Mercenary Tales: The Capstone of Iteria

Recruitment

51 to 76 of 76 << first < prev | 1 | 2 | next > last >>

I'm liking what I'm seeing so far! I'll be choosing probably after this weekend, since holidays are always a good time to let those who are off of work get their last minute apps in.

Also, thanks for that handy chart, Robert. I've had some stuff go down recently that kept me from doing it myself. Much appreciated!

Remember guys, if you still have further questions, ask away! I'll gladly help anywhere I can. I'll be going over the submitted sheets today and tomorrow, so I can give some official feedback on Friday.

Thanks for the interest guys!

No worries, BigBenClockTower and thank you for giving me the heads up on the insuitability of the Host of Heroes archetype- I'm fine with being an Aegis that concentrates on the crafting aspects; possibly being with Crystal Warrior archetype, if that's okay by you?

In terms of race, I'm thinking of going with a Shabti; possibly from Netherwell, given the Shabti's association with mummies.

Still have to put together some stats though but it'll be up in this recruitment thread for now.

Gah!

I FEEL LIKE SUCH AN IDIOT!

Dark Archive

So, I realized that my stats are all out of order :/

But at least I don't have to worry about constitution.

Dark Archive

Here is fluff :)

background:
Aribik remembers nothing of her former life, all she has is a love for fire and destruction. She went wild for her first few years, eating all the flesh she could, but soon she became more in control. She found she had a beautiful voice and she began to use it to her advantage. Then she slowly remembered that she once knew how to use this music to create magic and she focused on that power.
Soon she began to seek profit. She disguised herself as a normal elf and worked as a bard-for-hire. She traveled a lot, and because she didn't have to worry about the sun, hunger, sleep, or fatigue she could travel faster than anyone else.

appearance:
although gaunt, with pointed teeth and a long tongue, aribik is quite attractive. She has done well at preserving the fresh smooth look of her skin. Although her skin is pale, she retains a strange otherworldly beauty. Her hair is shaved and what remains is in a long topknot. Her eyes are blood red and her hands are tipped with black, needle-like claws. She uses a cloak to hide her face most of the time, or uses a wide-rimed hat with a large peacock feather hanging from it. She has a golden ring with a phoenix insignia on the outside. Her smile reveals her sharp teeth, one of which is silver.

This sounds interesting - I am thoroughly tempted by the prospect of building our own little company from the ground up. I'll be submitting a reworked version of Lyj here (at the moment, he's still up at level 5 from a game that's stalled out in recruitment, not to mention a backstory tailored specifically for that game's setting). I'll need to tinker a good bit, but here's the gist of his personality and whatnot.

Lyj in a Nutshell:

Evil comes in many forms. For some, it means you spend your days plotting doom in a tower, or perhaps bathing in the blood of the innocent, or even simply bilking poor rubes out of their money at your over-priced shop. Ultimately, though, evil comes down to one thing - the willingness to step over others to achieve your goals.

Lyj is one such. Tiefling by birth, he never truly understood the 'compassion' others tried to teach him. In fact, most human emotions would always baffle him somewhat - which, given his intellectual brilliance, was not a common occurrence in the rest of life. Some with his particular combination of intelligence and dispassion might have quickly become a menace to society. Lyj, though, walked a different path. Driven by the pursuit of knowledge and a desire to unlock the deepest secrets of arcane magic, he quickly determined that society as a whole had more to offer than he had to gain by shunning it or tearing it down. When the community thrives, there is more available for everyone, and everyone includes him.

There are plenty of such people who would gladly lie, cheat, or steal as soon as they're sure they're not being watched, but Lyj isn't one of them. To him, it's much less complicated and less likely to come back and bite him (thus disrupting his studies) if he simply plays along with all of society's rules. To that end, he has set himself up as an investigator for hire, putting his analytical skills and vast array of knowledge to good use for the community while occasionally freelancing adventuring work as necessary - putting one's skills to practical use is the only way to perform proper testing, after all. Setting himself up as a valuable member of society is important to his goals, as he has never been particularly capable (or interested) when it comes to making 'friends'.

He's not Good - he's just done the math.

Mechanically speaking, he's a Lawful Evil Tiefling Arcanist. He'd bring in some arcane caster power to things, as well as a decent array of utility skills (especially knowledges).

Obviously, I'd need to play with a lot of the details of his current profile - his background and whatnot are tailored far too specifically for other things, plus his crunch is too high - but if he sounds viable to you, I'll get to that shortly.

As for me personally, I'm pretty dang well-versed in Pathfinder (been playing since the beta gave a much-needed kick in the pants to 3.5), and can generally post once a day, although I tend to do so at odd hours of the day, as I work nights. I like to think I'm a decent poster/writer, but judge for yourself, check out the profile. Be aware that the Lyj portrayed there is a slightly nicer one than the one I would intend to bring to this campaign, but they behave more or less the same; it's mostly just a question of the inner monologue, and maybe how they might respond to temptations of power.

Is there a north land / Viking type in the world?

I've decided to step out of the running for this. I like my idea, but I don't want to hold anyone back if I get picked. Thanks for any consideration.

I just can't think of any compelling stories for a zombie at the moment.
Guess I wasn't as enthused with this idea as I thought I was.
I'll be withdrawing my interest.

Is there any way I could have at least 1 day to work on my backstory? Had a lot of irl stuff

Ultrageek here. Managed to finish!

Level 2 HP: 1d10 ⇒ 7. 1st roll

Wis: 12 +1

Favored Class Bonus: +3 Skills

Background Skills: tba; Craft weapons, Craft armor, Lore Netherwell, Lore Shabtis

Feats: 1st: Power Attack, 3rd: Quick Suit

Traits: Pragmatic Activator, Tireless Logic

Psicrystal (Artiste): "Alokin", HP: 12, AC: 17/FFAC:15, Int:7

Country of Origin: Netherwell

Backstory: Created by a Wealthy Mummy to be a virtual "Whipping Boy"/"Penalty Replacement" for any legal misdeeds incurred by said Mummy, Alset was eventually liberated, along with other indentured Shabtis, due to the tireless efforts of some social reformers in the Netherwell legal system.

Grateful for the opportunity to live his life without having to be punished for any misdeeds by his creator, Alset made his way to Arenstone to begin his new life as a member of some mercenary guild.

Having more in common with created races, such as Wyrwoods, Forgeborn, Androids, and other such entities, rather than your usual native outsiders like Aasimar and Tieflings, Alset has some crafting skills which he hopes will be of use to his new guild-mates. Very loyal to his guild and his friends but somewhat Naive due to his "upbringing", such as it was.

This is some minimal information on my prospective character. Admittedly, while I know enough of the PF ruleset to get into trouble, I've little experience with the Crafting and Downtime rules. Also am somewhat of a casual poster myself- posting between two or three days on average.

In order of appearance:
Robert Henry Iradyiel Madras Aasimar (Angelkin) Cavalier (emissary) 1, Slayer 2

GraveScratches
william Nightmoon Arbik Female, elf (ghoul), Bard (fire dancer)
Viscount K. Lyj Male Tiefling (Daemon-Spawn) Arcanist
Ashe: Viking type?

I believe I have everyone posted, if I missed someone, or something please let me know.

@ Thecooldudenextdoor, Ardent Kain Brandt has a very detailed backstory, so plenty of "Fluff" but no "Crunch" except for possessions I assume he is a Human Cavalier?

Alright guys, hope you enjoyed your weekend! I'll be posting my feedback today, Monday. Look out for it. I'll probably be picking around Wednesday, since I would like to start by this weekend. I've got most of the beginning stuff arranged for us, so make sure your profiles are finished!

Thanks again for the interest all!

sorry, it was acting weird. (spoiler wasn't working properly). so I just took the spoiler out.

Taking a look at it, you have the alternate race traits: dual minded and fey thoughts, don't both use the "skilled" race trait? Also, out of curiosity are you going to purchase a mount? Cause, your a dragoon...I was looking at your spending and realized you don't have a horse, that's why I assumed you were a cavalier and didn't need to purchase one.

This is Ashe posting with profile. You didn't respond about a north man so I will assume they exist though my story could change to fit the world. Current build is on a 15pt buy as I just started a one shot with him. I would create another profile if selected and update the build as I want to see what he will grow into.

I would like to make him A holy creature If we get a free template. Thank you.

Hoi! I'm posting here with the profile. I will update it with a lot more detail if I end up getting in.

fixed. Sorry. Forgot I needed to purchase a mount. (I had originally thought about going cavalier, but I decided to go fighter until level 7)

Wonderful, but I'm applying to two other games.. I want at least one.

Hey BigBenClockTower, I've decided to go another direction with Iradyiel, so I am removing him from the application here, good luck with the game and have fun everyone!

So it turns out I can't run the game for the time being. So I'm going to have to stop it before I start it and abandon you guys. Thanks for the interest, but I picked up another job, so my time suddenly vanished!

Thanks again,

BigBenClockTower
