Exit Poll - Round 2

RPG Superstar™ General Discussion

RPG Superstar 2013 Top 16 , Marathon Voter Season 6, Marathon Voter Season 7, Marathon Voter Season 8, Dedicated Voter Season 9 aka Darkjoy

Someone has to create the exit poll thread and this year it appears I will start the one for round 2.

After some deliberation I have selected the following contestants for advancement:

Brian Duckwitz — Agoravore
Brian Fruzen — Emberling
Jacob W. Michaels — Guttersnipe
Kalervo Oikarinen — Dusk Serpent
Kenneth Elliott — Grymp
Mike Kimmel — Chimney Troll
Mikko Kallio — Immured
Sam Harris — Face in the Crowd

Sam Harris is my wildcard, his monster was the first I read and although not perfect it is sticking around in my mind, gaining traction and that is something.

Note:
There is always someone tabulating the votes, please be that someone ;>

There are six I like because I liked both their Wondrous Item and their Monster.

Andrew Marlowe -- Scourge Vial, Kaliswyrm
Emmanuel Green -- Crest of the Fallen, Nafligo
Jacob W. Michaels -- Poltergeist Knot, Guttersnipe
James Casey -- Gossiper's Gourd, Filth Dragon
Mikkio Kallio -- Deck of Falling Houses, Immured
Tyler Beck -- Deck of the Hellwasp's Sting, Selachipoda

Still debating where I might put the other votes.

Gee, why Kaliswyrm I wonder, I wonder? ;P

The 8 have chosen to support are:

Andrew Marlowe — Kaliswyrm
Christopher Wasko — Timberjiff
Emmanuel Greene — Nafligo
Jacob W. Michaels — Guttersnipe
Mike Kimmel — Chimney Troll
Rich Malena — Bogle
Robert Brookes — Disir
Victoria Jaczko — Chwal

I tend to vote for concept, then linked to Golarion, then stats, and finally quality of writing overall. Sometimes one aspect is strong enough to overwhelm a decided lack of other criteria, but not usually.

All of these have strong concepts and some have decent ties to Golarion. That was my one disappointment with a rather good group of monsters: most had either a small reference to Golarion without a real tie or had no reference whatsoever.

There are others I like and I may add to my vote, but my other favorites are also doing well on their own. Now I return you to your regularlyy scheduled exit polling.

I still have comments to make, but I finally finished reading all the entries. I have to say I am impressed with the overall quality, much like the items the R2 bar is way higher than in the past. Congrats to all, but since I can only vote for eight...

Immured
Guttersnipe
Portrait phantom
Shattered Dryad
Selachipoda
Kaliswyrm
Grimp
Chimney troll

These were my YES's one is a YES-

Dedicated Voter Season 8

Chimney Troll was a clear winner for me also...surprised to see so little love for the Living Drug, I thought it was a great entry for the Urban brief, and so readily expandable as a concept for other Golarion drugs.

I wish I had 16 votes. It would have made things much easier. :)

I ended up voting for the chimney troll, cypherplasm, filth dragon, guttersnipe, immured, portrait phantom, selachipoda, and shattered dryad.

So now I can breathe again? Wheeeeeeeeeew.. gasp gasp. Wow, thanks for all the support, votes and input! Once I'm finished with my r3 entry, I'll try to find the time to write a lengthy post in my monster's thread that explains some of my design choices and summarizes what I learned this round!

Thanks again!

Well good job people on the exit pole: The Disir was a dark horse we didn't see coming and the agoravore was only popular in the polls?

Shame about that one.

All in all though, your poll did a respectable job of picking the top 16. SKR did say there is often some jockeying for position along the threshold, so that may be reflected in the results.
