Good luck in future endeavors! I look forward to reading them!

I just wanted to say that so far, my favorite 3rd-party publication for PFRPG is "Races of Wind and Wing". I had great fun playing a Kestrel Raptor, and now I'm playing an Aellar.

Good luck!

Best of luck to both of you in all your future projects. I'm sure we'll be seeing more of you in the future.

So...who is left working on Dungeon a Day, and, at the time of your departure, what are the plans for the site?

Q: What are you going to do now?
A: I am launching Rogue Genius Games. Details of that venture are still being worked out. I’m sure I’ll have more to say on it soon.

Q: Rogue Genius Games? Isn’t that a little close to Super Genius?
A: Yes, it is. The name has the blessing of all the Geniuses, and was selected to try to maintain a sense of continuity since I’ll be continuing the “Genius Guide” line of products.

OK, well that answers my main concern. If the new name was developed with the approval of all involved, then all I really have to say is "When do you start publishing RGG products, so I can be ready to buy/subscribe/pledge/whatever?"

So Rogue Genius Games, huh? Rats! I was sort of hoping this would open up time for you to write some new adventures...

*Hint hint*

Last it was discussed with me around, Hyrum Savage was talking about doing the conversion work and new designs needed for the site. That was more a mention in passing than a hard plan however, and I can't say if it's still how it'll be handled. Obviously there's no particular reason I'd be kept in the loop after leaving the company.

Good luck with Rogue Genius Games! I have a number of the Genius Guides and they are very good. Hoping to see more of the same quality in the future!

Well I hope this transition is as smooth as possible, and you all can get back to producing good rpg material (wherever that might be). As a Super Genius you have had a tremendously positive impact on the amount of fun my group and I have had playing pathfinder. I dare say many of the genius guides have been a big reason why I play as much pathfinder as I have (as opposed to other systems).

I too which the best of luck to Hyrum and Stan!, and hope Rogue Genius is putting out Genius guides a plenty as soon as possible.

Is there any way we could have a clearer picture of the division of properties? I know Stan! mentione some of the stuff he worked was going with him, and you have hinted at some of the lines that are going with you, and some will stay with SGG. Any chance we could get a list assuming its been finalized?

For the products you are taking will we still be able to download ones we purchased from SGG through SGG or through RGG? Will that be the same here and at rpgnow/drivethru?

My *hope* is that both OBS and Paizo will be able to just transfer what company each product is listed under, so previous customers will still have access to everything -- but I absolutely do not know that is the case. I'll post more on this subject after I actually talk to those companies, which I was waiting to do until I had paperwork in hand.

If that isn't an option there should be some kind of work-around, like leaving the SGG versions up and just not making them active for sale -- although then future updates I do might not be available to old SGG customers.

I want to make sure those of you who supported me through SGG purchases aren't penalized for my departure, but to be honest I haven't even had time to broach that subject with the vendors yet.

I am thrilled to announce that game industry veteran Stan! and well-known developer/editor/writer Christina Stiles are joining me as I form my new venture, Rogue Genius Games!

Stan!'s experience with the RPG industry significantly predates my own, and includes working as a graphic designer and line editor for West End Games; an editor and game designer for TSR, Inc.; an author, senior game designer, and creative director for Wizards of the Coast, Inc.; and the creative content manager at Upper Deck Entertainment.

Of course he was also Creative Vice President for The Game Mechanics, Inc. and co-founder (with R. Hyrum Savage) of Super Genius Games where he and I worked together for the past four years. I’m happy he’s agreed to come on board Rogue Genius Games as Creative Director.

Christina Stiles’ name appears in a number of award-winning RPG products, including serving as editor for the Origins-winning Black Sails Over Freeport, and adventure and other writing contributions to Ennie-winning Streets of Zobeck by Kobold Press. She’s been involved in many, many more excellent rpg products, including serving as lead designer for Journeys to the West, also for Kobold Press. She comes on board Rogue Genius as our Senior Developer, and already has a slate of projects in the works!

Please welcome Stan! and Christina aboard! We are delighted to have them in our lab here at Rogue Genius Games!

Its certainly reasonable for you to need some time to work it out. I just tend to recommend a genius guide a bunch of times a day on the boards. You would be surprised how many times someone asks 'How do I do X' and there happens to be a genius guide written to precisely do X. Would be helpful to know whether I need to keep an eye out for the switch over or if I can just link the current products for now.

I guess they would stay Genius Guides in the future? Hence the similar company names?

Yep. Genius Guides to continue.

Okay, so all that's really missing is an announcement that Hyrum is ceasing SGG operations and joining RGG for my mind to be completely blown.

Owen, I realize that this may be the last thing on your mind right now, but I'm curious... is the trade dress for Rogue Genius products going to be significantly different from SGG?

Actually that's exactly what's on my mind right now. Trade dress and logo are currently being worked on, along with our web site. I haven't seen any of the suggestions being developed yet so I can't say with confidence that it'll be "significantly" different yet, but the people working on the RGG trade dress are starting from scratch, rather than starting from SGG's trade dress.

They aren't people who have worked on any of the SGG layout or design, so my expectation is the end result will be very different... but only time will tell what these folks come up with.

Of course I could hate what they come up with, which would put things back in my court. :P

Wow, this is quite a surprise.

Best of luck on these new directions Owen, Christina, and everyone else! It feels like the end of an era, but I'm really looking forward to what you folks come up with going forward. :)

Q: Hey, why the split?

A: It is *really* tricky to know how to talk about these things. The inner workings of any group is often complex and private, and it's always more so if you are both friends and business partners. I have always felt that private matters are best kept private by not trying to walk up to the line of how much you can say without saying too much, even at the risk of sounding too mysterious. So all I really feel like adding on this subject is we may not be business partners anymore, but we are all still friends.

And this is why I respect you and the parties involved... professionalism.

(So can we have more Vanguard stuff, please?)

Wat Vanguard material would you like? One of the interesting things about making a fresh start is that I'm potentially open to anything.

I've been working on turning the vanguard, and a number of other classes for that matter into riven magic users. I'd like to see that.

If your open to anything I'm voting Dracomancer! All jesting aside, I'm glad to hear that I can still get products from you, I tend to look for your releases, and look forward to the new stuff that comes out. Talented Fighter, Rogue, and Monk have been hits with me and mine so far.

A few ideas I suggested in the annual SGG suggestion thread:

Quote:

A book or books related to immortality. Either examining it via a class or traits or feats or other ways. It's a topic that can be examined in many ways including the physical and metaphysical implications, the emotional.

Inspirations include

Highlander
Boat of a Million Years
Dr. Manhattan from Watchmen
Vampires
Jon Oldman from The Man from Earth
and many others.

Quote:

Another idea,

A non-magical class that focuses on Narrative power (ability to affect the storyline). Kind of a broad request but I'm interested in seeing what you can cook up.

Quote:
One more. More products in the style of Merciful Cousins Cavalier Order. Play around with a class/options that can actually help people instead of just killing things in new and exciting ways. Also, character mechanics that interact with the settlement/nation-building rules as appropriate seems pretty cool.

It looks like both Paizo and OBS will be able to support everyone getting updates to old products.
