Ah, ok. I'm not participating in the playtest (nor have any interest in 2e) but I'll be more prepared for a site crash if it happens again tomorrow...LOL. I'm largely housebound because I don't have a working vehicle anymore and the forums and FB are my primary means of daily interaction and entertainment. Sad, really.

That's awesome! I hope that works out for you.
My group and I have decided that we're not going to invest anymore time and money into learning a new game system. We've been playing PF for years now and this is the game we'll someday "retire" from. I wish Paizo nothing but good luck on the 2nd Edition, but it's just not something we'll take part in.

I'm looking forward to seeing how/what they do. But I like learning new systems. I usually find something I like about each game system I try. Usually. ;)
Now INVESTING in it? That's another story. I won't mind switching over if I like it, and/or if my PbP-mates want to move to it. But I dont have a TON invested in physical books. And the website(s) have all of the important info on them, so moving over won't be too much trouble for me.

Yeah, I’m going more PDF this time around. My PbPs will likely stay 1e

I will say I would love love love to run a campaign in the Midgard setting from Kobold Press. It would be the first time I've ever set a game in a published setting, having homebrewed for as long as I have been playing. And that's a long time. But the rest of the guys have no interest in spending more money and have said time and again they don't want to play in an established world other than the one we've cooperatively created over the years. So I guess I'll just cherry pick from it and not tell them.. LOL

I Really liked the Movie Armageddon.
Outer Space, Action, Adventure, Romance, Laughs, did I mention OUTER SPACE?!? What's not to love? :)
The BOOK Battlefield Earth,...
(if I am recalling the correct novel, I have read a LOT of books in my lifetime, and some do get jumbled in what's left of my mind!) ;P
,...is one of the FEW books (Meaning, maybe 2) in my life that I was simply unable to finish.
And I am just a TEENSY bit anal-retentive about my reading. (IF I start a book, I finish it. I hate reading a series out of order, etc) ;P
Could. Not. Keep. Reading. It. >_<
The MOVIE Battlefield Earth? Have not seen it, so no comment on that one.

LOL, when I say 'Slightly anal-retentive' about my reading,...
I read, and finished, 'The Silmarillion'. (And a few other of Tolkien's 'histories' that he wrote while fleshing out his world) And managed to enjoy it (them) for what it was. Despite it not being the 'page-turner' that 'The Lord of the Rings' is. ;)

Battlefield Earth is one of the crappiest books I managed to finish. The movie is actually much better than the book... Yeah.
I once borrowed the 42 hour long audiobook of "Battlefield Earth" from a coworker. It was the biggest load of crap I'd ever listened to. He listened to it every year on the same date.

Given the quality of the book, a much better movie would not have been hard to accomplish. L. Ron Hubbard can't write.

Silmarillion, (well the book of creation, and the book of Beleariand wars at least) were better read than Lord Of The Ring.

I will respectfully disagree. It took me 47 years to get through the Silmarilion, and I had to do it through Audiobook *. However the guy that reads it is fantastic

I read the books, but they took me a long, long time to slog through. They were good stories and are the very cornerstones of modern fantasy but they were hard for me to enjoy.
The movies are among my favorites of all time, though I know they deviate significantly from the books in nearly way possible. But I thoroughly enjoy them.

LOL,
Reading Silmarillion, (and nearly all of Tolkien's other world-history/background stuff to the Lord of the Rings) to me was like reading the Bible. (And yes, I've done that too!) ;)
Full of LOTS of good stuff, but time-consuming, and most assuredly NOT the easiest prose to digest.
I find that Tolkien was, IMHO, a very good writer. He just wasn't a very ENTERTAINING writer. (Before you get mad, let me finish!) ;P
He wrote like the Historian he was. His characters were fully-realized, and he FULLY created his world that the characters lived in, (he made up several foreign languages for crying out loud! With complete Grammar rules!) but the description of all of the action scenes and important events were from a Historian's point of view. More 'Historically accurate information' and not so much 'exciting action or in-depth character feelings' descriptions. :)
I am fortunate to be blessed (or cursed) with a VERY active imagination. So when I read a book, what I see in my mind is usually much better than any movies based off of them.
Lord of the Rings are the ONLY movies that visually exceeded what I saw in my imagination. :)
