I've seen more items I liked, but this is more "maybe top 32" stuff. There's a gap between "That's cool" or "Nice! Clever!" and my keep list.
I have 7 total items in my Keep file, 6 weak and one strong. I am just over 400 votes.
Yeah, if I went through my list and decided which I thought would make Top 32, it's probably a lot shorter.

Okay, went through my "Hey, that's neat!" list to make an actual Keep list, and it's 7 items (out of, I'm guessing, 300ish votes).
2 weapons, 1 armor, 2 staffs, 1 rod, 1 ring.
Wow, that totally sounds like something out of a video game.
Oh no, 8, I forgot about one I looked at while I was out earlier. So that's 3 weapons.
I know a few Paladins round about level 7 who would love to get their hands on a weapon that powerful AND inexpensive.
Oooh, just found Keep #9 I think. I would totally use that.

I always like to imagine what it would be like to walk through town holding or wearing an item.
Bland and unoriginal, but useful, item, wins out against item with convoluted mechanics and a bigger drawback than benefit...

You know what, item? You're insane, and I'm not sure anyone else is going to like you, but I love you.
...WTF? Why would you penalize one of the core features of the class that's probably using your item?!! That smacks so strongly of a drawback thrown in for drawback's sake, and is at complete thematic odds with everything else the item does to benefit the probable wielder!1

I think a self-aware computer program submitted a paladin sword. The program evolved and resubmitted. Over and over again.

There was an armor i'd really like, if only it did the simple thing I can imagin, rather than explicitly stating that it doesn't (for no reason that i can see), leaving me clueless as to what this would look like in use.

I felt kind of dirty voting for it.
One of the things I am totally adverse to is an item that requires a number of strange arithmetic calculations to use, and then provides a trivial bonus or penalty (like +1 to hit or -1 to saving throws vs. fear). But that item is better than the boring, ill formatted item. But I hate the lots of mental energy for little gain trend (which even professional designers fall prey to) so much I would like to vote against this item even though it is technically the 'better' item. Such are the dilemmas of voting in RPG superstar.
I find myself finishing the first of the pair thinking, “yeah, this one’s doomed,” then I read the other one and think “well, apparently not.”

I've run into mine four (!) times now. Three times I voted for mine in complete good conscience and would stand by my vote even before a grand jury of my peers. The other time... I hesitated, and I really liked the other item, but I wasn't convinced it was any better or mine was any worse. Soooo I voted mine. I commend my soul to Gygax!
