GiantSlayer gestalt Roll20 game. looking for 3-5 players on Wednesday nights

Recruitment

1 to 50 of 88 << first < prev | 1 | 2 | next > last >>

I'm looking for an additional 3-5 players to do a Roll20 game on Wednesday Nights. We will be gaming at 6 PTZ and go until at least midnight maybe a little later depending on work schedules.

I already have one person Meeko who will be gaming with us. He's a long time friend of mine.

I will be DMing the game and my rules are as follows:

Character Creation:
Any Paizo Material is fair game except for play test stuff, guns, and the technology guide stuff. I don't like science in my fantasy.

You will be gestalted Go to Here for rules. I will go into more details about gestalt once we all get together to game if it's needed. For now just make your PC based off of those rules and I will let you know of any problems that need to be fixed.

PCs will be made using a 30 point buy no score can be less than 8 after racial modifiers.

You can choose any Race from the ARG in the From the Featured section.

For Favored class you still only get one bonus for each level so if you were to be a half-elf with fighter/barbarian as your favored classes and your first level you were a fighter/barbarian you would still only get a single hit point, skill point, or favored class option however you could choose the fighter class option one level and Barbarian the next.

Any alignment is fine however the #1 rue is don't f%*& over the party if you want to play an evil PC I will go into more specifics at that point.

You'll start out with 300gp each.

Item creation and crafting is allowed weather or not the time is there for you to use it is a risk you are taking by investing in the feat. I feel this is a fair way to do it because of how powerful Item Creation feats are since you basically double your wealth.

Each person gets 2 traits to choose from I will suggest taking one of the campaign traits in the players guide but it isn't mandatory. You can take 1 drawback to get an extra trait for a maximum of 3 traits at character creation.

You will get Max HP every level.

Fluff:
I would like to have each person have at least a paragraph of back story. RPing is important to the development of the game so it is encouraged.

Rules:
I'm a RAW guy for the most part so if you want to do something know the rules for how to do it chances are I already know how to do it and if not I will be learning how to do so.

I will allow some changes to things if you ask the worst I can do is to say no. If you want to home brew an item we can talk about doing that we will use a combination of the rules, us talking about it, and the boards to determine what the price of a given item will be.

About me:
As you may have guessed my name is Will. I've been gaming for about 7 years now. I've run a handful of APs in the past and they have been successful. I'm pretty good at letting the PCs do what they want to do in the game (I toyed with having the PCs side with the bad guys in CotCT when they asked if they could).

My fights are always well thought out and tough (when they should be) expect the enemies to use tactics that are smart. I will be making the enemies stronger than they are in the normal AP because you all will be stronger than normal. I enjoy high power games.

Who I choose will be based off of a combination of things but your back story will play a big role. A longer back story doesn't make you more likely to be picked if you can make something interesting and different in a paragraph that's all I need if you want to write a page that's fine too.

The Deadline for submissions is 11:59 PTZ Saturday May 2nd. Our First game will be on Wensday May 6. That gives everyone a week to make a PC and the it gives me 2 days to pick and another day to let everyone know who it is before we game.

If you're chosen I expect you to be able to show up and be on time (within 10min of the start time).

If you have any questions present them here not as a PM. character submissions should be posted here and have "Character Submission" in the post so that I can find them easily.

wow I cant believe no one has responded.

I'd love to join you guys with a rogue alchemist I have built. If we can find others of course. I may have a friend that's interested as well.

i am also interested. but it will be my first pbp.

Gayel, this is not a pbp. It is an online game.

Dark Archive

I'm interested. I'll need to read up on the players guide. I have a few ideas or concepts that I wouldn't mind playing. I'll get back with you later. See what other ppl come up with.

would it be possible to do an evil group for this AP?

Just thought I'd post under this alias so you can see some of what makes this character tick, though I admit I don't have the crunch done.

-Alistus

That even more interesting! (lot of experience with roll 20)

We could do it as an evil campaign however I won't really change up the story it'll just be from yalls actions party vote on it.

Also my computer screen was broken tester day so until I get a new one in I'll be posting by phone I will have a new screen before we game though.

If you make posts in here I will start reading them tomorrow night since Sat Sun is my busy time with work (I'm a cook).

Also Meeko can you hit up Cedric from our last game? Just send him a PM with a link.

Oh disclaimer on evil campaign anti-pally will be mostly useless as you don't fight good stuff.

As an Underground "Alchemical Goods" dealer, this character can easily work in an evil campaign.

Shadow Lodge

call me interested :) Wednesdays are not a problem at all, heck no day is a problem lol. but i had a idea for a undead lord cleric (not a evil one) and was wondering what deity's are we restricted too? or is it possible for a cleric to just focus on a idea?

Being a cleric of no particular deity isn't a problem however please try to choose domains that are thematic for your fluff not just the really good ones.

IF I confirm, my character will probably be a fighter/ranger. How gestalt's rules works for prestige class?

Shadow Lodge

awesome :D time to get to work ^^

One prestige class can be taken per level. So you could take a level of fighter/holy vindicator but couldn't take a level of holy vindicator/ horizon walker

Thinking zen archer/rogue

Shadow Lodge

currently working on a couple characters to see which one you'd like better in the campaign :) one is a LN human undead lord/zen archer, the other is a CN Damphire undead lord/ something else, both have different views and personality and backstories they just both happen to have necromancy running in their blood lol, but i should have both done to pick from soon :)

I was thinking a Warpriest/Bard might make for an interesting character. Thought I am debating just to go straight fighter/bard. Not sure on any race yet, looking over the idea and trying to figure out what the group might be like. Looking more as a combat support/healer role so the Warpriest/Bard is a heavier thought in my mind.

I think I have settled for Fighter/Bard. Otherwise I'd be spreading too thin. Looking at Crowd Control in a manner, healing, and maybe every now and then a bit of damage.

Liberty's Edge

might throw my hat in... no idea what to make yet though... maybe a monk/barbarian?

Question: With the Versatile Performance, can you choose one of the skills that the perform skill replaces (IE, Perform Sing replaces Bluff and Sense Motive eventually) and level in it till it can be replaced by the perform...or do you need to just put those points in the perform skills and suddenly become ridiculously good at those two skills when it becomes available?

Background:

Gunari was born of an unwed woman of a traveling caravan and the Kyton that stole her away for a week of torture and impregnation, he was a troubled child growing up. The Caravan group barely tolerated him and his odd looks and even took to whipping him if he showed himself when they stopped in town to display their wares and perform their talents for money. He grew up despising and at the same time coveting civilized life, wishing to be apart of it but scorning his own looks. He learned to fight like his ancestors, something that came to him easy, but also learned from those around him in the caravan. He honed those talents and began to try and hide his looks and delve into society.
It was when the caravan stopped near the town of Trunau, that the tiefling stole away into the woods to never be seen by that caravan again. He slipped into town, watching it at night, looking for a place he could hide as he perfected his new identity. He noticed the Plague House and hide himself in(or around) it. The fact that the townsfolk hid from the building made for the best place to take off his disguise when he needed to rest.

Motivation:

This part kind of depends/changes based upon the party itself. If the group is evil and is grown to be despised by the town itself or feared then he will grow to hate the people of the town and those who can easily fit in. He ill grow to try and bring ruin to their lives or at least revel in the hardships he makes them face, enjoying the agony that they go through at his hand.
However if the group is mostly good and is look well upon by the town, he begin to try to show himself as he truly is. He will try to become a protector of the people and hopefully be able to be accepted by humanity even if it is only a small town where he gain friends and live a comfortable life.

Personality:

Again mostly up in the air here. Depending on how the town treats him will really reflect his personality. He will be wary at first, choosing to hide in the shadows when he can and hiding behind a mask when he can't. He will be conflicted by how to deal with the people around him, mostly trying to be nice but quick to change his tone if met with hatred or prejudice.

It's still very much a work in progress, but this should give the base idea. The build is centered around the barbarian rage power of Body Bludgeon. I just find the idea of picking up one guy and beating another guy to death with the first guy as being funny. Fluff-wise he is one of those big, not overly bright, characters who trusts easily but, when angry, will beat you to death with your friend.

If you have any suggestions lemme know, I just wanted to get something in.

Hey Teneroth So there are a few things i think you should keep in mind. this is a giant slayer AP so most of the enemies you'll be fighting will be far larger than you. so grappling will be a bit of a problem especially at 10th level when you gain Body Bludgeon.

@Vincent Fleming no you don't have to have ranks in the skill your PC learns how to use the skill he already possesses for another purpose so you can go from a +0 to a +100 over night.

Also i forgot to mention to you all if you could make your PC on a Myth-Weavers

Gotcha, I can understand that to a degree. Some GMs prefer it one way, others prefer the other way. I am fine with either, so thought I would ask. I shall try and remember my Myth-Weavers account >.<.
Did you have any questions or concerns on my character otherwise?

I think, I have done it correctly. I rather despise Myth-Weavers, though it appears to have gotten better about it's auto logout and save issues.

When I saw this I had several possible jokes/comments I came up with. I couldn't decide which to use so I shall put them all here. Please choose your favorite and assume I just said that one:

-I figured as much from the name, but between monk flurry with random objects and barbarian rage I should be ok for damage when I can't grapple something.

-Challenge Accepted

-Yes, but the idea of picking up a giant and beating another giant to death with them is to hilarious to pass up

-Then you had better not piss me off, lest I use you as a weapon :P

Also I am transfering the character to myth weavers now

Characters... uhh uhh... find a way

If I read it right, you can only use gnomes and halflings as a weapon as a medium creature. You would have to be huge to be beating up giants with other giants. It's a fun idea but probably not very easily doable lest you convince some people to help you out.

for joke comments see my post before my last one

on a serious level, because the game is Gestalt the body bludgeon bit is kinda secondary. Yes it's the main reason I'm going with this build, but in terms of what my character can do it's more of a gimmick. My real power will come from the combination of catch off-guard, improvised weapons, flurry of blows and rage. I'm actually considering dropping improved grapple for power attack at level one because grappling won't be that good till later levels anyway.

Flurry + rage + power attack + 2h weapon = stupid amounts of damage regardless of whether I'm using a shepard's crook or some guy's buddy. Especially if said enemy is flatfooted from not carrying a weapon. The grapple ability will be more utility, especially when I start getting feats like Body shield (where I use a guy to block blows from another guy). It can also be useful for taking enemies alive without relying on not killing them outright and using healing magic, or forcing an enemy to deal with me rather than going for other party members.

Infact, that is the main reason I chose Brutal Pugilist, besides the grapple bonuses it means I can grapple one guy while fighting with another, or grapple two guys at once with minor penalties.

For more fun I can even pick up things like hurling rage powers, so I can grapple, pin and then throw an enemy somewhere.

I could, technically, get more damage out if I ignored grapple, and only took one level of barbarian, but then I'd end up with a one trick pony. And besides, if I just wanted pure damage I'd go one level of crossblooded-Sorc/wizard into shaman/wizard and blow people up with 200+ damage fireballs.

tl;dr is it the most optimized build? not really. But it's effective enough to be useful, while remaining fun and having enough utility to not be a one trick pony.

That is an answer I prefer to see when reading up on others as far as their character styling. ^^ Don't get wrong, I plan on having a few abilities myself..tripping foes being one of them, though size only gives them bonuses against me. There are of course some other things you can do with a whip which makes it really fun, like stealing weapons and other such silly antics and then there is the attempting to put out real damage. I'm not sure if I will ever really be a true damage dealer for the group but allowing others to beat up people is more my style with this kind of character.

ok trying to figure out myth weaver thing lol i still have a few ideas rattling around my brain so i'll see what comes out lol :)

oooo this myth weaver is so cool! lol

oh I just realized something Teneroth, Barbarians have a chaotic alignment restriction and monks have a lawfull restriction.

I'm sure you can work something out with will however, he can be very forgiving on alignment, especially if you have a good back-story..

Ok so Ive narrowed down my character to about 2 choices. To preface, I REALLY dont want to step on anyone's toes, I think the game is fun when we all have our own roles to play. I'm super flexible in what I play so Just let me know if anyone has a problem.

1. Tetori Monk/ (maybe Blight) Druid with a dip in barbarian or blood rager at first lvl. (This is proof that I already had the idea so that Teneroth doesn't feel like I'm ripping him off.)

2. (Summoner/ Paladin into dragon diciple). Think Dragon knight. I have wanted to do something with DD for a while now.

2.5 (Bard into dragon diciple / paladin) this would be more of a talking head than the (Summoner/pally) but still a dragon knight.

3. I'f we are lacking arcane there is always my (Mindchemist/Arcanist) or (Blade adept OR brownfur transmuter Arcanist/ Anything melee)

I like your ideas, seems like any of them will be cool to play with. DD would be cool, that's my vote.

Lol, I have tried to pull the DD/Pally so many times but it just so hard to pull off and keep up with all the other characters. Though, I will say most of my time I kept trying to make it work with a kobold as every kolbold's wildest dream is to be able to turn into a dragon even if for a moment.
I would be interested to see how you would pull it off ^^

Liberty's Edge

First off, the Enlightened warrior trait for the Agiathon blooded Aasimar allows for them to retain their monk status as NG or N, meaning as NG I can be both monk and barbarian.

Second, I have an official PFS character which is Bloodrager -> DD who, with proper buffs, can get into the low 30s of strength between the various strength buffs of DD, rage, polymorph effects and other bonuses. It's kinda silly truth be told.

Personally if you have wanted to do something for A long time do it. I view my kobold as a pipedream but maybe some day I will find an evil campaign of goblins and kobolds only that will let me achieve my wish.

Buffs are super important for any character but yeah, you definitely need them with a DD with how spread out it seems you need their stats to be.

I would not be opposed to added a Stat boost to my characters sheet at some point if it is asked for in a role play style. Hell, he could probably benefit from it himself.

Random thought just popped into my head..there is a trait from the path that let's you hold a two handed weapon in one hand...would a large sized whip benefit from that and have additional length?

Shadow Lodge

Very cool, Wednesdays are my day off,
I'm thinking of a hawkeye esque character, alchemest (grenadier)/either ranger (trapper) or monk (zen archer)
His gimmick is having lots of special arrows, such as alchemist bombs, poisons, alchemecial items, splintering, Ki infused (or beehives if I go trapper), arrows, ones with rope attached, the works

ASAP he's going to want an item enchanted with a continual abundant amunition spell, but he has enough special arrows even just from class features to last him a while

Questions:
do we have a trap checker guy yet? I am fine fufilling that role on either side of my gestalt

could someone link to me the doc summerizing this AP so I know how to properly make my character's backstory?

Is it possible for this game to do a bit of mythic? As a whole I don't care one way or another about mythic, but I love the mythic feat "mythic eldritch heritage"

Can I have a single 3.5 feat, it's one to reduce MADness, as it would swap the stat used by my monk stuff from wisdom to intelegance

@Vincent Fleming no the feat trait doesn't let you do that. Currently there is only two ways to use weapons larger than what you can wield one is a fighter archetype the other is for a barbarian and trust me there is reason for that if you look at the old 3.5 monkey grip you could duel wield huge great swords and it got a little ridiculous.

@Lord Foul No we don't a have a trap checker yet...not a specialized one at least.

I'm not going to go mythic and gestalt with a 30 point buy. I've done some mythic stuff and it is just beyond ridiculous IMO. But if you take the improved and greater versions of that feat you can get the same amount of Bloodline abilities and one of them can even be the 20th lv one.

http://paizo.com/products/btpy9bsv that's the link to the player's guide for this AP I'm to lazy ATM to put it in a link box like I did above sorry.

Send me a link to the feat in question so I can read it before I say yes or no.

I think I am good as is, it would be nice to swing a longer whip but I think I shall manage as is unless I put something like Unholy or Righteous Might on my armor. That'll be enough for me to get my reach extended eventually.

Shadow Lodge

Didn't expect mythic, just thought it cool to ask, also I don't get enough feats to be able to properly take those feats the normal way

There are two different feats,
One of them swaps wisdom for intelegance for all your monk class features, and also let's you treat one of your class features as two levels higher so long as you do a special meditation for an hour in the morning you can find it here
The other just replaces wisdom with intelligence it also has a cooler name
Naturally I'd prefer the one I got more out of, but either would be acceptable

Ooh! Vincent! Haven't seen you in a while, given that you're posting under that alias I am to assume that the game with the silver prince is finally dead for good? (Or at least you've given up)

Ugh, it was feats like those that made 3.5 far too broken towards the end imo. Monks do well enough without making them skill monkies and everything. Yeah, unfortunately haven't heard from him in quite some time. If he emails me or something I would go back but as far as I can tell, I assume his health problems and school got to be too much to juggle with online as well.
I mostly post under this one because it's the only real alias I have that has had any face time in a game for GMS to base off of.

Shadow Lodge

Ah, gotcha, makes sense
Hope you have good luck in regards to the game

As a note GM: if you agree with him that's fine, I could just as easily make the character as a ranger (trapper, falconer, spelless) or a marksman (psionic class)
I do however need to know ASAP to get the character done in time
