Played a new game tonight with a whole new group and DM... There was this level 3 fighter who had a +5 Large Bastard Sword with x5 shocking on it.
He claimed it could do 3D8+22+5D6... The guy could literally kill everything in 1 hit.
I thought you were not able to have multiple enchants of the same one on a weapon. I'm beginning to think my location is just horrible with these types of players. I tried Dming once but people were upset and quit when I refused to give them what they wanted and wanted to make them earn it.

How in the Nine Hells does a level 3 Fighter have a +5 weapon? A large sized Bastard sword would only do 2d6 base damage. I think he's screwing with you or your GM doesn't know what he's doing. You can't have multiple shock enchantments. Whether it's shock or shocking burst, it still only does 1d6 extra electric damage. Shocking burst only does more shock damage on a critical hit.

I don't know :/ I should have known it would go quickly downhill when he picked a fight with the blacksmith and murdered his wife in front of him and demanded the deed to the shop and the rest of the group was like "yeah, this is ours now".
I remained nice throughout the night as I was invited to their house to play their game.
Good to know shocking can only be on the weapon once. I don't know if the DM doesn't know or does care. He let everyone make their characters on HeroLab and didn't help.

Yeah, it set the tone for the whole game though. I never asked how he got the +5 weapon. When he said his first attack, he swung for like 34 or 35 and I mentioned "damn" at such a high number, then he said his damage... 58 non crit at level 3. I asked what he was using and he told me the sword is soo awesome that it always hits and always kills anything it touches.

Not really. I went in as lawful neutral which the DM suggested I do as the party was (in his opinion) neutral. Doing some good and bad things but more good then bad. The group has a fighter, sorcerer, rogue and me (monk)... I shoulda known better than to give a good group posing on craigslist for more people.

As an adventurer, I would avoid that fighter like the plague. No doubt he stole it from someone VERY powerful and important who is going to be looking for it, or the gods have some nightmare task set aside for him that will end badly, or he's going to get you all killed anyway. Power of that level should be used sparingly.
But you know, I remember back in 1.0 days: Some friends and I ran multi-class characters with really high stats and 18/00 Str and special familiars...etc. We had fun, but we would have had MORE fun with an experienced DM to keep us in check.

You can't stack shocking, although you can add shocking, flaming, frost and corrosive, and merciful adds 1d6 as well, though it makes the damage nonlethal (enough nonlethal damage will kill just as well as lethal damage).
A large bastard sword starts at 2d8 damage. Maybe he got lead blades on it somehow, or maybe he was enlarged? Or maybe he added the Impact enhancement.
Alright, so a +5 corrosive flaming frost merciful shock weapon (assuming he's not adding Impact as well) is a +10 weapon. A +10 weapon costs 200 thousand gp. If he's actually got this, ask the GM why he gets a 200k weapon, and if he can have one, why can't you have that much wealth? If the GM says, "Sure, have at it" then it's a Monty Haul gonzo campaign, and you should just enjoy it. If he says, "He found that sword in the campaign before you joined and it's not that expensive so pipe down", or something equally off-putting, find yourself another GM.

No the shocking weapon enchantment can't be placed more than one times in a single weapon, but to tell you the truth it wouldn't break anything if it did, the issue is that a level 3 character has a weapon worth 200000gp and the rest of the party (i presume) doesn't.
Oh and by the way the base damage of a large bastard sword is 2d8 and not 3d8, and the static +22 is almost impossible at 3rd level.

Look, this group seems to have a very particular gaming style, that does not seem to be what you are looking for.
They are likely not going to drastically change to accommodate you.
So, walk away. It will net you the best result.
If you want, you can leave an invitation to a game you want to run.
If you do, then be very, very, clear, that you will be running a vastly different style of game.
For now though, walk away, because whatever is bugging you, it will only get worse.

I encountered players like this when I went to my university's game club. New member night, they have various games set up, I join a one-shot game.
Three old members (one is DMing), three potential new members (myself included). We are told about some trouble in the marsh to investigate, so we go. Except the older member playing a Fighter, who decides to sleep with the innkeeper's wife and kill the innkeeper. The other older member (a cat druid) stops fighting the moment the first enemy dies, to eat his kill (leaving us two party members shorthanded).
The rest of us try to go along with the adventure as intended, but I never returned after that.
Some people just have very different ideas about roleplaying. If it doesn't align with yours, try to find another group. I do all of my gaming online nowadays.

not to get too personal on the matter, but i'm assuming since you found the group on a craig's list add, that you are of legal age (18+), correct? what is the average age of the rest of this group? judging by the sound of it, they are either a very young crowd (which isn't always a bad thing because young people have the greatest imaginations), or they simply have very little experience with the game. Perhaps this is their first time running a game with the Pathfinder Ruleset?
it might be overstepping your bounds, but why not sit down with the group and explain to them how/why the way they are playing is both agains't the rules and can get very boring after a few encounters, then suggest DMing for them to "teach" them what a more "traditional" game looks like. If they look at you like you're crazy and there is nothing wrong with how they are playing, say "ok" and politely leave. If they are open to the idea of letting you lead them into the light, then you now have a group of open-minded players who are going to learn all their knowledge of the game from you.
it could be the end, if you let it, or it could be the beginning of a great and meaningful group relationship.
