Christopher Wasko RPG Superstar 2014 Top 16 , Star Voter Season 6, Marathon Voter Season 8 |

After swapping keep lists with some folks and seeing the BROAD diversity of favored items, I compiled all of the individual keep lists sent to me into a personal top 32 "exit poll." I'm happy to share the list with anyone who has PMed me a personal top 32/keep list and expresses interest in seeing it.

I'd be interested in seeing anyone's keep lists who want to share. I've got a top 10 or 15 list right now that I'd be happy to share.
Are there any rules or guidelines about including/not including commentary on the items? Just include names and nothing else? This seems sort of pseudopublic...

Sent you my FINAL list. I would like an exit poll please!

I'm a little surprised at how diverse these lists are. It's almost as though we're all different people who like different things for different reasons with wildly different subtle and secret biases. In any case, the statistics are fascinating.
Very true.
Speaking only for myself, I didn't even reach dedicated, so my list was limited to those items I did see. There were plenty I didn't see, sadly. I don't know how folks found the time to vote as often as they did, but I am impressed.

I'd say that I'm too lazy to work on a keep list throughout the competition, but really I'm just terrified of looking at all of these lists. I can handle one big reveal from the judges next week, but constant reveals from your peers? Yiiiiikes.
I mean, NO PRESSURE, right?
But that's the best part!

Disclaimer: I did not keep my own list, so I'm a blood sucking vampire here, who will take lists and view them, but not return one.
Ditto, for me it's still a learning experience, so seeing what people think is good would help tremendously.
I'd like to put together a nice artsy looking PDF of all the great items from this round too if I do get enough lists.

Last year, I was given the go-ahead by Paizo staff to post a public Round 1 exit poll in the week before the Top 32 reveal.
Here is what the host of last's years contest said about Round 1 exit polling (link):
1) The judges are already looking at items sorted to the top by 300,000 votes. A few more people listing which ones they liked isn't going to impact what the judges think of the item.
2) I trust the judges to evaluate the voter 1–100 items based on their own opinions and experiences.
3) And that's assuming any of the judges even looked at these volunteer exit polls, which I don't think they did. Their priorities were posting comments on 100 items while dodging periods of website outages, not checking the RPG Superstar General Discussion board for other threads about what items people liked. ;)
In other words: this is fine, and I don't think it would have an impact on what the judges say or vote for any items.
That being said, last year's exit poll did a poor job predicting the 2014 Round 1 results, despite having over forty contributors.
Based on that lack of predictive power, I'm going to sit out this year's exit polling and list swapping.

I think the way to up the predictive power is to use lists with marathon voter and higher. Might even have enough champion voters for a decent sample size.

I'm one of those people too. :) I didn't keep a list of my own, and I'm just curious to see what types of items made people's lists. As someone who more than likely didn't survive the cull (I'm not going looking for confirmation of this, just waiting on the official "Sorry, Charlie" notice), I'm interested in what people liked seeing.

This isn't really an exit poll. It is my keep list. My keep list has items I liked and several of them have not shown up on the post-cull list.
I agree with GM_solspiral in that some form of determiner would make an exit more accurate as a poll (personally I look forward to Mikko's mojo minder contest). But there isn't an exit poll and what I've seen makes no attempts at predicting. (If it did my submission would be on the list, like, 32 times. :)
Can any statisticians/pollsters out there tell me how many contributers it would take for decent accuracy? I know it is based on the total number of voters (votes?) but how big of a sample would be needed?

I would highly recommend sending your keep lists to Christopher Wasko, as he is compiling an exit poll that I at least have found very interesting.

Now that voting is done...
I didn't vote enough to even make Star this year (busy life!), so I definitely didn't see most of the items, but from what I did see, there are several I thought were neat enough to keep for possible future game use.
If you'd like to message me your own keep list, I'd be very curious to see it and trade you mine.
Thanks! :)

Of the 17 lists I have received (my own is not included in the below tallies), I have found some interesting statistics already!
One item is on 8 of the lists
One item is on 7 of the lists
Two items are on 6 of the lists
One item is on 5 of the lists
Eight items are on 4 of the lists
I know Chris probably has a better list, but my preliminary list sifting is pretty interesting.
