Hey guys, sorry for dropping off the face of the earth this weekend. I took a role in a play at the last minute to replace a guy who had to drop out unexpectedly and we open tomorrow night and I have a lot of lines to learn so I won't be able to post until Tuesday probably.

So here's the answer.
FurtiveZoog wrote:Sorry: Does the Divine Grace class feature "stack" or otherwise work with the Irrepressible trait? As written, I'd say yes. Otherwise... what's the point of the trait?
I had a longer, more confusing intro (which confused him and occasioned the "Sorry" :P), but that's the gist of it.

Nope, mainly just waiting on me, I'm getting everyone updated shortly. I had an out of town Dr appt yesterday that ate up my day and Tuesdays are my LONG school days with a Chem Lab that generally gets me home after dinner time. =/
Geometric isomers of organic molecules can go suction my filtration device... >_<

Everyone in the office started staring at my sniggering self when I read that.
I once tried to get a double major with chemistry. All the memorizing and rationalizing inconclusive test results drove me nuts. Went back to just majoring in physics since that made sense.

Yeah, this is Gen Chem 2, really hoping I won't need Organic Chemistry! I'm a science nut, planning to be that eccentric biology teacher that everyone should have freshmen year of high school. But I'm also preparing for the inevitability of being asked to also teach Chemistry, or maybe some variety of Math.
I keep arguing with myself about whether or not I want to take physics. We do learn a little quantum mechanics here and there, but I still find it a little intimidating.

![]() |

I would also say that organic chemistry was 5000 trivial details (each mostky comprised of exceptions) masquerading as a science. Inorganic chemistry, at least, had equations like PV=nRT with fairly reliable answers.
Granted, organic chemistry was often talking about biological molecules, but instead of learning all that naming we biologists simply would call the IUPAC-named (2R,3R,4S,5S,6R)-2-[(2S,3S,4S,5R)-3,4-dihydroxy-2,5-bis(hydroxymethyl)oxolan-2-yl]oxy-6-(hydroxymethyl)oxane-3,4,5-triol the biological name "sucrose". And we'd talk about enzymes doing the synthesis.

Watch out! I think Oti is blabbering the incantation for a spell!
In all seriousness, Chem, Biology, Physics...apparent from basic stuff like terminal velocity, light refraction and stuff on a similar level, its all latin to me.

![]() |

Heehee, yay for science types! I'm in engineering myself, so I got to skip out on all of the organic chemistry. Listening to my chemistry friends though, it sounds downright terrifying!

Kurse blanks out as if watching something no one else can see. When suddenly his blank expression turns to shock as his gaze follows the unseen think to the ground."Oh no Sslipss!" Kurse glares at Otiphon, "you bored the dead guy to death."

Our internet is having issues again so it may be touch and go this weekend. I also will be busy GMing an in-person game tomorrow, so wish me luck! Or better yet, wish me a group of players with fewer murder-hobo tendencies than I generally encounter with the live events... lol!

My character Pizzmic is a enchantment wizard that I've ran in like 3 different campaigns over a 5ish year bit. I have a very defined history so i react properly in character with him. He seeks to be a all powerful ruler but keeps his ambitions to himself. There was a rogue one time that he befriended in game and constantly we would talk after the game with the DM while the rest of the group was gone. We started robbing the local banks, jewelry stores, etc. during the night hours after the other 5 people had gone to sleep. While i didnt want to mess up the normal game it was a "fun" coarse of action. The other players started to see a trend of burglaries as we left from town to town but never connected it to us. Finally we botched a job and were exposed to the city and the group. both the rogue and Pizzmic became NPC outlaws that were semi-bosses through the rest of the campaign. When the game was finally over Pizzmic had tricked the PC party into a trap causing a TPK. The group had already completed the remaining DM content successfully overthrowing a tyrannical King. Pizzmic kills the party and rises to power to rule over the leaderless kingdom and achieve his lifelong goal. It was hilarious.
Now that was both a great way to play in a campaign but i knew it was a nightmare for the DM as the party kept getting sidetracked with investigating the burglaries.

Heading away this Friday (Yay, Happy Valentines or something) and will be gone for two weeks, 14-28 Feb. Not sure how much/if any net access I will get, but it will likely be pretty minimal – will try pop in when I can to post an update (or the odd “Yay team!”).
I should get a chance for a few updates before I jet off though.

I have a con every other month from now until GenCon...very exciting year for me!!! Getting to take part in GenCon's special is the thing I'm most excited about in the gaming world, I think. (And returning to GenCon after a 14 year absence)

![]() |

I can only do it because I'm GMing at each one for enough to get free con badges and at GenCon enough to get a hotel room, as well. We are also renting a van or bus to go up there as we have a big enough PFS group that it requires such.

We have enough people in our area (which is not a major metro area, at all) to have PFS at one of FLGS each and every day of the week. Conventions happen about every three months within a two hour drive, two a year AT the largest of the four FLGS. We are having a 55 table event at the end of March, where I'm probably GMing 4-6 tables and playing in a special. At this point, I'm working on getting my 10 specials in before the end of the year, so that when I hit 150 (still probably a year or two away from that) I'll be able to have my 5th star. (note: I'm only 1 star now, so this is high aspirations)

![]() |

I'm in the UK sadly - for PF purposes - so conventions are few and far between, and fewer of them offer Pathfinder.
So what are you doing to change that? :) I'm only halfway joking. I constantly hear people complain about some situation but they won't do anything to try and fix it. "I can't play PF because no one in my area knows about it. Well, have you asked anyone if they want to learn? No. Did you put a flyer on the board in the local game shop? No. Did you post anything online in the looking-for-a-group websites? No. Did you check out an online game or play by post? No. ..." So it doesn't really bother you that much if you aren't willing to do anything.
Do you have a local shop that has PFS tables? But you do have the occasional convention in the area? Talk to the local VC or VL about it. Ask him to help you organize a couple of PF tables if there isn't already some. Odds are all he really needs is a few people willing to be GM.
GMing PFS is easier than a campaign. Even if you've never GM'd anything before. If you can be an even halfway decent player, you can GM the early intro scenarios. They are relatively simple and detailed so you don't have to 'figure out' very much on your own.
Plus you can go to the forums here for advice on what is needed to prepare.
If there isn't a convention that you can get to, consider helping to get one started. I don't have many details on the process (my work schedule rarely allows me to take part other than GMing a couple of scenarios). But there have been some pretty small PFS/gaming conventions in our area that that were started by the local VC and the head of the Fraternal Order of Police. (I heard it was sold to him as a hobby to try and keep some of the inner city kids out of trouble.) I believe most of the leg work the first couple of years was done by the VC and a few of his friends. The location and the minor startup funds were provided by the FOP. No it is a self sustaining profitable event with dozens of volunteers. Something similar happened at one of the colleges in the area.
I'm sure someone here on the forums can help with some ideas on who you might talk to and how to get started. If you can spread the work over a few/several friends, it shouldn't be too excessive.
I know a couple that can't stand to GM but they still give back to the PFS community by helping to organize at the conventions.

I think there is a pretty big difference between lamenting the lack of PFS in my area and having the time or inclination to organize a convention. I live in a town of about thirty thousand people which has nothing approaching a games shop, the same is true of the two nearest cities if one discounts Gamesworkshops which do not allow other games in their establishments.
I know a couple of people who have played DnD, and literally nobody who has even heard of Pathfinder save from myself. I used to live in Florida and was an active DM there, but its just not viable here, not enough interest venues and I don't keep a car here because I really don't need it so travelling long distances to find the few players is out.

Sorry, that probably came out sounding much more accusatory than intended.
I have recently been listening to a lot of complaining about this and other topics by people who won't do anything at all. They just expect it all to be presented to them on a platter.
Two weeks ago, a whole table full of people were complaining that there weren't enough tables of the new scenarios that they wanted to run. They were getting fairly nasty with our local VL. Not one of those people has ever GM'd a single scenario or offered to help with any of the administrative work, scheduling, or getting scenarios for someone to run. They have the time to show up every week with demands, but can't provide anything back to the rest of us. It was pretty offensive to those of us that do volunteer.
No, not everyone has the time or expertise to organize a convention. But anyone could make the attempt to see if others are interested and volunteering to help.
I believe someone was recently organizing an online convention using roll20 to have a bunch of PF games going on at the same time. Last I heard the approvals were still being discussed, but I think they were even going to get the special PFS convention boons.
Also, I'm not saying you should have to organize something all by yourself.
Your post sounded like there were conventions in your area but they didn't have PF. Getting some tables at an existing convention is not that difficult.
It is more difficult in small towns without a car. A community of 30k is more than enough for a few groups playing PF. Though if it isn't established, you might have to teach some people. If Gamesworkshops can survive, I would think PF has a reasonable chance of finding some converts. I see a lot of the same people at both tables. Plus it doesn't cost nearly as much as an army of miniatures.
Bottom line is that there are usually ways to improve any situation if someone wants to have an effect. Even if it doesn't work out, at least an attempt was made.

We've got more Pathfinder than you can poke a stick at, with several PFS events taking place each weekend. As far as cons go though, they ain't what they used to be - a sad and sorry affair all round. The Sydney PFS crew do some reasonable 'con weekends' though of pure pathfinder - normally two 12 hour days and an 8 hour.
LARP's haven't existed here since the early 90's.
-Edit:correction.
There were a bunch of Vampire:TM LARPs running over the years, but frankly a bunch of goth chicks pretending to be vampires whilst they sit in candlelit rooms drinking red wine whilst bemoaning the frailties of humanity IMO iis not a significant enough deviation to their typical friday nights to warrant being called a LARP, its just clubbing and loungerooming with plastic fangs. If you didn't have a storyline those same people would still be sitting in the same room doing the same thing anyway.

In other news, one computer of my computers is in the shop and my backup computer is probably going that way too (can't get it to start), so I may or may not be able to post over the next few days. So, if I hold things up, hopefully someone can bot/GMPC me.

bluedove |

Sorry for the slowdown, have major tests coming up I've been studying for, plus working on some of my own characters. Other groups are nearly at the same point and I'll hopefully move us forward again later tonight.

bluedove |

Yes, I should apologize. I've been fighting the same nasty respiratory infection for over a week now and I've been napping and zoning out on netflix a lot rather than focusing on the game.
I'm way past bedtime already, but I'll make sure to update tomorrow. Sorry for procrastinating! >_<

![]() |

It's all good. I'm not in any big hurry, just would like to be done by the last weekend of the month and I'm betting that will be easy once you feel better! So worry only about getting well.

bluedove |

Thanks, I did manage to get everyone updated, I'm just notoriously slow at cobbling together combat rounds. We are closing in on the end soon 1-2 more encounters to go for most everyone. I'm sure we'll be done before the end of the month. ^_^

![]() |

End of the month sounds good since they just announced the second PbP game day for April 5th. From what it sounds like you can just run the next adventure with the same people and have it count.
Edit: I hope you are feeling better.

Sorry, personal life problems.
The work emergency wasn’t. But my wife broke her ankle. I have to do everything around the house for both of us. She can’t work, so I’m also going to have to try to pick up some more work hours.
I will try to log on periodically to finish out the module. But if you are ever waiting on me, just bot me or assume he is distracted.
Sorry.

Bad news, though, about Bonekeep:
Can I run Bonekeep?
Not at this time. Due to it’s special nature, Mike Brock has not approved it for PbP Online Play.
I (FurtiveZoog) would be interested in it, too, if I becomes available and if I still have a character free at that level.
