Perhaps there is something out there already.
Has Paizo ever thought about putting out a magazine box that is designed specifically for an AP. I know there are magazine boxes that you can buy out there but I would like to see one that is themed after the particular AP. one that would be big enough to hold the AP and some of the other material that is for the AP.
Thanks
Stan

Is Paizo looking at a box that would not only fit the APs, and the map but the Pawns as well in their quote?
And the AP item cards...and the AP-specific dice sets from Q-Workshop...
But seriously: I would think including the pawns would be a problem, unless you're talking about storing the pawn box within the theoretical upcoming AP slipcase box. Absent the pawns box, you have to reinsert the pawns into their punch sheets, or slip them into plastic sheets designed for 3-ring binders, or something else -- and then how much space is needed for the pawns? It would vary depending on how you protected them.
For anyone not buying the pawns, the slipcase would then be too large for just the AP + maps. Seems better to just leave the pawns in their box and shelve that alongside (but outside) the new slipcover.

GeraintElberion wrote:The French publishers do a box, but not Paizo.Any way to order these boxes?
You can order the boxes from the publisher's store.
If you don't read French, note that:
• there are 5 boxes (Runelords, Crimson Throne, Second Darkness, Kingmaker, Carrion Crown); there is a sixth (Legacy of Fire) but it is sold only as a bundle with the books inside;
• the boxes are larger than just 6 AP books because Black Book Editions designed them to include the Campaign Setting book matching the AP, and the Player's Guide (they do printed Player's Guides);
• the name of the Adventure Path is written in French on the box
• a box is 25€ = 33$;
• shipping is a flat rate 62€ = 80$ to the USA.

Nice. You can even get 5 boxes for 100€.(Buy 4, get 1 free bonus)
Shipping for overseas sucks though...

My brother-in-law regularly travels to France, so I could get them with minimum shipping, but I am put off by the size irregularity.
I don't even know if the French editions have the same page-count, let alone the support books which they regard as appropriate.
Do you mean by this that the page size used for the AP is different to that used for the Paizo version - i.e. A4 rather than Letter?

Well, I was thinking about page-count but you are right: I don't even know if the paper is the same size.

Thanks Vic. So do people really want to pay 25€ for an empty box?
Hey, actually I would. And I'm French so I wouldn't even have a problem with the shipping part.
But:
1) My AP collection is in English, so the fact that the title on the spine is in French would bother me; and
2) What's the point of having part of my collection boxed, and those APs that have not been translated (and probably will not be, as Black Book Éditions has some trouble keeping up with Paizo's pace) sitting jealously next to them?

Funny you ask about this, because we have just recently begun collecting quotes for just such a thing. (Note that getting quotes is not the same as deciding to do it—we look at this every few years, and the quotes have always been pretty lousy.)
Hope that this something that comes to be. Would like one that is large enough to hold the AP and any campaign settting books for the AP.

Now there's an idea!
Very, very tempted by the French ones. I'm going to hold out to see what the results of Paizo's investigations are first.

I've got to say i like the design the french have gone for. Much as i like. Wayne reynolds art, the slightly more restrained style really appeals to me. If they were english language, i'd certainly consider them (if my financial situation improves enough to buy any sort of rpg stuff again)

A slip-case for the 6 volumes of an AP is a great idea.
It would help protect them from wear and tear, and also make them easier to shelf.
When you have a lot of loose, tall, thin, soft-covered books like the APs stacked on a shelf, they don't balance well and easily tip over when you remove a book from the shelf.
A slip-case would make the shelved sets much sturdier.
National Geographic makes those for their magazines and they are similar in size to APs, so perhaps you could look at theirs as a guideline.

I loved the old TSR box sets, but Vic is right...the costs get into nosebleed territory in a hurry.
For Primeval Thule, we tried really hard to offer both a box and a book. The printing cost for the box was one thing, but what killed it was the shipping. Even with similar weights, the shipping cost difference was brutal.
That doesn't stop me from wanting it, though. Oh, how I want a cool-looking, art-on-all-surfaces box to tote around.

Well personally i would be happy for a Pathfinder skin that I could apply to my existing boxes they are cheaper on the store and on the consumer. Stuff like computer skins is a good example of what im thinking about.
you can make them to order sizes and we get our pathfinder boxes of various sizes and you can save money on the deal

There's some good videos on youtube for making your own slip boxes, if you're feeling crafty....
Required equipment is basically cardboard, pva glue, craft knife and paper . Its quicker if you have fancy bookbinding stuff, but at its heart thats all you need.
For example here's quite a nice one that I found while looking around on the subject...

I go to Staples and buy whats called a project case made by Storex. Its pretty obscure, not even listed on the Staples website, don't know if I am the only one buying the things but I found it while looking for storage for my AP's waaaaaay back on issue 4 or something. It fits the AP's snugly with a bit of room for putting in extra like an APPG or Map folio, or even both. It's essentially a binder that has the rings taken out and enclosed to keep loose papers held within. Pretty much all my paizo stuff is enclosed in these things, from AP's, modules, soursebooks, maps, cards, dice, any of the softcover books, even the hardcover books fit for added protection (it can even fit the Core Rulebook quite nicely). Like I said tho, hard to find, just wander up and down the aisle in Staples for storage and it should be somewhere in there. I'm thinking the product has been discontinued and Staples is getting rid of its warehouse supply since even the Storex website doesn't have it listed there either. A few years ago I went through my local Staples supply, and figured that would be that, but a couple of weeks later they restocked the supply and I'm again slowly going through this batch as well. If anyone wants pics or anything, let me know, so you know what to look for. *Shameless product plug off (and its not even mine!)*

I own everything put out by Pathfinder, and after cleaning out my bookcase today, and removing and putting back all the softcover APs, Modules, Player Companions, and Campaign Settings from my bookcase it was just annoying with all the softcover books falling about. Flimsy.
I want slipcovers please. Way too many easily damaged softcovers, and I mean WAY too many softcovers for us not to be able to adequately protect them. It is a pain moving all these volumes about.
Please make slipcovers.

This is the solution I've gone with.. except I've gone as far as taking a razor knife to the boxes to cut them down to proper size so I can give up a little space on my bookshelf to fit them in seamlessly. This keeps my Pathfinder stuff from flopping around when I remove stuff from the shelf. :)
