I'm building a character for a game that's going to need some bit more fleshing out. I want him to be a spellcaster which specializes in dark, twisted magic even though he is not evil himself.
I want that character to be inspired by Shamans of Fire Emblem and maybe some familiar dark energy tropes from Anime, but unfortunately I can't find spells to make that work.
The class itself does not matter, I'm looking for any tips on building that spellcaster - I've already checked illusion and necromancy, but I'm looking for something a bit more... vile.
P.S Animate Dead and Summoning is something I want to avoid for now, I do not want to clog the battlefield (a summoner is already in the group).
Any tips?
EDITED:
Forgot to mention, spells level 1-4.

Fleshworm Infestation conjures flesh-eating grubs inside somebody that could be refluffed as shadow-stuff. Rod of Extend on that is a very painful death sentence. It's sufficiently unpleasant that you may have some trouble justifying Neutral, though.
Deafness/Blindness is permanent, and there are a lot of long-lasting curse options for starvation, dehydration, immolation, and so on.
Chaokineticist lets you chuck negative energy all day long.

My advice may not help but here goes. This seems more a question about role playing then the actual spells. Archtypes may help you get a feel for that. I'm not suggesting you play one just read some. There are two that might appeal to you. The first is the ShadowCaster out of Inner Sea Magic. The second is the Thassilonion specialists. Niether at heart are actually evil but both are somewhat dark in nature.
As far as role playing that adds a level to the character that no amount of spells, powers and magic can replace. Had a guy play a double weapon wielder. Nothing exciting really he was a fighter using a double blade. A Darth Maul wannabe if you will. The player made him stand out by two things. The first was being a devoted worshipper of Asmodues while being Lawful Nuetral. The second was just being an SOB. Suddenly he was this guy you never pissed off nor lied to, he killed liars hating them. All of this while being Lawful Neutral. He made his character scary by stating my armor looks like this. The armor was at first normal medium armor. By saying my armor looks like this he became distinctive.

Wayang Seems like a very good Fit for a Race. Darkvision, Affinity to shadow spells, and good Casting stats.
Using spells like shades, shadow conjuration, shadow evocation and other Illusion spells. You can also work with Darkness spells, Walls of Blindness, and other Debuff Necromancy spells.
You wont be bogging down the field with summons but still have control options. If your making a shadow caster you might want to be friendly to the group and warn them to have ways of seeing in the dark and not falling victim to your control methods.

Requires some of the higher levels to get off the ground, but damnation feats on a diabolist using hellfire ray. Of course, by taking all four, you're at best LE. But you can justify that as mainly being a product of selling your soul to hell, not your actions. You could even have him use all those dark powers for good, but never escape the consequences of selling his humanity to become a devil. You can channel hellfire to turn spells evil and gain pretty massive bonuses on them.

I'm not really sure what effects your character description would encompass but if I were you and wanting to make a themed caster like that, I'd focus on what effects I'd want to be able to cause, like direct damage (acid? cold? force? negative energy?), blindness, paralysis, long lasting curses, entangling, exhaustion, fear, nauseated, or whatever, and then try to find ways to get those effects, re-flavouring spells to fit thematically where appropriate.
Like I consider enchantment to have some of the most twisted spells there are, but your idea of twisted might be completely different to mine.

You: Aleristhe starts chanting in a low whisper. As he does so, other whispers seems to join it, in a chorus that reverberates through the air. Tendrils of black serpent-like smoke seems to rise from the ground, and wind around him,...
It's looking almost like black and purple cigarette-smoke.
Suddenly the whispers are pierced by a creepy, high-pitched scream and the tendrils strike forward like biting snakes, or the scythes of a mantis, tearing at the flesh of the orc. Then they fade, dissipating into the air.
picks up 2d4 and roll them. They come up 4 and 2
The orc takes 8 damage.
Your GM: Okay, very cool. The orc lets loose a cry of pain as your dark assault starts ripping at his body. He falls to the ground, dying. You notice that off to the side, the orcs' spirit-caller is staring at you, unblinkingly, trying to figure out what sort of vile dark arts you're employing. Just to be clear, that spell you just used functions like magic missile, right?
You: Yes, it's magic missile.
Your GM: Well, it probably isn't. It's probably some weird, unpronouncable spell, gleaned from the other side of the dark tapestry, but mechanically it's magic missile, cool. Ahem... It's the spirit-caller's turn, and you see realization in his eyes, as he notices how you weave the eldricht powers and realizes the properties of your dark arts. He starts stomping the ground with one foot, yelling in a guttural language, and shaking a stick adorned with goat-bones. He's casting shield. Would you like to try to identify the spell as it is being cast?
Hope it helps.

Yeah, I wish the RAW sacred flame let you switch up the damage type, similar to chromatic orb but you must select the damage type when you first learn the cantrip. Then there could be lots of evil necrotic damage "sacred flame" or "profane shadow" spells or whatever. Fire damage for pyros, cold damage for frost maidens, poison damage for temple assassins, thunder or lightning for weather witches, psychic damage for chthonic cultists, etc. etc.
