If non lethal + lethal = total they fall unconscious. If lethal is enough to drop them they die. However one note about non lethal is that if I get healed while I have both lethal and non lethal both of those amounts get healed for the full amount.
I.e. if my PC has 12 Max HP and has taken 5 lethal and 5 non lethal when the cleric channels for 5 HP back I get 5 lethal and 5 non lethal healed putting me back at 0 damage taken.

I'm super late to the party, but just in case there is room:
Sly: Hexcrafter Magus/Inspired Blade Swashbuckler
If not, it's too bad, but I hope you'll keep me in mind if room becomes available. Thanks!

and his backstory
It’s not easy being green. Ugroth's mother Elis came to Trunau In distress, as most do. Ravaged and raped by orcs during her long exodus from Ustalav Elis's life finally came to an end during child birth.
They say it takes a village to raise a child, But in this case it was Nature itself that did most of the work. Legally Sara Morninghawk and her wife Agrit Staginsdar took custody of Ugroth when he was born, but they soon came to find he was a son of the sky. At a very young age Ugroth would slip away from His mother’s magic shop and explore. It started with the town but very soon his gaze stretched. He wanted to explore the wild. Of course Sara was very unhappy that Ugroth was constantly putting himself in such danger. All his parents wanted was for him to be safe and happy working the forge or scribing a scroll, Ugroth would have neither.
During his adolescent adventures in the mountains, Ugroth came across an unfortunate sight. He had stumbled across a Hatching Roc with Its wing pierced by an Orcish arrow and its head bludgeoned by the fall. With the poor creature barely alive Ugroth's first thought was naturally "RUN! THERE ARE ORCS IN THE AREA CLOSING IN" But then The roc's eye opened, they shared a gaze. Ugroth knew he had to try and save it. Mustering all of his strength, Ugroth Hoisted the animal onto his back and ran for miles towards Trunau. Exhausted he collapsed at the town entrance desperately trying to explain his situation.
Moment’s later terror struck. Arrows whizzed from the bush 40 yards from the entrance! The orc hunting party had followed Ugroth all the way back to town. In moments the Horn was sounded, a dozen orcs charged from all directions, Guards Manned there stations. Arrows, fists axes and swords flew, the sound of battle was thick, blood and sweat palpable in the air. One orc with 3 arrows sticking out from his chest charged Ugroth, tackling him to the ground. Instinctively Ugroth counter grappled, landing a kick in the groin and then pinning the orc! Seemingly from the heavens an axe came down on the Orc's neck. Sara Mornighawk was holding the hilt, Blood splattered on her face, and now her sons.
After that excursion Ugroth vowed not only to himself, but the town of Trunau, that he would become strong in mind and body so that he would never make a similar mistake. As years went by Ugroth trained under Patrol Captains Kust & Rodrik Grath, leading them safely throughout out the surrounding wilderness. Ugroth Nursed the roc back to its fullest, forging a friend he hopes will last a lifetime, giving him the name Vash, the stalker in the sky.
