It should be a 1-2 repeatable scenario, where it is spoken by somebody laughably simple to defeat. They should then reappear, grumpy and with a grudge, in an extremely lethal 7-11.

Probably the worst thing that you could do to me would be to lavish me in rich gifts and money, such that my material wealth clouds my ethical and moral judgment, turning me into the kind of monster that I fear the most. So you know, whatever you do, that's probably the cruelest thing possible. Yup.

OK, as promised here are the carefully analyzed breakdowns of the items I've seen and/or recognize for placement purposes. The thing that strikes me immediately is how many earthbreakers made it through the cull (80%).
...
Another way of looking at it would be the survival rates:
Weapons 43.90%
Rings 27.14%
Armors 45.60%
Staves 54.43%
Rods 53.85%
Shields 57.38%
Rings clearly took the brunt of the cull. Ouch.

Now that voting is done. The little special something 4+ people wasted huge amounts of word count is called the reliquary quality for armor, shields, and weapons. At least someone got it right.

Where is "reliquary" listed as an armor and weapon quality? Your link just takes me to a feat that uses "reliquary" as internal shorthand for some of the feat's unique benefits.

The same way masterwork is a quality.
EDIT: There are no Paizo items published that use reliquary.

I know its a lot of work but I would love if Paizo could provide a top 100 list of items that may have come close to top 32, like a incentive for those who want to compete next year.
It feel good for many of us out there to know that we had a real chance to make top 32. Personally I don't think anyone would mind if it wasn't in order from like 1st to 100th but just a list of items in the top 100.
However, on the upside we all have had some great items and I look forward to see the rest of the competition even if I don't make it.

They did that last year...they showed the top 100 from which the top 32 were selected. They also did it the year before, although I think the total was 89. I am reasonably sure they'll be doing the same kind of thing this year, although the actual number may vary a bit depending on how the votes worked out and so on.

I think rings had a couple things going against them.
Firstly, as others have said, ring was probably the most obvious type for converting wondrous items. Oftentimes, this showed.
Secondly, rings have one of the looser design spaces of the item types in the contest (along with rods). There's a pretty general acceptance of what types of things armor, shields, weapons, and even staves are supposed to do. I don't this that consensus is there for rings. The lack of restriction in function was a big potential pitfall.
I'd be interested to hear what people think makes a ring a ring. The PRD is pretty vague: "Rings bestow magical powers upon their wearers. Only a rare few have charges—most magic rings are permanent and potent magic items." I certainly have some thoughts after this year's voting. What do you folks think is essential to "ring-ness?"

I don't think reliquary counts as a quality the same way as master work. It is not described in the arms and armor sections. This Feat allows a character crafting arms and armor to make a holy symbol out of their creation and it also has a specific effect as a permanent fixture in the makers casting of the spells consecrate or desecrate. I suppose a designer could have made this Feat a construction requirement for items that can also be used as holy symbols, but IMO that is a stretch. However I think this gives rules president to require either of those spells in the construction requirements if the item is going to be a holy symbol and the extra cost might also be considered in the items pricing. Thoughts?

I was just pointing out the fact that the feat exists. Adding "Craft Reliquary Arms and Shields", along with "consecrate or desecrate" is only 8 words spent towards wordcount and removes lots of useless clutter in an entry. Plus it adds a definitive 250 gp towards pricing to make it easier, another thing those holy symbol items had was pricing problems.
As for the question of it being a quality, Ultimate Magic where it originates did not have any magic arms. The funny thing with the fragile quality, only 2 of the 3 places where it is listed actually call it a quality. Ultimate Equipment in the armor section and Ultimate Combat in the primitive armor and weapons section. In the Ultimate Equipment weapon section, the word quality does not exist.

Funny you should mention that... I did once write an adventure whose Big Bad was a vengeful drow whose plan was to summon a demon and order it to rain gold coins on the city that had wronged her, for a day and a night.
The PCs failed to stop her. Once the rain stopped, everyone in the town thought it was great... until the currency devaluation hit, and they realized that gold isn't in the least bit tasty or nourishing. The subsequent economic collapse ruined the area for generations.
Got to play the long con, sometimes. By which I mean all the time.

Only a rare few have charges—most magic rings are permanent and potent magic items." I certainly have some thoughts after this year's voting. What do you folks think is essential to "ring-ness?"
I would say that rings in general should be considered (except for a few) to be some of the most powerful non-artifact items in the game (Ring of Invisibility, Ring of Wizardry, Ring of Regeneration, all 4 Rings of Elemental Command).
Also, they are usually designed so that anybody with a finger can wear and use one. The only limitation is they have a max of 2 usable per person (I'm not mentioning the few exceptions obviously). Also, low level PCs can't afford most magic rings. Most Magic item crafters can't craft them till higher levels anyway if I remember correctly either. They are usually one of the last magic item slots filled as well if you don't count rings of protection +1 (Which I don't).
IMHO a good magic ring with the right power (Invisibility is only a second level spell!) can make a character or break a game. Ever wonder why GMs give PCs more +1 Vicious weapons than Rings of Regeneration or Invisibility?
Example: I was playing in the Reign of Winter recently (Warning: minor spoiler ahead) and there is a treasure room near the PCs 5th character level that contains what "appears" to be a Ring of Regeneration. I knew instantly (Yes, I was meta-gaming without meaning to do so) we were no where near high enough level to get a Ring of Regeneration! It had to be a trap...and it was. My friend put it on (He knew it was probably a trap too, but he hates meta-gaming his PCs) and...so on.
Hope this makes sense...I'm tired...
