Monkeys! Monkeys everywhere!

Just saw that Razmiri item again. I think it's rapidly becoming my favorite. Kudos to whoever made that one!

OMG, yes.

My calls varied between apologizing that the company was so evil as to turn off the programming and demand payment for our services and congratulating them on having such a talented 3 year old as to order porn 13 times in one month - but they still had to pay for it.

Oh, and while I haven't seen them post-cull, I did see both the 1.8 mil and the rainbow poo items.

Yup. Did that once this morning, when it was a pretty big mismatch too.

So far, I've seen 373 items more than once:

3 items seven times each;
9 items six times each;
22 items five times each;
53 items four times each;
110 items three times each; and
176 items two times each.

I've seen my item exactly once.

I wound up voting for the ZZprice item, mostly because it was up against the rainbow poo item and I was so busy protesting that I didn't catch the price error until I'd hit my vote button.

Item whose formatting somehow extends beyond the voting window. Check.

(I had to up-vote that one, because it's clearly magical in real life. Also, it was better than the other item.)

Kind of hard to get excited about seeing new items when I'm suffering from the "I haven't seen my item since the cull blues" .... sigh

Lol, I'm not sure you did the wrong thing there, really.

I feel like there's some kind of good Pinter/Sartre/Kafka sort of play to be written about a voter who submitted and just can't find his item and finally goes mad... I mean I think it could be a good play from an audience's perspective. Right now I'm in that play and it's terrible.

You know, item, if the random proverb you included at the end of your description was included as an actual inscription on your item instead of an aside directly addressing the reader, I'd have had much more respect for your witticism.

If I had a dollar for every time I though that......

Marathon Voter Season 7

There's one I've seen at least five times already post-cull... and I'd seen it around that many pre. I might have voted for the first paragraph... maybe even with the first sentence of the 2nd... but then it goes all crazy. The old randomizer is gonna have to dig up some worse competition than it has been if it wants me to vote for this one.

Should we be proud of this fact, or is it just proof that gamers just want to vote on magical items and spend their free time making snarky comments about said magical items.

Dedicated Voter Season 7

If we take the gp value of everything that I voted for the past day and add it up, I could buy a totally kick ass +20 vorpal sword of absolute death. Or the mystery 1.8 million gp item that better increase my PC's stats to 90 and give me a DBZ power level of 4.375 hochillion.

edit: spelling is hard.

Mythic vs Mythic

Not sure if this have ever been brought up yet but given the comments about choosing the 'tie' button perhaps a slightly modified black stone/white stone voting system might work better.

4 choices instead of 3

3-0, 2-1, 1-2, 0-3

(numbers on the left being the black stones and representing the item on the left, the numbers on the right being the white stones and representing the item on the right)

That way you do not have any ties but still allow for voters to differentiate between items they feel strongly about in either direction and items that they feel are the lesser of two evils.

Thoughts?

OH

Dark Archive RPG Superstar 2012 Top 16 , Star Voter Season 6, Dedicated Voter Season 7, Dedicated Voter Season 8 aka FaxCelestis

Too much granularity for not enough results. The system in place doesn't care about how much better one item is than another--just that one is better than the other. More than a binary status for that information is frankly far too much detail.

If I am reading this right it would be.

1) A is better than B
2) A is a little better
3) B is a little better
4) B is better than A

I like it but it may be more complex then they want.

Damn it (literally, I suppose), I just realized that vote 666 passed me by today and I didn't even NOTICE.

Though going back and checking my notes, it looks like it was a pretty humdrum showdown. Nothing exciting or even particularly awesome.

The devil's not even trying with me anymore. How depressing.

Pathfinder should create a skill characters can take to learn other languages. That way we don't need so many magic items that allow people to comprehend languages.

Had to take a break from voting just now because a car drove through a glass wall in the lobby of the building where I work. (No one was injured.)

That has to be some sort of omen.

I have now found the second item that is conspiciously similar to a superstar item of a previous contest...

And this item just came up again, paired against THE VERY SAME item as before (though they did switch sides)...

Never had this before, must be rare, do I get a cookie?

I now declare to be able to build a complete monkey (heads to feet) from item submissions.

Would be a nice idea for an adventure path, "the monkey of seven parts" or something like this.

I've seen at least a dozen of those. Most notably items that let you punch/crush/kick/swat/leach/seize magical effects much like James Raine's gauntlets, Matt Goodall's vambraces, or Gerald Andrews's gauntlet.

I've also seen a number of items that resemble Chad Patterson's monkey greaves.

There's been a glove that closely resembles the shadow falconer's glove, without the shadow flavor.

Also, an item much like the torch of solidity.

And the list goes on...

The first thing a new contestant should do is to read all the items that made the top 32 in previous years.

Dedicated Voter Season 6, Dedicated Voter Season 7

Yes, but the item that I refer to copies the powers of the Batrachian Helmet and even uses the word Batrachian in it's text.

Thats more than subtle.

Yes, true. I've no way to tell whether it's intentional plagiarism, convergent design or subconscious imitation of something cool you've seen but don't remember having seen. But I'm sure that if it somehow manages to slip past the voters' radars, the judges will shoot it down.
