Say there, Tik, are you GMing a game for the online event? I think I successfully volunteered for it if so. Planning to build a new PFS ranger character. =)

![]() |

I volunteered but I'm not positive I did it right, not showing up in the players yet. Maybe it takes time to process or has to be approved or something? Anyway, I'm bluedove or if it's showing names, look for Jamie. ^_^

FYI, I'll be applying a GM credit to Haemish between the end of this adventure and the beginning of part 2 of "City of Strangers", which means he will be 3rd level at the end of it!

Link for those who haven't seen it yet.
Any chance the next scenario could count for that?

Shifty |

Apparently it CAN be done, but everyone has to sign up via the Warhorn site etc.
The other issue is that once a game is posted it is likely first come first served, and that might have implications if people didn't sign up early enough and got beaten to sign up.
I'll look into it a bit closer, assuming there's sufficient interest between the two groups.

I purposely removed Grim from a game so I could keep playing with you - but if you are going to set up a game for our current parties I definitely want to be in it...maybe if you let us know in advanace of the modules you are going to run and when you plan on signing up we can look for it and get signed up as soon as you post it? Maybe you can set it up with players already (not sure about that one =)?
I'm also happy to keep on here - even if you want to take a slightly longer break than we'd already planned on...

I'm only keen on running the next session via the online event on the basis that I can maintain the integrity of the two groups and we can maintain status quo - in essence - I liked the nifty idea that we can keep doing our thing, but have it also be part of a bigger thing with the associated boons and bennies that come with an upscale event.
The timings just happened to work out well for us was all, so could be something to take advantage of - I just wish to ensure it is easy for all involved, painless, and no one misses out on getting into the groups they have been enjoying for four sessions so far :)

![]() |

Can you still get a game up? I thought they weren't taking any more GM's.
I planned to keep Kish back for our part 2, so I'm up for trying to make it part of the event. I agree that pre-planning the time you'll post it sounds like the best way to try to get us all in if we decide to try it. =)

When I first signed up, I was just going to do first steps so I could get him to level 2, but now I've made this character specific to this group, rather than be paired with my wife's character.
As far as the event goes, I signed up to GM and haven't heard anything, so I don't know that there will be more slots unless the slots that are up fill up first.

I've emailed the organisers to find out what the deal is.
Ultimately though, what my question to them boiled down to is 'Can I please bring my two already full tables into the mix under the banner of your event plzkthx'.
It's only ever a good idea if it is fun and adds value, the intention here is for none of us to end up with a headache :)

I'll be honest, I'm not that concerned with boons. I think Bravo group has developed pretty well, and I'm happy to continue on with the group no matter what the circumstances may be.

I was thinking about an aspect of the game that appears to have departed with 2nd Ed. The headaches reminded me. ;) What ever happened to weapon speed being a factor? While we don't need to have an individual speed for each, it would be nice to have a reason to fight with anything other than a two hander.

Shifty |

It went out with Spells having casting times :P
There are reasons to NOT take two handers, immediately to mind are games involving ships - fighting in rigging with a two hander? not so much! Ditto underwater you want a pierce.
If you are climbing or swimming, two handers aren't your friend :)
That said, I think they took the view that mechanics that penalised weapons to any great degree were slowly removed to improve caster/martial disparity - so that martials weren't subject to granularity whilst casters enjoyed freedom in abstraction when the cards were stacked in their favour to begin with.
Urban/Rogue campaigns don't feature many of them either - its all hidden weapons :)

You'll notice I carry a variety of weapons in this game because we may have had this chat before, but in other games people are swinging there zweihander around in tunnels they shouldn't even be able to stand in without a single penalty. I have had people argue they stabbing with a 6' long, 15 pound hunk of metal, lol. But, I digress this is not a simulator. Casters need to be glass cannons again to fix that. d4 HP go, hehe.

It is still good sense to carry a range of weapons, the 'Golf Bag' approach, because the situational cases come up a fair bit - from needing certain damage types to having to fight in odd terrain. It seems there are a lot of PFS scenarios as you get to the (especially) the mid levels where you have to have a tools for anything and everything.

I love the Gladius for that reason - all the benefit of a short sword with Slashing damage added.
Otherwise I like the Longsword/Morning Star combo. Gives you all 3 wrapped up in two weapons.
Count me in for the next game. This module, when wrapped up, will level her.

No worries Grogson. I've totally enjoyed playing this Wizard - first one for me. I can't say anything to older editions - I got my start on 4E and made the switch over to PF Society after my group piddled out.

Shifty |

Well as it stands, I head away at the end of next week for about 10 days.
So on that...
If the game day works out and I can co-ordinate us into it, then great, if not then that's fine and I will kick on regardless.
Either way, I will be running 'City of Strangers, Part II' from 6 Oct when I return.

Good news!
I have heard back from the Game Day co-ord and they are happy to accommodate our tables on an 'as is' basis.
What I need from you guys is for you to:
* Register yourself as a player on Warhorn (if you haven't already)
* Send me your Warhorn username.
There is no need to do anything other than that, should take about a minute.
I'd like to get these in by Sunday night (it is presently Friday morning) but if you are having issues with the system or need a hand let me know.
I will also put out an email to you all to make sure you are all aware :)
With the next session registered through Warhorn we will be in the running for Boons and PDF prizes for doing something we are already pretty much doing. Best deal ever.

Sweetness! My username is bluedove on Warhorn as well. Looking forward to it. As always, Thanks so much for the great game, Shifty! Hope you enjoy your time away! ^_^

Real pity O-Yori costs so damn much... I'm about 400 short and until I get that, may as well stay with the four mirror stuff.
Pre level 3, buying armour isn't a bad investment - by levels 3-4 you need to invest in your weapons and other stuff... cloaks, rings etc.

Full plate provides a better flatfooted AC... against the chance of a better touch AC with the O-Yori (FF would appear to be the superior choice) with only a 5lb difference.
But sometimes you have spend a little more to be true to 'character' or at least the concept you are trying to shoehorn it into :)
