.
Another +1 :(
Maybe if we're lucky enough that most of Second Darkness gets sold out in a few years' time?
It was James Sutter's SD article on Golarion's solar system that really sold me on Paizo APs and their in-house campaign setting. (Well, that plus SD's Drow element.) I would really love to see SD get the loving attention which it deserves some day.

Well, let's look at what the new SDAE is - it's the second AP that Paizo put out. If Paizo continues doing one new SDAE, in numerical order, every five years then that would mean it would be 50+ years before they got to something like Wrath of the Righteous (which does need an overhaul). And it also means people are far less likely to wait. After all, if it is going to be 70 or 80 years before a SDAE shows up for Hell's Rebels, then I'm going to be dead before I can run it from an SDAE. ;)

A 64 page Varisia book to go along with the rerelease would be pretty great.

That was Birthplace of Legends.
A 64 page Korvosa book however...

Birthplace of Legends was a player focused book and was only 32 pages. Korvosa actually already has a 64 pager. link.

That 64-pager is also 3.5, not Pathfinder :3
Makes an update for that as well more likely.

That said... of those 64 pages, precisely ONE PAGE actually has edition-specific rules content. And those rules are pretty much one feat (Sable Company Marine) and two stat blocsk (for Sable Company soliders and hippogriffs). Hardly a load-bearing page at all. The entire rest of the book is pretty edition neutral, and its contents work perfectly well today for Korvosa-themed adventures.
What the book DOESN"T do as well is present rules for how Korvosa functions during the campaign itself, and I'll be including a 20 or so page long appendix in this book that functions as a "Korvosa under Ileosa's Rule" gazetteer. All the information you'll need for encounters themselves in the city will be in the adventure itself, but if you want to expand things beyond the scripted adventure or include other parts of Korvosa that aren't on center stage during the adventure, the Guide to Korvosa will help a lot.
An "update" to Guide to Korvosa would, in other words, be "updating two stat blocks and one feat" that don't have a significant role to play in the campaign. And since we've updated that feat into an archetype already, even that one page is already updated.
Thus, no need to update Guide to Korvosa exists. It works fine as-is.
In any event, there's not going to be any books in the other lines specifically devoted to supporting this campaign. That job is focused on supporting Strange Aeons and Horror Adventures instead. The bulk of the books we'd publish to support Curse of the Crimson Throne have mostly all been published already.

So, I'll be getting this. The question I'd have is whether this is an anniversary edition, or something else?
The 10th year anniversary isn't for around another year and a half? Right?
So this would put this around a year prior to the anniversary?
Is this an indication that we might get another for the anniversary...or is this book it?

It's billed as a "hardcover" - nothing about an Anniversary.
I very much doubt that we'd get another so soon (although my heart ever longs for Second Darkness). As for whether they have something else in mind for the Big 10, I couldn't tell you.
I think GreyWolfLord question was whether or not there will be a special/deluxe edition of the hardcover once the actual anniversary of CotCT comes around.
I highly doubt that, though. That would cause some people to feel like they were tricked into spending money on the hardcover twice. It would not be paizo's style to treat their customers like that.

Well... there was that one time the Deluxe Collector's edition of RotR was announced about a week before the 'regular' anniversary edition hardcover started shipping. I remember getting my shipping notice, going to the Paizo site to catch up on the latest, and being very conflicted about the even shinier newer version.
Just bad timing on when they got the print estimates to be able to announce it and me not visiting the site for a while... but damn that was painful.
