I'm just plain done with worrying about offending people. Some idiots will get pissed even if you're civil and diplomatic.

I still try to be diplomatic, but now if I do happen to offend someone with something I consider an asanine reason to get upset, I just go into on purpose troll mode...because if kindness doesn't work, and someone wants to think I'm an @$$, I'll give them a proper reason.

Man.

Yesterday.

So sleepy.

How it went:

09:00 PM - Bedtime for young Tacticslioncubs
10:00 PM - eldest cub finally settles in for the night
10:30 PM - TL (that's me) has nodded off several times telling stories to eldest cub
10:45 PM - TL departs; eldest wails like a banshee
11:00 PM - eldest settles down (ASLEEP?!); youngest wails like a banshee
11:05 PM - youngest is handed bottle, promptly loses it, wails like a banshee
11:06 PM - youngest is re-handed bottle, drinks, loses it, wails like a banshee
11:07 PM - youngest's bottle is held for youngest to drink; youngest promptly falls asleep
11:09 PM - youngest wakes up, not eating: wails like a banshee
11:10 PM - youngest holds bottle and eats... slowly
11:11 PM - youngest loses bottle...
12:55 AM - youngest finally, finally finished being fed
01:00 AM - TL (that's me) finishes post, places youngest in bed, and wearily heads off to bed with 'lioness (hereafter: 'TLady')
01:25 AM - TL (that's me) and TLady have finished chores and collapse
04:30 AM - eldest wails like a banshee - right outside the door - about dreams of 'good cars and bad dragons'
04:31 AM - TL (that's me) is vaguely aware and has fitful dreams of his eldest, his wife, and bad cars and good dragons
04:35 AM - TLady, unable to take TL's muttering nonsense (and, you know, actually caring about the eldest), goes to comfort him
05:05 AM - TLady returns to sleep "for the night"
06:00 AM - TLady's alarm attempts to wake her up to go teach, TL wonders about his weird, vivid dreams
06:10 AM - they finally realize there is, in fact, an alarm that doesn't sound like children wailing, and hit their "snooze" buttons
06:50 AM - TLady finally stops hitting "snooze" and wakes
07:20 AM - TL finally stops hitting "snooze" and wakes (sort of)
08:00 AM - TL thinks it's a good idea to post this; is thus probably not really awake

That was a long night. Even more-so for my lioness.

Ah, parenthood.

(LOVE. IT.)

:D

And I totally find this offensive.

Just me being vapid and sarcastic, feel free to ignore it. Also I completely agree with people getting get offended even if unintended, what with these boards being almost completely written words and thus allow people free reign on interpreting implications. Yay! *sparkles*

Alignment Tongues
More Alignment Tongues
Searching if you care.

It's pretty amazing, and what we're talking about.

I dislike the following about language in PF:

1. Starting languages. Everyone except humans starts bilingual minimum. Gnomes are trilonguists, even if they have 7int. If you have 12int, equivalent to 120IQ, which isn't even gifted category intelligence, you get a free language without even trying .
2. A skill point in a skill you can use for more than just languages and you now are totally fluent in anything but druidic. Have you ever tried to learn a language to fluency? It takes YEARS. Conversational is one thing, but flency can't just be studied. It takes practice, and understanding nuances, etc. No, but because I killed a bunch of trolls I picked up five languages in seven weeks.
3. There's scrying, invisibility, and all sorts of magic, but nobody has followed a newbie druid around and figured their language, at all? We already covered that learning a language is no effort, but apparently this one is.
4. Common. Really? Stupid. Not at all likely in any society, especially one as cosmopolitan as Golarion. Maybe, just maybe, there would be a common, but not everyone would know it. English is the closest thing to common we have - schools all over the world teach it, it's the language of the economic and military superpower, and STILL tons of people don't speak it...and we're all the same species!

With that idiocy, we certainly don't need weird alignment languages.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

See stuff like that is why i never overthink it, i've never tried to come up with real world equivalency as far as ability scores or languages or how a sword works exactly, you'll never win :-)

for what it's worth both my kids know or are learning french. which, as we all know is the language of the future:-D

No, no, no, no, man. Esperanto. That is where it's at!

EDIT: for spelling. XD

Also: summon mount, alter summoned monster, wartrain mount; summoner's charm, mystic past life; added summonings, greater eldritch heritage, spell perfection (used to double superior summoning!), echo spell; rod of empower, ring of wizardry...

Ah, heck, this post makes my build attempts irrelevant. Sad Tac is sad...

(But not really, because that thread is gold!)

So. 23 minutes for a show. 10 minutes of commercials.

>:I

I remember one of the reasons I really don't like TV. So much wasted time.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

That's why I stream shows, only 5 minutes of commercials :-)

Most of what I watch these days is premo cable like HBO/Showtime/Starz so I dont deal with no commercial interruption.

I can get Showtime thru Hulu, but honestly none of the shows they have interest me, same with HBO so i'm good:-)

no idea what Starz is to be honest, never had cable, ever :-)

Of course... eeeeeeeevery-once-in-a-while there is a commercial that I never would have seen that makes me happy I've seen it.

(Incidentally, I'm still not watching TV. I'm watching Crunchy Roll. My steadfast cheapness means I get commercials. 4*15-to-30 second commercials (tending toward 30) = 4*22.5=90 seconds; 90*5 (before and after the show, and three times within) = 450 seconds = 7.5 minutes on average (10 minutes on the high end). Plus loading times before and after... sigh.)

EDIT: Make no mistake, it's because I'm a cheapskate. I have no problem with folk making money. It makes sense and is necessary. I'm willing to accept the penalty for my decisions... but I don't have to like it! XD

Not a knock, but judging on your television ravings, premo cable probably isnt for you anyways.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

I agree:-)

Also no knock from me against premium cable, just not my cup of tea.

also i would never dismiss a show outright, if i'm over and someone wants me to watch something i would with an open mind:-)

1 person marked this as a favorite.

I haven't seen a TV show worth the cost of so much as basic cable in over ten years.

The only time I watch TV is when it's incidentally included in my internet package. Seriously, I'll pay a dollar less if it means no TV.

I do, sometimes, grab really old shows from the library on DVD (currently on Psych season 5, and enjoying it), or stream them, but nothing has been exceptional enough to warrant any sort of fee whatsoever.

I guess when books are free, and the internet is included in my cellphone package, I don't see the point of paying for entertainment.

This generation really puts too much emphasis on entertainment. Our society idolizes people who merely alleviate boredom - and only temporarily, at that. Think of five actors. Think of five scientists. Which took you longer?

Maybe it's the celebrity aspect? After all, not many scientists are famous (which is part of the problem). Think of five musicians. Think of five politicians.

Im pretty sure Greentea has a travel model of soapbox :)

Currently a big fan of Game of Thrones, Ray Donovan, True Detective, Black Sails, Penny Dreadful. Looking forward very much to Walter Blunt and Ash v. Evil Dead. These are some of the best offerings in film/television IMO. They are worth the price to me.

My default setting for communication is "Rant". Sometimes it takes actual effort to tone it down.

...

...this may be related to my limited number of friendships.

It probably doesn't help that I delete people from contacts lists and Facebook and the like on average twice as much as I add them lately.

In another thread I pointed out that the best part about your 30s is not giving a crap.

It's also got a downfall. I can't tell you how often I say "I don't have time for this mess/drama/idiocy. I'm out."

1 person marked this as a favorite.

So you have a low tolerance of what you consider to be foolishness?

I gave a cr@p in my 30s. I felt that I had too much to lose not to.

2 people marked this as a favorite.

Pretty much. I just hate unnecessary drama and the like.

Related, but different...I also really hate when someone asks me for advice, doesn't listen, things go wrong, and then has the audacity to get annoyed when I say I told you so. I earned that I told you so. You let me have it, or you go bother someone else you're not going to listen to next time!

No, that's only an internal thought process. I don't SAY I told you so. I just don't bother to offer assistance in the future, because apparently my opinion doesn't mean dick anyway.

I was just teasing about the Soapbox, we all have our Soapboxes we like to bust out from time to time:-)
