Just got mine, too.

They are pretty cool. Most seem about the power level of traits.

Liberty's Edge 5/5

woo hoo!

So who's gonna tip the flask together, and who likes to drink alone!?

Sovereign Court 5/5 5/55/5

If you choose your mutation, can you select Extraordinary Mutation (20)? Presumably, you'd still have to roll randomly for the two mutations, though.
EDIT: Neeeever mind. It totally says it in the boon.

Thumbs up.

+1 attack for readied actions will be highly chosen in my opinion

I totally forgot to get in on this after I found out about it. Been kicking myself ever since. :/

+1 attack rolls for readied actions.

I'm not the only person who thinks of crossbowman for this, right?

Sczarni 2/5 RPG Superstar 2014 Top 16

I actually wonder which of these will be chosen the most often. My temptation is to take the 10% miss chance for a high level character with Blind-Fight and Scent. This is entirely balanced against my other temptation to turn my "mongrelman" alchemist into something even stranger. A tail sounds like fun.

The real question is...

If you're a tengu and choose Pigment Alteration, does it affect your feathers?

So, I figure the boon is 1/player and not 1/character right?

The last sentence before the table indicates that it is 1/player, so yes.

Also, just saying, this is a neat little chronicle. Thanks to the team!

Oh come ON. Such a fantastic little boon and now you've got me tempted to waste it on making my tengu yellow. You sonofa

Paizo Employee Developer

Maybe yellow. Even if you choose that mutation, you still have to roll randomly to determine a color.

4/5

If you roll 8 you could get 2 colors!!!!

How are these being delivered?

And can someone put it up for those of us who don't want to wait...

They're available in your downloads page on this very website, my dear friend.

Now I just gotta make sure someone else at my table is actually using one... I'm pretty sure I can expect someone at the local Friday PFS game night to use one, but there's no guarantees they'll be at my table...

Shadow Lodge

So, how does this drinking alone vs drinking with others work?

i.e. basically I need to hit up a local PFS game, find someone else who wants to drink with me, and we both get to choose?

One thing I do see... the bonuses aren't typed. I'm not sure if that's intentional, are they are meant to be trait bonuses (that would then not stack with other trait bonuses).

Liberty's Edge 5/5

The text at the top says all the bonuses are alchemical bonuses. So they'd stack with all other bonuses but alchemical ones.

I don't see it in my downloads. Are they being phased or did i mess up the part where the kickstarter and paizo know i'm the same person...

You will want to contact customer.service@paizo.com if your email addresses between Kickstarter and paizo.com are different and you did not receive a claim code for the pledge tool.

What is going on in this thread? Yellow Tengus have piqued my curiosity.

And remember, this is for the 2nd, $1,000,000 kickstarter, not the initial Technology Demo $200,000 kickstarter. If you pledged for the 1st, and not the 2nd, you will not get the boon.

People with this boon who play with other people who have this boon have a 1 in 8 chance of having a yellow tengu if they want one. They are now possible! (That's not the only thing on the boon, but it's an option)

And even if they don't get yellow, they'll be some other crazy rainbow color.

I'm far too amused by that particular mutation....

If you had enough people and were lucky, you could make the Tengu Power Rangers, or something similar.

(Edit: It's also not just for Tengus, it's just for some reason I find that the most amusing)

I've missed the Kickstarter boat, so as of now I don't have a chance of playing a yellow, Big Bird inspired Tengu who uses his language skills to teach kids the alphabet, but hopefully someone here will live out my dream for me.

Yellow tengu summoner with an imaginary mammoth companion...

Shadow Lodge

Now, I just need the oread boon so I can have him be green!

Scarab Sages 4/5

So, to make sure I have the procedure right, I bring a printed chronicle with the watermark with my name on it to a game, then have the GM of that game sign off on whatever gets rolled/chosen? Is that correct?

Paizo Employee Developer

Yes. And you apply it to a specific character before rolling or using the advanced simple template option.

5/5 5/55/55/5

Also for rules questions about it, if you're DMing that night can you use it as if you were a player?

Quick question, If more than one player activates an emerald elixir at the same time do they all have to pick the same mutation?

Liberty's Edge 5/5

No they each pick their own

4/5

It is an edge case but do you know if you use this boon for the "advanced simple template" version how that should be applied? via the Quick method or via rebuild method i.e. the +2 natural armor, +4 to all stats method? The end result is mostly identical (i.e. +4 to CON = +2hp/hd, +4 Dex & +2 natural armor is approx. +4 to AC (depending on your DEX & Armor choice however) but there are many special cases that might result in differences.

i.e. a Paladin would see a net +4 to every save via the +4 to every stat method vs a +2 to every save roll via the quick template method. Spellcasters also would benefit more from the rebuild method as their spell save DCs would go up while with the quick method only their special ability DCs would be effected (since the +2 on every roll is only for their own rolls - not for saves vs their spells.

And could you use this while playing a module not a regular scenario? (I assume Eye of the Ten would count as 4 separate scenarios...)

[also if this is an alchemical bonus then which method chosen matters a great deal to Alchemist players as the rebuild method would mean that their mutagen has little to no effect for that scenario - but the quick method would stack in many respects - other than Natural Armor bonus - with their mutagen.]

I realize that most players will likely use this boon for their characters as a permanent boon - but as a player with two characters nearing 11th level I did have the immediate thought that any bonus while playing a high level module or say the Eye of the Ten might be highly welcome - especially one that would stack with most other buffs.

And I might be half tempted to use this while playing through Bonekeep.... if everyone at the table did and we were all using the rebuild method it would likely have a huge impact on the relative power level of our characters (everyone would have higher saves, would hit more frequently and in most cases deal more damage/have higher save DCs)

Paizo Employee 4/5 Developer

No, every character can choose to mutate in a different way.

Now I need to find another local Greater Vancouver player with the Emerald Elixir. I haven't had much luck finding locals who did this kickstarter, but it would be nice to have a few to play with during the beta.

okay so now we will see the yellow tengu (bigbird) with the wholly mammoth companion (snuffleupagus) traveling with Kermit (grippli boon for GenCon 2013). Hell, we could add in a drum-playing goblin (special boon from GenCon 2012) named Animal and a half-orc female bard (Miss Piggy). What's next? Elmo?!? <.< >.> O.O

You don't need the elixir for that...

Shadow Lodge

The sheet specifies that we may "use the experimental agents found near the vial to trigger a permanent mutation" but since we got the sheet without playing the scenario how do we do this? Wait until we play the scenario? Look for experimental agents in every game? (My DM will get sick of that...)

Shadow Lodge 3/5

Oh, wow. I just realised that you get to choose the mutation if you roll with someone else. I thought the way it worked was that you couldn't get anything from the table unless you rolled with someone else, and even then it would be random.

This is fantastic.

The last line on a roll of 20 makes a lot more sense now ;)

I'm pretty sure it's just fluff. You found the elixir; you also found the agents.
