Spending PP - what can you buy?

I've been digging through the Organized Play Gude and even the older Field Guide, but I can't find anywhere exactly that states you're restricted to only buying things on the Generic Rewards Chart (not taking into account for special boons). The rewards chart has the example of one free item at 750gp for 2pp, so would I be able to assume (after doing some math) that I could spend PP to obtain items not listed in the generic rewards chart?

Items obtained through the '2pp for 750gp item' method are not restricted by your fame score, the Always Available list, or what's on your chronicle sheets. You can buy anything that is campaign legal (assuming you have the relevant Additional Resource).

That doesn't quite answer my question. Maybe I should clarify a little better. Let's go with this example:

Table 5-3 on page 25 states what you can buy with the appropriate fame score. Say that for a moment there's a suit of armor I would like to obtain for my character costing approximately 11,000gp. Said character has 36 PP available to it. Could that character spend 27 of their 36 PP (or whatever the appropriate value would be for a single PP) to obtain that item without paying it's gold cost?

No, you cannot "stack" multiple 2PP purchases to get items valued at more than 750gp. If an item costs more than 750gp it is impossible to purchase with PP.

If by 'math' you mean working out whether the item costs less than or equal to 750 gp. The Guide offers specific rewards for 1 and 2 PP of single items of a certain value. These two awards can't be extended, combined or used as part-payment for more expensive items.

No, that's not an available use for Prestige (unless you have a boon that allows something along these lines, which can happen).

You may spend 1 PP to acquire a single item worth up to 150 gp for free.

You may spend 2 PP to acquire a single item worth up to 750 gp for free.

There is a Convention Boon out there that allows you to spend 6 PP to acquire a single item worth up to 3500 gp (IIRC, I don't have one).

Other than those options, and the chart available in the Field Guide, you may not spend PP to acquire a more expensive item.

How You Can Use Prestige Points For Purchases:

ONCE per session, you may do ONE of the following:
1) Spend 1 PP to get a single item of up to 150 gp value, or
2) Spend 2 PP to get a single item of up to 750 gp value.

Regardless of the PP spent, the item has a value of 0gp if you try to sell it.

You may NOT:
1) Spend additional PP to get a more valuable item (4 PP will NOT get you an item of up to 1,500gp value).
2) Buy multiple items within the GP limit (2 PP will NOT get you two Oils of Align Weapon (300 gp each) and a Scroll of Aid (150 gp).

EXCEPTION:
A scroll is considered a single item and can have multiple spells on it, but for PFS all the spells on a scroll need to be the same spell. So, you could buy a scroll with three Align Weapon spells for 2 PP, but you could NOT buy a scroll with Align Weapon, Aid, and Cure Moderate Wounds on it).

3) Use the PP to cover part of the cost of an item (2 PP + 250 gp will NOT get you a 1,000 gp cloak of resistance).
EXCEPTION:
You MAY use PP to buy a masterwork item and then pay GP to get it enchanted.

4) Get change back from a transaction (2 PP will NOT get you a masterwork club (300 gp value) and 450 gp change).
5) Buy an item that does not appear in a PFS legal source document that you own or that is otherwise not permitted for your character in PFS play.

But that would be a cool idea for a one-shot boon: Spend 4 PP at the end of one adventure to receive a 1500-gp item some time during the next adventure when you could normally buy items.

There is actually a boon like this already, it even gives you a better value.

Is there a reference anywhere that clearly states that?

Free purchase up to 750 gp(3) 2 PP

(1) Add +5 to this cost if this benefit is purchased outside of a
settlement of 5,000 residents or more.
(3) Once per session, you can acquire any single item of
this cost or less from your faction by spending the
appropriate PP. Items purchased this way are worth 0 gp
and cannot be sold.

The chart does not give you a formula to determine the PP you need to spend based on an item with a price over 750gp. Since this formula option is not listed on the chart you are unable to spend PP to buy items with a value over 750gp unless some form of boon allows you to do so.

You are limited to the 150gp or 750gp price cap for buying items with prestige.

Silver Crusade 2/5

The Fame limits listed for purchases are not Prestige spent. Your 36 Fame allows you to buy (with cold, hard gold pieces) a single item of up to 23,000 gp value. Your faction is helping you with that.

The purchases of 1 prestige point for an item of up to 150 gp value and 2 prestige points for an item of up to 750 gp value are separate items, and you can do them at any fame level.

Many have quoted it in this very thread.

There's a number of services you can use PP for, mostly spell casting.

There's also faction rewards you can spend PP on, most require a certain amount of fame. These rewards can have a in game effect.

Then there's 'cosmetic' PP purchased rewards. Titles and property are some examples.

So, are there any other charts that can be referenced other than the GENERAL one with their limited choices?

I too have heard about spending more PP on higher costing items, and I've been wondering where to find that. I'm new to PFS and didn't bother to ask the people where exactly I could look that up.

I'm not sure what a convention boon or even what a boon refers to. I would personally like to make smart purchases, and this would be helpful to know all my options.

Sczarni 5/5 5/55/5 ***

If you play PFS at a Convention, like GenCon, or PaizoCon (links available on the left of your page in big, bright colors), or elsewhere, you generally have an opportunity to win a special Chronicle Sheet commonly referred to as a "boon".

These boons are varied, but one in particular (and I believe it's quite popular and hard to get one's hands on) allows you yo spend up to 6 PP to acquire an item worth up to 3500 gp for free.

Other than possessing that sheet of paper, you are limited to the options posters have repeatedly stated in this thread.

3/5

on the plus side, you can spend 2 pp to get a snapleaf.
