Alchemist using Wonds

Rules Questions

Silver Crusade

Ogar's RPG guide says a Alchemist can brew a Cure lt wound potion. With that brew, they are able to use a "wond of Cure lt wounds".
It was also stated (by another player) "Alchemists don't Cast spells, therefore they Can't use Wonds".
Can a Alchemist Use a wond that matches a spell/potion in their book?

Alchemists can use wands of spells that are also formulae.

From the Alchemist's Alchemy ability (wands are spell-trigger):

Quote:
An alchemist can utilize spell-trigger items if the spell appears on his formulae list, but not spell-completion items (unless he uses Use Magic Device to do so)

Although the alchemist doesn’t actually cast spells, he does have a formulae list that determines what extracts he can create (see page 32). An alchemist can utilize spell-trigger items if the spell appears on his formuale list, but not spell-completion items (unless he uses Use Magic Device to do so). An extract is “cast” by drinking it, as if imbibing a potion—the effects of an extract exactly duplicate the spell upon which its formula is based, save that the spell always affects only the drinking alchemist. An alchemist can draw and drink an extract as a standard action. The alchemist uses his level as the caster level to determine any effect based on caster level.

Yes, Alchemists can use Wands because Wands are spell-trigger if the spell is on the Alchemist's formulae list. It does not have to be in their formulae book.

They cannot use Scrolls because Scrolls are spell-completion (without using Use Magic Device).

Is there a list of spell completion items as opposed to spell trigger?

List of spell completion items.

1. Scrolls.

End of list.

That's woefully incomplete. You forgot the list of spell trigger items.

1. Wands.
2. Staves.
3. Rods?

End of list.

Thanks for everyone's input.

Just wands and staves. Rods are wonderous items (they modyfy your spellcasting, but they don't cast spells themselves, hence they belong to a different category).

Well, there are plenty of non-metamagic rods that create spell effects, but yeah they don't appear to be spell trigger items.
