list any character ideas you have here for what you wish to play
what i'd like to do.
Neptune; Female Human Aegis
Purple haired girl in a Sailor Seifuku with a glowing katana of purple light held in both hands. merely a katana that shines like an everburning torch.
2handed style, oblivious, lazy, socially akward, calls herself the main character of a video game, very out of it
calls herself the goddess of a country called Planeptune
talks about villainy 101 and follows the genuine hero tropes
Aegis Astral Armor is used to simulate HDD or Hard Drive Divinity form. giving her a skimpier look and enhanced stats.

so is that a cartoon? would it be appropriate for a 9 year old? i have a daughter and she loves cartoons like that, her favorite right now is W.I.T.C.H. but we only have the first season.
it's an M-Rated Anime and Series of Console RPGs for the PS3
despite it's M Rating, most of the stuff is not much worse than what you would see in a combination of most core Nickelodeon cartoons, Early Sailor Moon, most magical girl anime, and other lightly perverse, but still tolerable series.
there is no sexual intercourse, though they do make a few size related jokes, and you might have to tell a few white lies. there are a few implied offscreen things though.
the characters in their transformed states, wear garments that resemble skimpy swimwear
there are also a few religious references in that the goddesses are goddesses. it's all subtitled though.
you can review it on funimation.com before you decide
you can't always trust ratings, you can have M rated shows not as bad as most PG, or PG that are worse than most M.
if she were 12-15, i'd be perfectly fine with her watching it.

I guess i should've looked at the wiki page more:) also we have an xbox360 but we dont play many video games (pretty much just legos indiana jones, madden, and oblivion 4) however i've found occasional sexual humor and such goes right over her head:) we let her watch a few episodes of always sunny (her favorite is "how mac got fat") and archer (her favorites are the bastard chef episode and the oil pipeline episode) she also has been watching old episodes of bevis & butthead since she was 5:) my fault, the wife didnt approve:)

Depending on how the story of Iron Gods goes, I'd love to play a LN gunslinger who gets decimated in the first outing, only to be rebuilt by the fascist corporations of Numeria. Then I'll be won back over by my party, stick it to the fascist corporations of Numeria, and shoot Ronny Cox out of a skyscraper.
The best of both worlds...
The fastest reflexes Numerian technology has to offer...
On-board computer-assisted memory...
And a lifetime of on-the-street law enforcement programming...
Golarion has a cancer....that cancer is crime.
"You have the right to remain silent. You have the right to an attorney. Anything you say may be used against you."
*blue-steel stare*
"Your move, creep."
GUNFIRE AND EXPLOSIONS

if she has reguarly watched "Always Sunny." "Archer" and "Beavis and Butthead." then the Hyperdimension Neptunia Anime should be fine.

How can you go wrong with a catfolk monk of the empty hand (with a dip into ranger), a human invulnerable rager barbarian, and human arcane bloodline sorcerer? ;-P

An android alchemist (CN) who, while brilliant, is a bit unapproachable not so much because he doesn't really grasp emotion, but because he tries to understand it in the worst possible way: "Let's experiment psychologically on people to see what their emotional reactions are, and attempt to extrapolate from there!" Also, absolutely fascinated with emotion and what it does to other emotional humanoids, and does things that others would see as cruel, such as leading party members to believe he's fallen in love with them or trying to seduce NPCs in the name of SCIENCE!
...OK, I think I may have just created a nightmare PC that I want to play so badly, you have no idea.

Barbarians are right at home in Numeria, and I'm in love with the concept of some all-brawn-no-brains warrior stumbling upon advanced otherworldly technology and beating monsters over the head with it. Maybe make them distrustful of magic, which is totally justified in this case, given what the Technic League did to this country.

The odds of me actually playing this AP are very low. (I tend to be the GM.)
If things changed and I was given the option to play?
I've been debating this. I think an Android Wizard of the Void School. He was born in Numeria but did a walk about the world and met up with a Wizard from Tian and studied under him in the Jade Quarter far to the west in Kelsgard. He speaks Common, Ulfin, Tian, and a few outsider tongues. Tends to be very Zen in how he does things.

haven't played a magus yet and since they seem to have a few running around Numeria seems like as good a place to play one as any. Race-wise I need to think, leaning towards Kellid but I've been playing a lot of humans lately so between maybe an android, dwarf, or half-orc since I need more of the latter two and I've never played the former. Plus can still rock the Kellid vibe with a half-orc.
Doctor Necrotic |
Whether it fits or not, I toyed around the idea of a cybernetically augmented humanoid (represented by tinkering with android) fighter in heavy armor suit equipped with a drill like device used for exploring "caves" and "lakes" within Numeria. He also protects a small group of orphans mutated by the Mana Wastes. (And if the DM okays this, I'll be a happy fan of a certain popular game line...) I wonder if his speech consisting of whale-like noises would take it a bit too far, lol.
KingmanHighborn |
Kobold Swarm Fighter with maybe a rouge dip, just to always be under people's feet stabbing them in the unmentionables, and even faced with machines crawling all over them stabbing gears and 'important' things. Chewing electrical cables...and basically being a dang gremlin to all things complex or techy.
Rathendar |
Yes, there's an anime for Neptunia. My personal rating of it while being a fan of the games(have them all) is that its a ...moderate production. Don't have high hopes. (I wanted Nanoha-grade awesome, i admit it.)
Back to the Iron Gods question. I'll be DM'ing it, so i've broached the idea to my table of having every PC made with the gun using Archtype of whichever class they choose. Paladin? Holy gun, etc etc.
They can be The Magnificent Seven! The idea is still germinating and taking root in their heads, but i suspect it will bloom wonderfully. (Add more Sci-Fi as they level up, and you have the Seven Samurai anime series)

I think I'm going to play a Kellid human barbarian, who home was burnt and father killed by the leaders of Numeria. After being sold into slavery in Numeria, he eventually gains his freedom and travels abroad, with wacky adventures ranging the whole of the north and down all the way to Taldor/Qadira/North Garund. He eventually goes back to Numeria to confront the fools who believed him crushed, with a mighty sword blessed by Gorum himself.
He is Nanoc the Barbarian/Conquerer!
And yes, even after all the crazy s%!! in his life, he still is only level 1...

As a more original character than the cast of Thundarr the Barbarian above, I think an elf (from Castrovel) stargazer oracle with the Occult mystery (either haunted or tongues curse) might be an interesting choice. "The spirits of the stars speak through me. We are not alone, my friends. They are coming! The new gods from beyond the stars are coming! These new gods will teach the worthy the secrets of the stars and raise them up to heights undreamt of since the Earthfall!"

if i get to play (i too am usualy the gm) i would like to play a reskinned idea i've been toying around with. a human who takes the witch archtype for orks called scarred witch doctor, then going straight into bloodmage. the idea being he found a "mask" that when he wears it it talks to him and he can cast spells. using it as a bonded item that from a science point of view uses nanites powered by his own body to produce spell effects. thus the con basis of his spellcasting from witch doctor and the blood leeching powers of the blood mage.
Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic

I'm toying with the idea of an Android Broodmaster summoner. I imagine my tech inspired eidolons actually being a part of my body (I.e. my forearms detach and become two metallic spider "eidolons"). Or I might go vanilla summoner and make my eidolon a nanotechnology "swarm." We'll see if I play or DM this one. Should be fun regardless.

An idea I'd been toying with is a Bladebound magus whose Black Blade is really a small quantumn computer that's all sharpened on one end; he's the only one who can hear it talking due to it having quantumn entangled with him or something. Though he will never once utter that word himself.
It'd work really well for Numeria: him having started out as an illiterate tribesman, but after pricking himself on the end of this special sword he'd found, suddenly it was not only talking to him, but teaching him. I might even make mentions of how it was a piece of something bigger, spanning the world and beyond, before suddenly getting silenced somehow. It'll be hard to to explain, to people who have no frame of reference about it, what it would personally feel like to be disconnected from a wi-fi network, only to reboot much later to find that the network no longer exists.

Also, if the group is willing to go that way, you could potentially have a group of Pathfinders (or Consortium agents), like a Nagaji barbarian, an Elven sorcerer, a Halfling alchemist and a Samsaran oracle, all led by a Human (mysterious stranger) Gunslinger; then make the whole thing a Mass Effect homage.

10/10 would play

The Shifty Mongoose |
Even Star Trek, if you want to run it PFS-style with a team of stern explorers whose Prime Directives are "Explore, Report, Co-operate".
But if only one person wants to do that, and the rest want to take part in the actual setting, then they'll just end up as the awkward comic relief.
Still, the possibilities for goofiness are limitless when a bunch of hapless archaic wanderers blunder onto a rechargeable ray gun or nuclear reactor and don't know how it works.
Anorak |
I'm hoping to play Ando Lloyd (Male? Android) a devout operative (Inquisitor-Monk) of an Iron God, armed only with his spiritual training and his skill in martial arts, as he seeks his destiny in the Numerian Wastes...
