Nooooooooo...! How will I get my fix of teenaged SS antics?!
(I hope everyone has a Merry Christmas!) :D
Breathe in, breath out. Everything will be all right...
It's not like we don't have anything else to do...
My party is on hiatus due to halfling warlock spawning...
My Ars Magica party won't actually run before new Year because I am sick...
Other parties I play in will pause for Christmas...
Urgh...
At least I have things to write for Wayfinder. As soon as I'll get idea what to write actually.

You should check out this one blog I sometimes read when I randomly stumble across a link... Shaper of Worlds I think it's called? Yeah, that's it: guy's got some great ideas about stuff!

Well, along the lines of silliness... ^^
I chatted with my players over my attempt to insert Wrath of the Righteous into the Runelords game. They said "if you're not having fun, then we don't mind you ending it and handwaving it away."
Cue the alchemy lab they were fighting demons in exploding and everyone waking up from a shared nightmare. The player running Tongs had the best bit as he was asking for warm milk so he'd not have nightmares of a succubus who gave up on sex and found religion. =^-^= The halfling nun asked if he needed to be rocked back to sleep (sarcastically - the two are long-time internet friends and enjoy razzing each other).
Actually, a bit of that game was fun for me - like the halfling trying to figure out how four people could cast spells to open all seven mouths of the stone heads simultaneously, and getting each caster (a sorceress, an eldritch knight, an arcane trickster-turned-swashbuckler, and her cleric) in just the right position to cast spells in rapid succession to get them all to open quickly.
(Two minutes later, the dragon hit. Only one player had buffs up - the ranger who was keeping an eye out. Needless to say... the players have been grousing over an ancient white dragon who is not playing fair. ^^ Seems fighting dragons isn't as easy as fighting giants...)

*shakes fist at my own one-time hobby, which is best represented in film by Princess Bride, which is a film everyone should see at least once, unless they hate life and themselves; also, I really like fencing, and this is a really-long asterisk-thing, soooo...*

Fair enough, but...
Also, next week I won't be available past 4 on Monday... due to a fencing camp thing...
THAT eliminates a Roll20 game on Monday the 21st.
Still working with everyone to get in a game before the new year. Looking less and less likely.

Aaaaaand.... we're baaaaaack! With Kwai Chang in negative hit points again, Voren having Hooken to thank for being alive, and Hooken dead... again...
REALLY insanely-busy week this week ("Welcome back to work! Now get to it!)"), but I'll figure out a way to get the obit and write-up posted soon. Soon, I tell you, soon!

Well, the problem is I'm prepping the finale of Book 2 of Crimson Throne for Saturday, and that's a BIG one. It doesn't help that whoever did the Hero Labs file for that section went categorically insane and the provided NPCs don't even remotely match what's in the book.
So 2-3 hours of "fixing" strangely-configured NPCs added to an already-impressive amount of prep time, plus end-of-year budget stuff, plus a hectic schedule at work = I *may* get at least the obit posted today. Hopefully I can get to the writeup tomorrow...
EDIT: And yeah, they payed the 10,000 gold to bring back both Athelya and Hooken, and are now sitting around, finally able to shop, with under 1000 gold among the lot of them.

It could be a trap, who's to say they won't get him killed again.
That's what the necklace of reincarnation* is for. Duh, dude.
* See below, if you're the GM:
Necklace of Reincarnation
Aura moderate transmutation; CL 7th
Slot neck; Price 53,000 gp; Weight 1/2 lb.
DESCRIPTION
This necklace is a bizarre, oily, and strongly scented fetish comprised of sharply scented copper coins, and a sack filled with weirdly pungent plant matter of various oils and spices that create a heavy, slick, striking odor. The bearer, naturally, has the same aroma.
Up to twice per week, it allows the bearer to use reincarnate on a corpse touched and prayed over for ten hours, and laying across the corpse (or ashes, or other tiny bits) of the person who is to be raised. If the prayer is interrupted, the effect is not wasted, but the process must begin again.
After ten hours, the corpse begins to re-grow from the matter collected from the previous one and the local environment, slowly, over the course of ten minutes. Though concentration is no longer required, if it is interrupted at any point during those ten minutes by any means (such as attacking the corpse, casting dispel on the slowly-reconstituting matter, and so on) the effect is wasted, and must be started over again.
Additionally, the target's new body seems exceptionally well-tanned (almost weirdly and unnaturally so) and smells like it was dipped in whatever it is that the necklace was, and retains that scent for one week, or until the negative levels or constitution drain is removed (whichever comes first).
Otherwise, this functions as the spell reincarnate... though some of these devices come with a few quirks...
CONSTRUCTION REQUIREMENTS
Craft Wondrous Item, reincarnate; Cost 26,500 gp.
[50.4k plus 50k]/[35/<2>]
[100.4k]/[17.5]
[(5.737142...)k]
Oops. Added the material cost too early. Nevermind. Leaving that for posterity/as an example of what not to do.
[7*4*1.8k]/[5/<2/7>] plus 50*1k
[50.4k]/[35/<2>] plus 50k
[50.4k]/[17.5] plus 50k
[(2.88)k] plus 50k
52.88k

Rounded for neatness, and that's more or less what they expect you to do in Superstar, so...

EDIT: Please recall, all, that anything that exists does so exclusively at the say-so of the GM. Thanks.

Gotta love it. Deady McDeaddead came over this afternoon to create ANOTHER new PC (yes, he's abandoning Izren just as the gunslinger should be coming into his own). Impus Minor is helping him.
And once again, Deady started off with a 0-point build. Apparently Impus hasn't figured out the Hero Labs settings yet.
Fortunately, this time I fixed it BEFORE the PC saw the light of day.
Unfortunately, he's making a ninja. And considering his gunslinger never spent a single grit point in his entire "career", I feel Deady should really be more focused on creating a PC that has no special abilities whatsoever. Maybe a strongly-built fighter or something...

Did he just lose interest in Izren or what?
He's only 11. He doesn't want to understand the rules. He doesn't want anything complex. He just wants to play something "cool". And a gunslinger sounded, "Cool", but he was never in the right place at the right time, didn't understand the difference between touch AC at close range vs. full AC at long range, grit points, or any of the other complexities of being a gunslinger.
If your grasp of the rules are tenuous at best, gunslinger is NOT the class to play.
Unfortunately, I'm seeing the same thing happening again: Impus Minor and Deady McDeaddead are joyously choosing feats, weapons, and building a two-weapon fighting ninja who looks pretty darned good on paper.
But he'll never be in the right place, he won't use any ninja abilities, ...

My nine year-old daughter just decided she wanted to try a magus, as she is interested in a little magic, but mostly her bow and sword, and raising animals. Should be interesting. The other 9 year-old decided she wanted to play the first one's lynx familiar...so there's that. Lol.
She also picked out and ordered her first set of "her" dice, and they have to be one of the coolest looking sets I've come across, and she is super excited to break them in.

My four year old taught a nearby five-year-old how to play our "story game" ("... called, Blue Red Rose: The Jackelope and His Friends Go To Heaven. You haff'ta be a puppy named 'Bolt'. I'm 'Bolt 1' and 'Bolt 3' - I'm both. <baby> is 'Dispuppy' an' Mommy is 'Bolt 2' and 'Dasyu' the puppy trainer. The Storyteller has to be a player too: tha's Daddy.") ... in the middle of church.

He made the title up himself (because Mommy and I have been playing Blue Rose when we can - it's an RPG) as well as the title of the story (and created the main gist of it - prior to that, the puppies would just wander around and have random "adventures" like fishing in the stream or rescuing a jackalope once).
Anyway, back to NH's SS game!

Ah. Admittedly the youngest I have experience in gaming with was a few people in Neverwinter Nights who were in the lower-middle teens (14 or so) who played on the very first server I played on, alongside their parents. Old enough to have a pretty good grasp on the system, or maybe just had the parents level their characters up for them.
My niece is only four, so definitely not old enough to be playing PnP games yet (though she sure likes Mario and Pokemon).

Yeah... we played "story games" when the kids were younger.
They always went to twisted, dark, very silly places.
Maybe it was just me...

That's it. My party will find a necklace of reincarnation: anyone who dies while wearing the necklace reincarnates once.

Did they pay the extra bit to remove the negative levels, or are their best friends in the whole world back?
Don't forget Athelya is a dhampir precisely because the player didn't want to deal with negative levels any more. Not to off-topic, but yes, this rankles me amazingly much.
As for Hooken, they're trying to scrape together the money. I'm letting PC who shall not be named cast the spells for free, even though the player showed up once and Nevermore, so all they have to pay for is the diamond dust.
Considering the rate at which new PCs are coming in, they do have a steady cash flow from dead PCs...

Until the number of negative levels exceeds the character level... How close Athelya is to that?

Which is how much? 1000 gp? What a coincidence!
Considering the rate at which new PCs are coming in, they do have a steady cash flow from dead PCs...
Start worrying when they decide to build a fortress out of the corpses of the dead party members...
