Item that gives a circumstance bonus to intimidate?

Rules Questions

So I'm making a sorcerer who does what a sorcerer normally does, but when expending resources isn't ideal (especially at low levels) he demoralizes opponents. I'm not going to sink huge portions of my build into this, but I'd still like to be as good at it as I can on the cheap, so that brings me to the question is there an item that gives a circumstance bonus to intimidate checks? If it is only to demoralize that's fine.

the mundane

the magical

Severed heads of loved ones?

Can't really find anything that would give specifically a circumstanc bonus. There probably is something though. But remember, a circumstance bonus is rarely a flat bonus to the skill. It's always something more specific with it.

@dragonhunterq: The generic masterwork tool isn't really applicable to Intimidate. And the headband is a headband, meaning that a caster won't use it. It's also not a circumstance bonus.

Circumstance? Dunno. The Cloak of the Yeti provides a competence bonus, but that's the closest I'm aware of.

A MW tool of intimidation....

Battle mask provides an untyped +1 bonus to Intimidate.

Kind of an exception to the 50gp for +2 bonus for MW items.

One DM let my Viking have a "scary helmet" with horns on it which gave me a +2 to demoralize foes. Outside of house rules I don't think you'll find a lot which boosts the intimidate skill besides what's already been listed.

As an alternative to the "Deadman's Headband" you could consider the "Great Barghest Hero Cloak", but being able to turn into a wolf for 7 minutes per day isn't something most Sorcerers would be interested in.

If you're the kind of Sorcerer who has or might be interested in having a familiar the peacock gives you a +3 on Intimidate checks.

Finally if you're a human you could consider the Focused Study option to get Skill Focus (Intimidate) as your bonus feat at 1st level along with two more free Skill Focus feats at 8th and 16th level.

And there is nothing preventing your from having an imposing or scary helm that grants you a bonus (my chosen one paladin has a peacock feather helm). It should only grant a bonus to demoralise though (or to influence), not a blanket bonus.

Are they a half Orc? If they were, there are Orc trail rations.

Keep in mind that such a thing only exists if your GM agrees with it. From the rules for Masterwork Tool in Ultimate Equipment:

"Some skills have no appropriate tool or masterwork tool—no nonmagical item exists that grants a bonus for all uses of that skill."

"Individual GMs may want to allow masterwork tools for other skills at the listed cost."

{There are additional suggested limitations and restrictions listed for "custom" Masterwork Tools that I didn't bother to quote.}

Actually, there is. It's the rules I quoted above. There is no rule that states that any player can purchase a Masterwork Tool for any skill he/she wants. There are a specific list of Masterwork Tools that exist, and then there is an allowance for a GM to permit others, should the GM choose.

Additionally, as a GM, your "scary helm" would not necessarily grant you a universal +2 competence bonus on Demoralize checks (unless it were enchanted to do so). Not every creature you come across finds the same things scary. That mask that scares the crap out of Goblins and Kobolds would merely get a chuckle out of a Hill Giant, for example.

Guys, the 'scary helm' already exists, it's called a battle mask, it costs 50gp, and grants an untyped +1 bonus to intimidate checks to demoralize an opponent.

That's your masterwork item.

I was in a game where another player (a necromancer of some flavor) had a small pig familiar. He had someone make a little cart for the pig to pull around (none of us knew why). After the first few battles against these cultists we were hunting the necromancer PC started putting their heads in the little cart.

I wanted the necromancer to be able to animate them somehow but we never did find an appropriate spell/sla, so he got a circumstance bonus to intimidate against (living) cultists in the same cult instead.

@Ozy: Not a circumstance bonus though.

Since we're all talking not circumstance bonuses, I guess I should mention Circlet of Persuasion. +3 and occupies head slot (not headband).

RDM42 had a good call with the Orc Rations. I somehow forgot to mention them even though my Orc PC ate them exclusively for around 13 levels before "falling off the wagon" and beginning to gorge himself on the cookies the party's Witch bakes using her Cook People hex. He had started pretty much auto-succeeding on his rolls to demoralize most foes long ago anyhow.

I guess Sorcerer doesn't tend to make me think Orc though the Orc Bloodline is pretty good and the Half-Orc's favored class bonus goes nicely with it.
