Ultimate Psionics is awesome, but some GMs probably will be even more reluctant to use Dreamscarred Press in Golarion games when this book comes out.
Actually, for those of us who've somewhat held off on using Dreamscarred, while still collecting it, a final version of psionics from Paizo might be just what we need to make a final decision.

Theory: all magic is based on manipulation of the real world with powers of the mind. Call them "psychic abilities" (I hate "psionics"- it reeks of scientism). There are many such abilities. Most sentients have some of them. Few have learned to access them deliberately. A "spell" is not a "thing" - it's the process of getting yourself into a mental state where you can access these abilities. The abilities give you some chance to actually do something. Throw in the laws of magic and some other stuff and you increase the probability of success. Or you can, in a pinch, use the raw ability directly.
Additional point: the difference between "magic" and "miracle" is the difference in power levels applied - there's no difference in kind between the two. It's just that mortals can't handle the power levels that gods can. Example: a "cure" spell: a mortal just casting it on his own is limited in how much he can do. Channeling the power of a god enables him to do much more.
I like this theory because it makes sense to me. It's consistent and it holds together. Vancian magic, OTOH, tends to fail back to what Gygax once said: "it works that way because I say so!" And then you toss in "psionics" on top of that as a new and different thing. Bleh.
I don't expect anyone to jump on this bandwagon, and I don't expect Paizo to "change the world" on my account. It's just a theory. :-)

Well, whatever the [Redacted] class is, let me be the first to say what we're all thinking:
[Redacted] is the final nail in the rogue's coffin. The rogue class was already the weakest in the game, and the [Redacted] only makes it worse. Anything you can build as a rogue you can shoehorn into the [Redacted] class instead, and doing so makes a better rogue than the actual rogue.

The Slayer and Investigator have already finished killing the Rogue and burying it. All further classes could do would be defile the corpse.
Though Pathfinder Unchained might resurrect it, in which case this is likely simply not true.

See, the Rogue thought he could use his 2 more skill points each level to either outwit or out skill the Slayer so that, even if he were killed, he could be found and bought back.
But then along comes the Slayer's partner, the Investigator, who uses his substantial skills and brains to cover up all traces of the Rogue. Who best to hide a crime scene, but one who solves crimes?

Cool. Now finally we can assemble a team made up of a Human Gunslinger, a pair of Half-orc Slayers, a Wyrwood Druid and a Raccoonfolk Alchemist and have them team up with a wheelchair-bound Human Psychic and his uncanny students on a quest to save the galaxy from Dominion of the Black.
You seriously made me stop reading this thread and look for Raccoonfolk.

I almost feel betrayed by my friends who went to gencon and did not tell me psychic magic is announced. I know they must have been crazy busy though and we have not met up yet since their return.
Last year, I was so excited about the ACG. Now I am excited about psychic magic and the classes for it even more than I was last year.

Close. I used to be assaulted by gangs of roving phrenologists on a daily basis. None of my countermeasures seemed to work, especially not the specially tuned reverse-animal-magnetism necklace, so I took to wearing a hat, so they could not gaze upon my head.
