I find Shakespeare hard to read, but awesome to see as a play. I feel the Silmarilion works very well in audio form.

I agree with you on this point too.

(And I have three degrees in theater. THAT and $5 will get me cup of coffee at Starbucks,...)
;P

Most of Shakey's plays are BORE-ING to read, silently any way. But even an amateur production can make them come to life! :)

I have never tried the audiobook of Silmarillion.
<Adds another thing to the list of things he wants to do but wont get to anytime soon,...> ;)

EDIT- As a side note, I am a fan of the 'Star Wars by William Shakespeare' books. And the audiobooks of them are very much fun.
To be fair, I am such a nerd that I enjoyed reading them too. :)

That was a good book!

It is! I have mine out some times just to read through it. :)

I like the one where Leonardo DiCaprio dies.

I love Julius Caesar. Mostly because I did a great performance of Anthony's monologue over the dead body of Caesar.

That's a good reason! :)

I generally prefer the comedies, because thats just me.

However,... I WAS in a very unusual college production or Macbeth that was pretty awesome.

Spoiler for length:

Spoiler:

So, Our director was a guy who believes that Dramas should make you think. You dont have to LIKE what you think about, but you should be made to think about things sometimes. :)

Everyone either loved it or hated it. ;P

Our production had 3 Macbeths (1 was female) 3 Lady Mac's (1 was male) all on stage at the same time, who all took turns saying lines, except when they all said them together for dramatic emphasis.

In short, I was 5 people in that show, and i died 4 times. (I was Fleance, so I got to escape) :)

When we had the final battles between Macbeth and MacDuff, (and the kid who died before, that was me) we had THREE warriors with staves fighting ONE guy with a sword.

Good times. :)

MMOMacbeth:

So what were you supposed to think about with that one?

I loved that one of the casts for our Chicagoland Youth Theater's production of "South Pacific" had an African-American Lieutenant (Lootellan). That made the message about racism very interesting!

Have I been going to conventions in your area and NOT visiting you?!

I don't think so. Haven't lived there for ages.

*whew* for a moment I was worried i was missing out on quality treppa time.

You have to catch up with me first.

I do!

So...wait there were NO witches in this production????

That seems wrong to me...

Also I'm glad Rag likes my reason.

So one of our small local zoos was pounded by hail yesterday, along with the Springs area. Animals dead, people injured.

One of my cars should be towed away this week, donated to CPR after hail smashed it. I can't afford to repair it.

Keeping my fingers crossed that the remaining car stays undamaged. Enough with the hail, already!

Oh no! So sorry to hear this!

Wow. How terrible!

I am pretty sure a spider bit me 4 times last night. I woke up at 3:00 with burning itchiness all over my left hand/arm centered around 3 tiny bites (plus one on my neck for good measure). They’re welts, but smaller and more burn-y than mosquito bites. Anyway, I took some Benedryl and that helped, but now it’s worn off and they are itchy m@+!~!!$$~+~s.

Also, my favorite Macbeth:

Spoiler:
I saw a production once at the Stratford Festival in Canada, and they had set the production in post-Colonial sub-Saharan Africa. Macbeth (and Duncan) represented a class of white Africans trying to hang onto power despite the rising tide of black African self-rule. It worked really well.

The most powerful bit was the slaying of Macduff’s family, given the added dynamic of violent racial oppression. I couldn’t imagine how the actress playing Lady Macduff (who was amazing) could perform that scene night after night.

Also, the production used some well-placed set pieces to make it possible for Macduff to behead Macbeth onstage (it often occurs off-stage). He used a shovel.

Bed bugs don't generally cause itching.

No, fortunately it’s not consistent with bedbugs (or fleas).

Mosquitos are still a possibility - it was just a stronger reaction than I usually get to mosquito bites.

Doing okay. Just finished watching some Youtube videos.

I'm losing the ability to watch much of anything, I think. I gave up television a year ago because I was starting to stress over trying to keep up with the shows I enjoyed so I dropped them. I can sit through something with friends like a movie but one is about my limit. And I don't have the patience to watch Youtube videos. I can listen to them all day, but watching? Nuh uh. Can't do it anymore.

So I found out I’m singing this solo again later this week. It’s one of my favs and I’ve done it a few times before, so the short notice doesn’t bother me.

I figured I would run through it a few times this evening to brush off the cobwebs, and the most violent thunderstorm I have heard all year erupted right overhead. This is the perfect piece to be underscored with a nice thunderstorm. I need this to happen every time from now on.

I find this RPG podcast a lot of fun to listen to, and you don’t have to pay perfect attention

Treppa-
Ack! STay outta da hail! Dat will do a numbeh on yew haid! ;P
I was living in New Orleans when a bad hailstorm came up while I was at work, but I didn't realize it cuz it hit just past where our offices were, at my house. I saw what looked like snow on the way home and was "WTF?!?!?" Then I got home and realized ALL the cars looked like someone had played a Blue Man Group concert on the tops of them with ball pein hammers. :P Fortunately, I was living in New Orleans, full coverage is kinda a requirement. ;P

Freehold- Awesome! I always say that my life needs a soundtrack. But You have the soundtrack! You just needed Thunderstorm accompaniment! :)

CH- Benadryl is your friend! (But you knew that!) ;P
Also- That does sound like an awesome production of Macbeth. Ours I referred to also included several (Then) recent-news events, Again, our director liked people to think about things, not be comfortable with things. :)

Spoiler:
Our production included Bosnian Massacres as the MacDuff family slaying, and the 'Fly Fleance Fly!' scene became the Rodney King beating. These and other scenes were carried out by the witches in various costumes.

PAtrick- Cool, Glass Cannon page bookmarked for future reference! Thanks!

AND Today marked Jr's first day of High school. (9th grade) I told him 'Welcome to big kid school' and he LOOKED at me and said with a sigh, "That's what you told me in Kindergarten". ;P So I had to drop him off at the crack of stupid this morning, because he's 'out of zone' and the closest bus drop off/pick up is 2 miles away. :(

And tomorrow I have to drop off/move in Daughter to HER 'Big Kid school' She going to college where I work. (Employee discounts are VERY helpful!) :)

And THAT'S all the time Wizard has for now! BAck to work!

Ok,... maybe 5 more minutes so I can catch up on PbP,... OK OK,... 10 minutes! ;P

Laters treeforters!

There is a tiny newborn kitten in my dining room.

It seems a litter was born at John’s nursery about a week ago. This kitty was abandoned by its mother today when they got separated, and she wouldn’t take it back.

We have a night of bottle-feeding to look forward to.

D'awwwwwwww.

May that kitten love you as much as mine did.

I prefer to have in my own bed...but at least with my laptop, I can enjoy keeping up with you guys.

Also our PCs had an 'oh crap moment" when we started Part 5 of Giantslayer...and the red dragon showed up...and then told us "Yeah some fool giant has the red dragon orb of dragonkind..."

Yep, THAT would be a 'I Shoulda worn the BROWN pants' moment alright.
;P

Wife's school (where she works) started Tuesday,... Check.

Son started High School yesterday,... Check.

Daughter moved into Dorm room today,... Check.

Daddy Wizard making his evening choice of drink a DOUBLE,... DOUBLE CHECK!
;P

Oh yes,... and wife is taking classes as well, to add onto her teaching cert. So she and daughter will both be starting classes on the 20th,...

Is it too late to make my double a triple?!? ;P

Forget all that double and triple stuff. Just take the bottle, put on some Led Zeppelin, and let it all do its work.

Silver Crusade

Kitty seems to be doing well today. She is eating and going to the bathroom. I think she was traumatized yesterday from being separated from her mom and litter. We were a little worried because she wasn’t taking much from the bottle yesterday. She goes to the vet later today.

Also, I’m proud of my cat knowledge. Everyone was saying you can’t identify the sex until they get a little older. I was the first person to point out that she is a calico, and calicos are female.

What are you going to name her?
